1 Kaj entreprenis Koraĥ, filo de Jichar, filo de Kehat, ido de Levi, kaj Datan kaj Abiram, filoj de Eliab, kaj On, filo de Pelet, idoj de Ruben,
One day Korah, who was the son of Izhar and a descendant of Levi’s son Kohath, conspired with Dathan and Abiram, who were the sons of Eliab, and On, who was the son of Peleth. Those three men were from the tribe of Reuben.
2 kaj stariĝis antaŭ Moseo, kaj kun ili el la Izraelidoj ducent kvindek viroj, estroj de la komunumo, vokataj al la kunvenoj; homoj eminentaj;
Korah and those other three men incited 250 other people who were leaders among the Israeli people to join them in rebelling against Moses/me.
3 kaj ili kolektiĝis kontraŭ Moseo kaj kontraŭ Aaron, kaj diris al ili: Sufiĉe por vi! la tuta komunumo, ĉiuj estas ja sanktaj, kaj inter ili estas la Eternulo; kial do vi estrigas vin super la komunumo de la Eternulo?
They came together to criticize Aaron and Moses/me. They said to them/us, “You two are using more [authority] than you should! Yahweh has set apart all of us Israeli people, and he is with/helping all of us. So why do you act as though you are more important than the rest of us people who belong to Yahweh [RHQ]?”
4 Kaj Moseo tion aŭdis, kaj ĵetis sin vizaĝaltere.
When Moses/I heard what they were saying, he/I prostrated himself/myself on the ground.
5 Kaj li ekparolis al Koraĥ kaj al lia tuta anaro, dirante: Morgaŭ la Eternulo montros, kiu estas Lia kaj kiu estas sankta, por ke Li alproksimigu lin al Si; kaj kiun Li elektos, tiun Li alproksimigos al Si.
Then he/I said to Korah and those [Israeli leaders] who were with Korah, “Tomorrow morning Yahweh will show us whom he has chosen to be his [priest], and who is holy and allowed to come near to him. Yahweh will permit [only] those whom he chooses to come into his presence.
6 Faru jenon: prenu al vi incensujojn, Koraĥ kaj lia tuta anaro,
So Korah, tomorrow you and those who are with you must prepare your pans to burn incense.
7 kaj metu sur ilin fajron kaj metu sur ilin incenson antaŭ la Eternulo morgaŭ; kaj kiun la Eternulo elektos, tiu estos la sanktulo. Estas troe, ho Levidoj!
Then you must light a fire in them and burn the incense in the presence of Yahweh. Then we will see which one of us Yahweh has chosen to be his holy servant. It is you men who are descendants of Levi who are trying to use more [authority] than you should!”
8 Kaj Moseo diris al Koraĥ: Aŭskultu do, idoj de Levi:
Then Moses/I spoke again to Korah. He/I said, “You men who are descendants of Levi, listen to me!
9 ĉu ne sufiĉas al vi, ke la Dio de la Izraelidoj distingis vin inter la komunumo de Izrael, por alproksimigi vin al Si, por ke vi plenumu la servojn en la tabernaklo de la Eternulo kaj por ke vi staru antaŭ la komunumo, por servi al ĝi?
The God of us Israelis has chosen all of you to be close to him in order that you can work for him at his Sacred Tent and serve the people. (Is that unimportant/Does that mean nothing) to you [RHQ]?
10 Kaj Li alproksimigos vin kaj ĉiujn viajn fratojn, la idojn de Levi, kun vi; kaj nun vi postulas eĉ pastrecon!
Yahweh has brought you, [Korah], and your fellow descendants of Levi, near to himself. Now are you demanding to become priests also?
11 Tiamaniere vi kaj via tuta anaro ekribelis kontraŭ la Eternulo; sed kio estas Aaron, ke vi murmuras kontraŭ li?
It is really Yahweh against whom you and your fellow descendants of Levi are rebelling. Aaron is not the one about whom you are really complaining [RHQ].”
12 Kaj Moseo sendis voki Datanon kaj Abiramon, filojn de Eliab; sed ili diris: Ni ne iros!
Then Moses/I summoned Dathan and Abiram, but [they refused to come]. They [sent a message] saying, “We will not come to you!
13 Ĉu ne sufiĉas, ke el lando, en kiu fluas lakto kaj mielo, vi elirigis nin, por pereigi nin en la dezerto? kaj vi volas ankoraŭ regi super ni?
You brought us out of Egypt, which was a very fertile [IDM] land, in order to cause us to die here in this desert. That was bad. But now you are also trying to boss us [RHQ], and that is worse.
14 Ja ne en landon, en kiu fluas lakto kaj mielo, vi venigis nin, kaj vi ne donis al ni posedaĵon el kampoj kaj vinberĝardenoj! ĉu vi volas blindigi la okulojn de ĉi tiuj homoj? ni ne iros.
You have not given us a new land to live in, a land that has good fields and vineyards. You are only trying to [RHQ] trick these people. So we will not come to you.”
15 Kaj tio tre kolerigis Moseon, kaj li diris al la Eternulo: Ne turnu Vin al ilia ofero; eĉ unu azenon mi ne prenis de ili, kaj al neniu el ili mi faris ian malbonon.
Then Moses/I became very angry. He/I said to Yahweh, “Do not accept the grain offerings that they have brought. I have not taken anything from them, not even one donkey, and I have never done anything wrong to them, [so they have no reason to complain about me].”
16 Kaj Moseo diris al Koraĥ: Vi kaj via tuta anaro estu antaŭ la Eternulo morgaŭ, vi kaj ili kaj Aaron.
Then Moses/I said to Korah, “You and all those who are with you must come here tomorrow and stand in front of Yahweh. Aaron will also be here.
17 Kaj prenu ĉiu sian incensujon kaj metu sur ĝin incenson, kaj alportu antaŭ la Eternulon ĉiu sian incensujon, ducent kvindek incensujojn; ankaŭ vi kaj Aaron, ĉiu sian incensujon.
You and all the 250 men who are with you must each take a pan in which to burn incense, and put incense in it, to [burn it to be] an offering to Yahweh. Aaron will do the same thing.”
18 Kaj ili prenis ĉiu sian incensujon kaj metis sur ĝin fajron kaj ŝutis sur ĝin incenson, kaj ili stariĝis ĉe la pordo de la tabernaklo de kunveno, ankaŭ Moseo kaj Aaron.
So [the next day] each of those men got a pan to burn incense. They put in it incense and hot coals to light it, and then they all stood at the entrance of the Sacred Tent with Aaron and Moses/me.
19 Kaj kunvenigis kontraŭ ili Koraĥ la tutan anaron ĉe la pordo de la tabernaklo de kunveno; kaj montriĝis la majesto de la Eternulo al la tuta komunumo.
Then Korah summoned all the people who supported him and who were against Moses/me, and they also gathered at the entrance of the tent. Then the glory of Yahweh appeared to all of them/us,
20 Kaj la Eternulo ekparolis al Moseo kaj al Aaron, dirante:
and Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
21 Apartiĝu de ĉi tiu anaro, kaj Mi ekstermos ilin en momento.
“Get away from all these people, in order that I can get rid of them immediately!”
22 Kaj ili ĵetis sin vizaĝaltere, kaj diris: Ho Dio, Dio de la spiritoj de ĉia karno! unu pekis, kaj Vi volas koleri la tutan komunumon?
But Aaron and Moses/I prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground. We pleaded with Yahweh, saying, “God, you are the one who caused all these people to live [MTY]. Only one of these men has sinned; so, (is it right for you to be angry with all the people?/it is not right for you to be angry with all the people!) [RHQ]”
23 Kaj la Eternulo ekparolis al Moseo, dirante:
Yahweh said to Moses/me,
24 Diru al la komunumo jene: Foriru de ĉirkaŭ la loĝejo de Koraĥ, Datan, kaj Abiram.
“[Okay], but tell all the people to get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”
25 Kaj Moseo leviĝis kaj iris al Datan kaj Abiram, kaj post li iris la plejaĝuloj de Izrael.
So Moses/I stood up and went to the tents of Dathan and Abiram. The Israeli leaders followed him/me.
26 Kaj li diris al la komunumo: Foriru do de la tendoj de tiuj malbonaj homoj, kaj tuŝu nenion, kio apartenas al ili, por ke vi ne pereu pro ĉiuj iliaj pekoj.
He/I told the people, “Get away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything that belongs to them! If you touch anything, you will die because of their sins!”
27 Kaj ili foriris de ĉirkaŭ la loĝejo de Koraĥ, Datan, kaj Abiram; sed Datan kaj Abiram eliris, kaj staris ĉe la pordo de siaj tendoj kune kun siaj edzinoj, filoj, kaj malgrandaj infanoj.
So all the people moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram came out of their tents with their wives and children and babies, and stood at the entrances of their tents.
28 Kaj Moseo diris: Per tio vi ekscios, ke la Eternulo sendis min, por fari ĉiujn tiujn aferojn, kaj ke mi ne faris laŭ mia koro:
Then Moses/I said, “I was not the one who decided to do all these things that I have done. It was Yahweh who [chose me and] sent me to do them. And now he will prove that to you.
29 se per la ordinara morto de ĉiuj homoj mortos ĉi tiuj, aŭ ilin trafos la sorto, kiu povas trafi ĉiun homon, tiam ne la Eternulo sendis min.
If these men die in a normal way, then it will be clear that Yahweh did not choose me.
30 Sed se novan aperon kreos la Eternulo, kaj la tero malfermos sian buŝon, kaj englutos ilin, kaj ĉion, kio apartenas al ili, kaj ili vivaj malsupreniros en Ŝeolon, tiam sciu, ke ĉi tiuj homoj blasfemis kontraŭ la Eternulo. (Sheol h7585)
But if Yahweh does something that has never happened before, if he causes the ground [that is under their feet] to open up and swallow these men [and their families] and all their possessions, and they fall into the opening and are buried while they are still alive, then you will know that these men have insulted Yahweh.” (Sheol h7585)
31 Apenaŭ li finis paroli ĉion tion, disfendiĝis la tero, kiu estis sub ili;
As soon as Moses/I said this, the ground split open beneath those men.
32 kaj la tero malfermis sian buŝon kaj englutis ilin kaj iliajn domojn kaj ĉiujn homojn de Koraĥ kaj la tutan havon.
It swallowed them and their families and all those who were standing there with Korah and all of their possessions.
33 Kaj ili, kaj ĉio, kio apartenis al ili, malsupreniris vivaj en Ŝeolon, kaj fermiĝis super ili la tero, kaj ili forpereis el inter la komunumo. (Sheol h7585)
They fell into the opening in the ground while they were still alive, and all their possessions fell into the opening also. They disappeared, and the ground closed back up again. (Sheol h7585)
34 Kaj ĉiuj Izraelidoj, kiuj estis ĉirkaŭ ili, forkuris ĉe ilia krio; ĉar ili diris: Ke nin ankaŭ la tero ne englutu.
They screamed as they fell, and all the people who were standing nearby heard them scream. The people [were terrified and] cried out as they ran away, saying, “[We do not want] the ground to swallow us also!”
35 Kaj fajro eliris de la Eternulo, kaj ĝi forbruligis tiujn ducent kvindek homojn, kiuj alportis la incenson.
And then a fire from Yahweh came down [from the sky] and burned up the 250 men who were burning the incense!
36 Kaj la Eternulo ekparolis al Moseo, dirante:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
37 Diru al Eleazar, filo de la pastro Aaron, ke li levu la incensujojn el la brulintaĵo, sed la fajron disĵetu malproksimen; ĉar sanktiĝis
“Tell Aaron’s son Eleazar to take the pans that had incense in them away from the fire and to scatter the burning coals. The pans that those men [were carrying] are (holy/dedicated to me) [because they burned incense to me in them].
38 la incensujoj de tiuj, kiuj per sia vivo pagis pro la peko; kaj oni faru el ili tavoletojn, por tegi la altaron; ĉar oni alportis ilin antaŭ la Eternulon, kaj ili sanktiĝis; kaj ili estu memoriga signo por la Izraelidoj.
Those men have now died because of their sin; so [Eleazar must] take their pans and hammer the metal to make it become very thin. He must make a covering for the altar with that metal. Those pans were used to offer incense to me, so they are (holy/dedicated to me). [What happened to] those pans will now warn the Israeli people.”
39 Kaj Eleazar, la pastro, prenis la kuprajn incensujojn, kiujn alportis la bruligitaj, kaj tavoligis ilin, por tegi la altaron
So Eleazar the priest collected the 250 pans for burning incense that had been used by the men who died in the fire. He hammered the pans very thin to make a covering for the altar, as Yahweh told Moses/me should be done.
40 memorige por la Izraelidoj, ke laiko, kiu ne estas el la idoj de Aaron, ne alproksimiĝu, por incensi antaŭ la Eternulo, por ke li ne fariĝu kiel Koraĥ kaj lia anaro, kiel diris la Eternulo al li per Moseo.
That warned the Israeli people that only those who were descendants of Aaron were permitted to burn incense for an offering to Yahweh. If anyone else did that, the same thing that happened to Korah and those who were with him would happen to them.
41 Kaj en la sekvanta tago la tuta komunumo de la Izraelidoj ekmurmuris kontraŭ Moseo kaj kontraŭ Aaron, dirante: Vi mortigis la popolon de la Eternulo.
But the following morning, all the Israeli people started to complain against Aaron and Moses/me, saying “You have killed many people who belonged to Yahweh!”
42 Kaj kiam kolektiĝis la komunumo kontraŭ Moseo kaj kontraŭ Aaron, ili turniĝis al la tabernaklo de kunveno; kaj jen kovris ĝin la nubo kaj aperis la majesto de la Eternulo.
When all the people gathered together to protest about what Aaron and Moses/I had done, they looked at the Sacred Tent and saw that the sacred cloud had covered it, and the glory of Yahweh had appeared.
43 Kaj eniris Moseo kaj Aaron en la antaŭan parton de la tabernaklo de kunveno.
Aaron and Moses/I went and stood in front of the Sacred Tent.
44 Kaj la Eternulo ekparolis al Moseo, dirante:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
45 Foriĝu el inter ĉi tiu komunumo, kaj Mi pereigos ilin en momento. Sed ili ĵetiĝis vizaĝaltere.
“Get away from these people, in order that I can get rid of them immediately [without injuring you two]!” But Aaron and Moses/I prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground [and prayed].
46 Kaj Moseo diris al Aaron: Prenu vian incensujon kaj metu sur ĝin fajron de la altaro kaj ŝutu sur ĝin incenson kaj iru rapide al la komunumo kaj pekliberigu ĝin; ĉar eliris kolero de antaŭ la Eternulo, komenciĝis la frapado.
Moses/I said to Aaron, “Quickly take another pan and put in it some burning/hot coals from the altar. Put incense in the pan, and carry it out among the people to atone for the sins of the people. Yahweh is very angry with them, and [I know that] a (severe plague/bad sickness) has already started among them.”
47 Tiam Aaron prenis, kiel diris Moseo, kaj kuris en la mezon de la komunumo; kaj jen komenciĝis jam la frapado en la popolo. Kaj li metis la incenson kaj pekliberigis la popolon.
So Aaron did what Moses/I told him. He took the burning incense out among the people. The plague had already started to strike the people, but Aaron continued to burn the incense so that God would forgive them for the sins they had committed.
48 Li stariĝis inter la mortintoj kaj la vivantoj, kaj la frapado ĉesiĝis.
He stood between the people who had already died and those who were still alive, and then the plague stopped.
49 Kaj la nombro de la mortintoj de la frapado estis dek kvar mil sepcent, krom tiuj, kiuj mortis pro Koraĥ.
But 14,700 people had already died from that plague/sickness, in addition to the people who died with Korah.
50 Kaj Aaron revenis al Moseo al la pordo de la tabernaklo de kunveno; kaj la frapado ĉesiĝis.
Then after the plague had ended, Aaron and Moses/I returned to the entrance of the Sacred Tent.
