Neĥemja 6

1 Kiam Sanbalat, Tobija, la Arabo Geŝem, kaj niaj ceteraj malamikoj aŭdis, ke mi rekonstruis la muregon kaj ke ne restis en ĝi difektoj (kvankam ĝis tiu tempo mi ankoraŭ ne starigis pordojn en la pordegoj),

Now it came to pass, when Sanaballat, and Tobias, and Gesam the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and [that] there was no opening left therein; ([but] hitherto I had not set up the doors on the gates; )

2 tiam Sanbalat kaj Geŝem sendis, por diri al mi: Venu, ni kune kunvenu en la vilaĝoj de la valo Ono. Ili intencis fari al mi malbonon.

that Sanaballat and Gesam sent to me, saying, Come and let us meet together in the villages in the plain of Ono. But they [were] plotting to do me mischief.

3 Sed mi sendis al ili senditojn, por diri: Mi faras grandan laboron, kaj mi ne povas iri; kial ĉesiĝu la laborado, kiam mi ĝin forlasos kaj iros al vi?

So I sent messengers to them, saying, I am doing a great work, and I shall not be able to come down, lest the work should cease: as soon as I shall have finished it, I will come down to you.

4 Kaj ili sendis al mi la saman proponon kvar fojojn, kaj mi respondis tion saman.

And they sent to me [again] to this effect; and I sent them [word] accordingly.

5 Kaj Sanbalat sendis al mi kun la sama propono la kvinan fojon sian junulon, kiu havis en sia mano nefermitan leteron.

Then Sanaballat sent his servant to me with an open letter in his hand.

6 En ĝi estis skribite: Inter la nacioj iras la famo, kaj Geŝem diras, ke vi kaj la Judoj intencas defali; por tio vi konstruas la muregon; kaj laŭ tiu famo vi volas esti ilia reĝo.

And in it was written, It has been reported amongst the Gentiles that you and the Jews are planning to revolt: therefore you are building the wall, and you will be a king to them.

7 Ankaŭ profetojn vi starigis, por ke ili prediku pri vi en Jerusalem, dirante: Estas reĝo en Judujo. Nun la famo pri tio venos al la reĝo; venu do, ke ni kune interkonsiliĝu.

And moreover you has appointed prophets to yourself, that you might dwell in Jerusalem as a king over Juda: and now these words will be reported to the king. Now then, come, let us take counsel together.

8 Sed mi sendis al li, por diri: Nenio fariĝis el tio, kion vi diras; vi mem tion elpensis.

And I sent to him, saying, It has not happened according to these words, [even] as you say, for you frame them falsely out of your heart.

9 Ili ĉiuj ja timigis nin, pensante: Ili ellasos el siaj manoj la laboron, kaj ĝi ne estos farata. Sed nun fortiĝu miaj manoj.

For all were trying to alarm us, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from this work, and it shall not be done. Now therefore I have strengthened my hands.

10 Kaj mi venis en la domon de Ŝemaja, filo de Delaja, filo de Mehetabel; li sin enŝlosis. Kaj li diris: Ni iru kune en la domon de Dio, en la mezon de la templo, kaj ni ŝlosu la pordojn de la templo; ĉar oni venos, por mortigi vin, en la nokto oni venos, por mortigi vin.

And I came into the house of Semei the son of Dalaia the Son of Metabeel, and he was shut up; and he said, Let us assemble together in the house of God, in the midst of it, and let us shut the doors of it; for they are coming by night to kill you.

11 Sed mi diris: Ĉu tia homo, kiel mi, forkuru? ĉu tia, kiel mi, iru en la templon, por konservi la vivon? mi ne iros.

And I said, Who is the man that shall enter into the house, that he may live?

12 Mi komprenis, ke ne Dio lin sendis; ĉar la profetaĵon li eldiris pri mi pro tio, ke Tobija kaj Sanbalat lin subaĉetis.

And I observed, and, behold, God had not sent him, for the prophecy was a fable [devised] against me:

13 Li estis subaĉetita, por ke mi timu, por ke mi agu tiel kaj peku. Tio donus al ili pretekston por malbona famo, por ke ili min malhonoru.

and Tobias and Sanaballat had hired against me a multitude, that I might be frightened, and do this, and sin, and become to them an ill name, that they might reproach me.

14 Rememoru, ho mia Dio, pri Tobija kaj Sanbalat tiujn iliajn farojn, ankaŭ pri la profetino Noadja, kaj la aliaj profetoj, kiuj timigis min.

Remember, O God, Tobias and Sanaballat, according to these their deeds, and the prophetess Noadia, and the rest of the prophets who tried to alarm me.

15 La murego estis finita en la dudek-kvina tago de la monato Elul, en la daŭro de kvindek du tagoj.

So the wall was finished on the twenty-fifth day of the [month] Elul, in fifty-two days.

16 Kiam tion aŭdis ĉiuj niaj malamikoj, kaj vidis ĉiuj nacioj, kiuj estis ĉirkaŭ ni, ili multe perdis la kuraĝon; ĉar ili komprenis, ke tiu laboro estas farita de nia Dio.

And it came to pass, when all our enemies heard [of it], that all the nations round about us feared, and great alarm fell upon them, and they knew that it was of our God that this work should be finished.

17 Krom tio, en tiuj tagoj la eminentuloj el la Judoj skribis multe da leteroj al Tobija, kaj leteroj de Tobija venis al ili;

And in those days letters came to Tobias from many nobles of Juda, and those of Tobias came to them.

18 ĉar multaj el la Judoj estis en ĵura ligo kun li, ĉar li estis bofilo de Ŝeĥanja, filo de Araĥ, kaj lia filo Jehoĥanan prenis por edzino filinon de Meŝulam, filo de Bereĥja.

For many in Juda were bound to him by oath, because he was son-in-law of Sechenias the son of Herae; and Jonan his son had taken the daughter of Mesulam the son of Barachia to wife.

19 Ili ankaŭ paroladis bone pri li antaŭ mi, kaj miajn vortojn ili transdonadis al li. Tobija sendis leterojn, por timigi min.

And they reported his words to me, and carried out my words to him: and Tobias sent letters to terrify me.
