Ijob 28
1 La arĝento havas lokon, kie oni ĝin elakiras; Kaj la oro havas lokon, kie oni ĝin fandas.
Truly there is a vein for silver, And a place for gold, which men refine.
2 La fero estas ricevata el polvo, Kaj el ŝtono oni fandas la kupron.
Iron is obtained from earth, And stone is melted into copper.
3 Oni faras finon al la mallumo, Kaj rezulte oni trovas la ŝtonojn el grandega mallumo.
Man putteth an end to darkness; He searcheth to the lowest depths For the stone of darkness and the shadow of death.
4 Oni fosas kavon tie, kie oni loĝas; Kaj tie, kie paŝas neniu piedo, ili laboras pendante, forgesitaj de homoj.
From the place where they dwell they open a shaft; Forgotten by the feet, They hang down, they swing away from men.
5 La tero, el kiu devenas pano, Estas trafosata sube kvazaŭ per fajro.
The earth, out of which cometh bread, Is torn up underneath, as it were by fire.
6 Ĝiaj ŝtonoj estas loko de safiroj, Kaj terbuloj enhavas oron.
Her stones are the place of sapphires, And she hath clods of gold for man.
7 La vojon ne konas rabobirdo, Kaj la okulo de falko ĝin ne vidis.
The path thereto no bird knoweth, And the vulture's eye hath not seen it;
8 Ne paŝis sur ĝi sovaĝaj bestoj, Ne iris sur ĝi leono.
The fierce wild beast hath not trodden it; The lion hath not passed over it.
9 Sur rokon oni metas sian manon, Oni renversas montojn de ilia bazo.
Man layeth his hand upon the rock; He upturneth mountains from their roots;
10 En rokoj oni elhakas riverojn, Kaj ĉion grandvaloran vidis la okulo de homo.
He cleaveth out streams in the rocks, And his eye seeth every precious thing;
11 Oni haltigas la fluon de riveroj, Kaj kaŝitaĵon oni eltiras al la lumo.
He bindeth up the streams, that they trickle not, And bringeth hidden things to light.
12 Sed kie oni trovas la saĝon? Kaj kie estas la loko de prudento?
But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?
13 La homo ne scias ĝian prezon; Kaj ĝi ne estas trovata sur la tero de vivantoj.
Man knoweth not the price thereof, Nor can it be found in the land of the living.
14 La abismo diras: Ne en mi ĝi estas; La maro diras: Ĝi ne troviĝas ĉe mi.
The deep saith, It is not in me; And the sea saith, It is not with me.
15 Oni ne povas doni por ĝi plej bonan oron, Oni ne pesas arĝenton page por ĝi.
It cannot be gotten for gold, Nor shall silver be weighed out as the price thereof.
16 Oni ne taksas ĝin per oro Ofira, Nek per multekosta onikso kaj safiro.
It cannot be bought with the gold of Ophir, With the precious onyx or the sapphire.
17 Ne valoregalas al ĝi oro kaj vitro; Kaj oni ne povas ŝanĝi ĝin kontraŭ vazoj el pura oro.
Gold and crystal are not to be compared with it; Nor can it be purchased with jewels of fine gold.
18 Koraloj kaj kristalo ne estas atentataj; Kaj posedo de saĝo estas pli valora ol perloj.
No mention shall be made of coral or of crystal; For wisdom is more precious than pearls.
19 Ne valoregalas al ĝi topazo el Etiopujo; Pura oro ne povas esti ĝia prezo.
The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, Nor can it be purchased with pure gold.
20 De kie venas la saĝo? Kaj kie estas la loko de prudento?
Whence then cometh wisdom? And where is the place of understanding?
21 Kaŝita ĝi estas antaŭ la okuloj de ĉio vivanta, Nevidebla por la birdoj de la ĉielo.
Since it is hidden from the eyes of all living, And kept close from the fowls of the air.
22 La abismo kaj la morto diras: Per niaj oreloj ni aŭdis nur famon pri ĝi.
Destruction and Death say, We have heard a rumor of it with our ears.
23 Dio komprenas ĝian vojon, Kaj Li scias ĝian lokon;
God knoweth the way to it; He knoweth its dwelling-place.
24 Ĉar Li rigardas ĝis la fino de la tero, Li vidas sub la tuta ĉielo.
For he seeth to the ends of the earth, And surveyeth all things under the whole heaven.
25 Kiam Li donis pezon al la vento Kaj aranĝis la akvon laŭmezure,
When he gave the winds their weight, And meted out the waters by measure;
26 Kiam Li starigis leĝon por la pluvo Kaj vojon por la fulmo kaj tondro:
When he prescribed a law to the rain, And a path to the thunder-flash, —
27 Tiam Li vidis ĝin kaj anoncis ĝin, Pretigis ĝin kaj esploris ĝin;
Then did he see it, and make it known; He established it, and searched it out.
28 Kaj Li diris al la homoj: Vidu, timo antaŭ Dio estas saĝo, Kaj evitado de malbono estas prudento.
But he said unto man, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is understanding.
