1 Kaj iris unu homo el la domo de Levi kaj prenis edzinon Leviidinon.
And there goeth a man of the house of Levi, and he taketh the daughter of Levi,
2 Kaj la virino gravediĝis, kaj naskis filon; kaj ŝi vidis, ke li estas bela, kaj ŝi kaŝis lin dum tri monatoj.
and the woman conceiveth, and beareth a son, and she seeth him that he [is] fair, and she hideth him three months,
3 Sed ŝi ne povis plu kaŝi lin, tial ŝi prenis por li keston el kanoj kaj ĉirkaŭŝmiris ĝin per asfalto kaj peĉo, kaj metis tien la infanon kaj metis ĝin inter la kanojn sur la bordo de la Rivero.
and she hath not been able any more to hide him, and she taketh for him an ark of rushes, and daubeth it with bitumen and with pitch, and putteth the lad in it, and putteth [it] in the weeds by the edge of the River;
4 Kaj lia fratino stariĝis malproksime, por sciiĝi, kio fariĝos kun li.
and his sister stationeth herself afar off, to know what is done to him.
5 Kaj la filino de Faraono malsupreniris, por lavi sin en la Rivero, kaj ŝiaj servantinoj iradis sur la bordo de la Rivero. Ŝi ekvidis la keston meze de la kanoj, kaj ŝi sendis sian sklavinon, ke ŝi ĝin prenu.
And a daughter of Pharaoh cometh down to bathe at the River, and her damsels are walking by the side of the River, and she seeth the ark in the midst of the weeds, and sendeth her handmaid, and she taketh it,
6 Ŝi malfermis, kaj ekvidis la infanon; ĝi estis knabeto, kiu ploris. Kaj ŝi kompatis lin, kaj diris: Ĝi estas el la Hebreaj infanoj.
and openeth, and seeth him — the lad, and lo, a child weeping! and she hath pity on him, and saith, 'This is [one] of the Hebrews' children.'
7 Tiam lia fratino diris al la filino de Faraono: Ĉu mi iru kaj voku al vi virinon nutrantinon el la Hebreinoj, ke ŝi nutru por vi la infanon?
And his sister saith unto the daughter of Pharaoh, 'Do I go? when I have called for thee a suckling woman of the Hebrews, then she doth suckle the lad for thee;'
8 Kaj la filino de Faraono diris al ŝi: Iru. Kaj la knabino iris kaj vokis la patrinon de la infano.
and the daughter of Pharaoh saith to her, 'Go;' and the virgin goeth, and calleth the mother of the lad,
9 Kaj la filino de Faraono diris al ŝi: Prenu ĉi tiun infanon kaj nutru ĝin por mi, kaj mi pagos al vi. Kaj la virino prenis la infanon kaj nutris ĝin.
and the daughter of Pharaoh saith to her, 'Take this lad away, and suckle him for me, and I — I give thy hire;' and the woman taketh the lad, and suckleth him.
10 Kiam la infano grandiĝis, ŝi alportis lin al la filino de Faraono, kaj li fariĝis filo por ŝi, kaj ŝi donis al li la nomon Moseo, dirante: El la akvo mi lin eltiris.
And the lad groweth, and she bringeth him in to the daughter of Pharaoh, and he is to her for a son, and she calleth his name Moses, and saith, 'Because — from the water I have drawn him.'
11 En la tempo, kiam Moseo estis jam granda, li eliris al siaj fratoj kaj vidis iliajn malfacilajn laborojn; kaj li vidis, ke Egipto batas iun Hebreon el liaj fratoj.
And it cometh to pass, in those days, that Moses is grown, and he goeth out unto his brethren, and looketh on their burdens, and seeth a man, an Egyptian, smiting a man, a Hebrew, [one] of his brethren,
12 Tiam li turnis sin unuflanken kaj aliflanken, kaj vidinte, ke estas neniu, mortigis la Egipton kaj kaŝis lin en la sablo.
and he turneth hither and thither, and seeth that there is no man, and smiteth the Egyptian, and hideth him in the sand.
13 Kaj li eliris en la sekvanta tago, kaj vidis, ke du Hebreoj malpacas. Kaj li diris al la ofendanto: Kial vi batas vian proksimulon?
And he goeth out on the second day, and lo, two men, Hebrews, striving! and he saith to the wrong-doer, 'Why dost thou smite thy neighbour?'
14 Kaj tiu diris: Kiu faris vin estro kaj juĝanto super ni? ĉu vi intencas mortigi min, kiel vi mortigis la Egipton? Tiam Moseo ektimis, kaj diris: Videble la afero fariĝis sciata.
and he saith, 'Who set thee for a head and a judge over us? to slay me art thou saying [it], as thou hast slain the Egyptian?' and Moses feareth, and saith, 'Surely the thing hath been known.'
15 Kaj Faraono aŭdis pri tiu afero kaj deziris mortigi Moseon. Sed Moseo forkuris de Faraono kaj ekloĝis en la lando Midjana, kaj li loĝis apud puto.
And Pharaoh heareth of this thing, and seeketh to slay Moses, and Moses fleeth from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelleth in the land of Midian, and dwelleth by the well.
16 La pastro Midjana havis sep filinojn. Kaj ili venis kaj ĉerpis akvon kaj plenigis la trogojn, por trinkigi la ŝafojn de sia patro.
And to a priest of Midian [are] seven daughters, and they come and draw, and fill the troughs, to water the flock of their father,
17 Sed venis la paŝtistoj kaj forpelis ilin. Tiam Moseo leviĝis kaj helpis ilin kaj trinkigis iliajn ŝafojn.
and the shepherds come and drive them away, and Moses ariseth, and saveth them, and watereth their flock.
18 Kiam ili venis al sia patro Reuel, li diris: Kial vi tiel baldaŭ venis hodiaŭ?
And they come in to Reuel their father, and he saith, 'Wherefore have ye hastened to come in to-day?'
19 Kaj ili diris: Iu Egipto savis nin el la manoj de la paŝtistoj, kaj li eĉ ĉerpis por ni kaj trinkigis la ŝafojn.
and they say, 'A man, an Egyptian, hath delivered us out of the hand of the shepherds, and also hath diligently drawn for us, and watereth the flock;'
20 Tiam li diris al siaj filinoj: Kie do li estas? kial vi forlasis tiun homon? voku lin, ke li manĝu panon.
and he saith unto his daughters, 'And where [is] he? why [is] this? — ye left the man! call for him, and he doth eat bread.'
21 Kaj Moseo konsentis loĝi ĉe tiu homo; kaj tiu donis sian filinon Cipora al Moseo.
And Moses is willing to dwell with the man, and he giveth Zipporah his daughter to Moses,
22 Kaj ŝi naskis filon, kaj li donis al li la nomon Gerŝom, ĉar li diris: Fremdulo mi estis en lando fremda.
and she beareth a son, and he calleth his name Gershom, for he said, 'A sojourner I have been in a strange land.'
23 Post longa tempo mortis la reĝo de Egiptujo. Kaj la Izraelidoj ĝemis pro la laboroj kaj kriis, kaj ilia kriado pro la laboroj venis supren al Dio.
And it cometh to pass during these many days, that the king of Egypt dieth, and the sons of Israel sigh because of the service, and cry, and their cry goeth up unto God, because of the service;
24 Kaj Dio aŭdis ilian ĝemadon, kaj Dio rememoris Sian interligon kun Abraham, Isaak, kaj Jakob.
and God heareth their groaning, and God remembereth His covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob;
25 Kaj Dio rigardis la Izraelidojn, kaj Dio rememoris ilin.
and God seeth the sons of Israel, and God knoweth.
