1 Kiam Atalja, la patrino de Aĥazja, vidis, ke ŝia filo mortis, ŝi leviĝis kaj ekstermis la tutan reĝan idaron.

And Athalia the mother of Ochozias seeing that her son was dead, arose, and slew all the royal seed.

2 Sed Jehoŝeba, filino de la reĝo Joram kaj fratino de Aĥazja, prenis Joaŝon, filon de Aĥazja, kaj ŝtele forkondukis lin el inter la mortigataj filoj de la reĝo, lin kaj lian nutristinon, kaj lokis ilin en la ĉambro de litoj; kaj oni kaŝis lin for de Atalja, kaj li ne estis mortigita.

But Josaba the daughter of king Joram, sister of Ochozias, took Joas the son of Ochozias, and stole him from among the king’s sons that were slain, out of the bedchamber with his nurse: and hid him from the face of Athalia, so that he was not slain.

3 Kaj li restis kaŝita kun ŝi en la domo de la Eternulo dum ses jaroj; kaj Atalja reĝis super la lando.

And he was with her six years hid in the house of the Lord. And Athalia reigned over the land.

4 Sed en la sepa jaro sendis Jehojada kaj prenis la centestrojn el la korpogardistoj kaj la kuristoj kaj venigis ilin al si en la domon de la Eternulo; kaj li faris kun ili interligon kaj ĵurigis ilin en la domo de la Eternulo kaj montris al ili la filon de la reĝo.

And in the seventh year Joiada seat, and taking the centurions and the soldiers, brought them in to him into the temple of the Lord, and made a covenant with them: and taking an oath of them in the house of the Lord, shewed them the king’s son:

5 Kaj li ordonis al ili, dirante: Jenon vi devas fari: tiu triono de vi, kiu venas en sabato, plenumu gardadon en la domo de la reĝo;

And he commanded them, saying: This is the thing that you must do:

6 triono estu ĉe la Pordego Sur; kaj triono ĉe la pordego malantaŭ la korpogardistoj. Kaj plenumu la gardadon de la domo alterne.

Let a third part of you go in on the sabbath, and keep the watch of the king’s house. And let a third part be at the gate of Sur: and let a third part be at the gate behind the dwelling of the shieldbearers: and you shall keep the watch of the house of Messa.

7 Du partoj el vi ĉiuj, kiuj foriras en sabato, plenumu gardadon ĉe la reĝo en la domo de la Eternulo.

But let two parts of you, all that go forth on the sabbath, keep the watch of the house of the Lord about the king.

8 Kaj ĉirkaŭu la reĝon ĉiuflanke, ĉiu kun sia batalilo en la mano; kaj se iu eniros en la vicojn, oni lin mortigu. Kaj estu apud la reĝo, kiam li eliros aŭ eniros.

And you shall compass him round about, having weapons in your hands: and if any man shall enter the precinct of the temple, let him be slain: and you shall be with the king coming in and going out.

9 Kaj la centestroj faris ĉion, kion ordonis la pastro Jehojada; kaj ĉiu prenis siajn homojn, la sabate venantajn kaj la sabate forirantajn, kaj venis al la pastro Jehojada.

And the centurions did according to all things that Joiada the priest had commanded them: and taking every one their men, that went in on the sabbath, with them that went out on the sabbath, came to Joiada the priest.

10 La pastro disdonis al la centestroj la lancojn kaj ŝildojn, kiuj apartenis al la reĝo David kaj kiuj estis en la domo de la Eternulo.

And he gave them the spears, and the arms of king David, which were in the house of the Lord.

11 Kaj la korpogardistoj stariĝis, ĉiu kun siaj bataliloj en la mano, de la dekstra flanko de la domo ĝis la maldekstra flanko de la domo, ĉe la altaro kaj ĉe la domo, ĉirkaŭe de la reĝo.

And they stood having every one their weapons in their hands, from the right side of the temple, unto the left side of the altar, and of the temple, about the king.

12 Kaj li elkondukis la reĝidon kaj metis sur lin la kronon kaj la ateston; kaj oni proklamis lin reĝo kaj sanktoleis lin, kaj oni aplaŭdis kaj kriis: Vivu la reĝo!

And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the diadem upon him, and the testimony: and they made him king, and anointed him: and clapping their hands. they said, God save the king.

13 Kiam Atalja aŭdis la bruon de la kuranta popolo, ŝi iris al la popolo en la domon de la Eternulo.

And Athalia heard the noise of the people running: and going in to the people into the temple of the Lord,

14 Kaj ŝi ekvidis, ke jen la reĝo staras ĉe la kolono, laŭ la moro, kaj la eminentuloj kaj la trumpetistoj apud la reĝo, kaj la tuta popolo de la lando ĝojas, kaj oni trumpetas. Tiam Atalja disŝiris siajn vestojn, kaj ekkriis: Konspiro, konspiro!

She saw the king standing upon a tribunal, as the manner was, and the singers, and the trumpets near him, and all the people of the land rejoicing, and sounding the trumpets: and she rent her garments, and cried: A conspiracy, a conspiracy.

15 Kaj la pastro Jehojada ordonis al la centestroj, la estroj de la militistaro, kaj diris al ili: Elkonduku ŝin ekster la vicojn, kaj ĉiun, kiu ŝin sekvos, mortigu per glavo; ĉar la pastro diris: Oni ne mortigu ŝin en la domo de la Eternulo.

But Joiada commended the centurions that were over the army, and said to them: Have her forth without the precinct of the temple, and whosoever shall follow her, let him be slain with the sword. For the priest had said: Let her not be slain in the temple of the Lord.

16 Kaj oni liberigis por ŝi lokon, kaj ŝi iris laŭ la vojo de la ĉevaloj al la reĝa domo, kaj tie oni ŝin mortigis.

And they laid hands on her: and thrust her out by the way by which the horses go in, by the palace, and she was slain there.

17 Kaj Jehojada faris interligon inter la Eternulo kaj la reĝo kaj la popolo, ke ĝi estu popolo de la Eternulo; kaj inter la reĝo kaj la popolo.

And Joiada made a covenant between the Lord, and the king, and the people, that they should be the people of the Lord, and between the king and the people.

18 Kaj la tuta popolo de la lando iris en la domon de Baal kaj ĝin detruis; kaj liajn altarojn kaj liajn bildojn ili tute disrompis; kaj Matanon, la pastron de Baal, ili mortigis antaŭ la altaroj. Kaj la pastro starigis oficistaron en la domo de la Eternulo.

And all the people of the land went into the temple of Baal, and broke down his altars, and his images they broke in pieces thoroughly: they slew also Mathan the priest of Baal before the altar. And the priest set guards in the house of the Lord.

19 Kaj li prenis la centestrojn kaj la korpogardistojn kaj la kuristojn kaj la tutan popolon de la lando, kaj ili kondukis la reĝon el la domo de la Eternulo, kaj ili venis per la pordego de la kuristoj en la reĝan domon; kaj li sidiĝis sur la trono de la reĝoj.

And he took the centurions, and the bands of the Cerethi and the Phelethi, and all the people of the land, and they brought the king from the house of the Lord: and they came by the way of the gate of the shieldbearers into the palace. and he sat on the throne of the kings.

20 Kaj la tuta popolo de la lando ĝojis, kaj la urbo estis trankvila. Sed Ataljan oni mortigis per glavo en la reĝa domo.

And all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet: but Athalia was slain with the sword in the king’s house.

21 La aĝon de sep jaroj havis Jehoaŝ, kiam li fariĝis reĝo.

Now Joas was seven years old, when he began to reign.
