1 Kiam Reĥabeam venis en Jerusalemon, li kolektis el la domo de Jehuda kaj de Benjamen cent okdek mil elektitajn militistojn, por militi kontraŭ Izrael, por revenigi la regnon al Reĥabeam.
Then Rehoboam went to Jerusalem, and he called together the entire house of Judah and of Benjamin, one hundred eighty thousand elect men of war, so that he might contend against Israel, and turn back his kingdom to himself.
2 Sed aperis vorto de la Eternulo al Ŝemaja, homo de Dio, dirante:
And the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, the man of God, saying:
3 Diru al Reĥabeam, filo de Salomono, reĝo de Judujo, kaj al ĉiuj Izraelidoj en la lando de Jehuda kaj de Benjamen jene:
“Speak to Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, the king of Judah, and to all of Israel who are of Judah, or of Benjamin:
4 Tiele diras la Eternulo: Ne iru kaj ne militu kontraŭ viaj fratoj; reiru ĉiu al sia domo, ĉar de Mi estas farita ĉi tiu afero. Kaj ili obeis la vortojn de la Eternulo, kaj rifuzis iri kontraŭ Jerobeamon.
Thus says the Lord: You shall not ascend and fight against your brothers. Let each one return to his own house. For it is by my will that this has happened.” And when they had heard the word of the Lord, they turned back, and they did not continue on against Jeroboam.
5 Reĥabeam loĝis en Jerusalem, kaj li konstruis fortikaĵojn en la urboj de Judujo.
Then Rehoboam lived in Jerusalem, and he built fortified cities in Judah.
6 Li prikonstruis Bet-Leĥemon, Etamon, Tekoan,
And he built up Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
7 Bet-Curon, Soĥon, Adulamon,
and also Bethzur, and Soco, and Adullam,
8 Gaton, Mareŝan, Zifon,
indeed also Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
9 Adoraimon, Laĥiŝon, Azekan,
then too Adoram, and Lachish, and Azekah,
10 Corean, Ajalonon, kaj Ĥebronon, kiuj estis urboj fortikigitaj en la lando de Jehuda kaj de Benjamen.
as well as Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which were very fortified cities in Judah and in Benjamin.
11 Li fortigis tiujn fortikaĵojn kaj starigis tie estrojn, aranĝis provizejojn de manĝaĵoj, oleo, kaj vino.
And when he had enclosed them with walls, he placed in them rulers, and storehouses of provisions, that is, of oil and wine.
12 Kaj en ĉiu urbo li kolektis ŝildojn kaj lancojn, kaj tre fortigis ilin. Kaj Jehuda kaj Benjamen restis liaj.
Moreover, in each city he made an armory of shields and spears, and he strengthened them with the utmost diligence. And he ruled over Judah and Benjamin.
13 La pastroj kaj Levidoj, kiuj estis en la tuta lando de Izrael, kolektiĝis al li el ĉiuj siaj regionoj;
Then the priests and Levites, who were in all of Israel, came to him from all their settlements,
14 la Levidoj forlasis siajn antaŭurbojn kaj sian posedaĵon kaj iris en Judujon kaj Jerusalemon, ĉar Jerobeam kaj liaj filoj forpuŝis ilin de la pastrado al la Eternulo.
leaving behind their suburbs and possessions, and crossing over to Judah and to Jerusalem. For Jeroboam and his followers had cast them out, so that they could not exercise the priestly office to the Lord.
15 Li starigis ĉe si pastrojn por la altaĵoj, por la kaproj kaj bovidoj, kiujn li faris.
And he appointed for himself priests of high places, and of demons, and of calves that he had made.
16 Post ili el ĉiuj triboj de Izrael tiuj homoj, kiuj havis la inklinon turnadi sin al la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael, venadis en Jerusalemon, por fari oferojn al la Eternulo, Dio de iliaj patroj.
Moreover, out of all the tribes of Israel, whosoever would give their heart so that they sought the Lord God of Israel, they went to Jerusalem to immolate their victims before the Lord, the God of their fathers.
17 Kaj ili fortigadis la regnon de Judujo, kaj subtenadis Reĥabeamon, filon de Salomono, dum tri jaroj; ĉar ili iradis laŭ la vojo de David kaj Salomono dum tri jaroj.
And they strengthened the kingdom of Judah, and they confirmed Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, for three years. For they walked in the ways of David and of Solomon, but only for three years.
18 Reĥabeam prenis al si kiel edzinon Maĥalaton, filinon de Jerimot, filo de David, kaj de Abiĥail, filino de Eliab, filo de Jiŝaj.
Then Rehoboam took as wife Mahalath, the daughter of Jerimoth, son of David, and also Abihail, the daughter of Eliab, son of Jesse.
19 Ŝi naskis al li filojn: Jeuŝ, Ŝemarja, kaj Zaham.
They bore sons for him: Jeush, and Shemariah, and Zaham.
20 Post ŝi li prenis Maaĥan, filinon de Abŝalom; kaj ŝi naskis al li Abijan, Atajon, Zizan, kaj Ŝelomiton.
And also after her, he married Maacah, the daughter of Absalom, who bore for him Abijah, and Attai, and Ziza, and Shelomith.
21 Reĥabeam amis Maaĥan, filinon de Abŝalom, pli ol ĉiujn siajn edzinojn kaj kromvirinojn; ĉar li havis dek ok edzinojn kaj sesdek kromvirinojn, kaj li naskigis dudek ok filojn kaj sesdek filinojn.
But Rehoboam loved Maacah, the daughter of Absalom, above all his wives and concubines. For he had taken eighteen wives and sixty concubines. And he conceived twenty-eight sons and sixty daughters.
22 Reĥabeam starigis Abijan, filon de Maaĥa, kiel ĉefon, kiel princon inter liaj fratoj, intencante fari lin reĝo.
Truly, he appointed as the head, Abijah, the son of Maacah, to be the ruler over all his brothers. For he thought to make him king,
23 Li agadis prudente; li dissendis ĉiujn siajn filojn en ĉiujn regionojn de Jehuda kaj de Benjamen, en ĉiujn fortikigitajn urbojn; li donis al ili grandajn vivrimedojn kaj prenis por ili multe da edzinoj.
since he was wiser and more powerful than all his sons, even in all the regions of Judah and Benjamin, and in all the fortified cities. And he provided them with very much food, and he sought many wives.
