1 La ordo de la Aaronidoj: la filoj de Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, kaj Itamar.
These are the groups of the descendants of Aaron [the first Supreme Priest]: Aaron’s four sons were Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
2 Nadab kaj Abihu mortis pli frue ol ilia patro, kaj filojn ili ne havis; kaj Eleazar kaj Itamar fariĝis pastroj.
But Nadab and Abihu died before their father died, and they had no children. So their [younger] brothers Eleazar and Ithamar became the priests.
3 La ordon aranĝis David, kaj Cadok el la idoj de Eleazar, kaj Aĥimeleĥ el la idoj de Itamar, laŭ iliaj oficoj ĉe ilia servado.
Zadok, who was a descendant of Eleazar, and Ahimelech, who was a descendant of Ithamar, helped David to separate his descendants into two groups. Each group had certain duties.
4 Montriĝis, ke inter la idoj de Eleazar estis pli granda nombro da viroj, ol inter la idoj de Itamar. Oni dividis ilin: por la idoj de Eleazar estis dek ses ĉefoj de patrodomoj, kaj por la idoj de Itamar ok patrodomoj.
There were more leaders among the descendants of Eleazar than there were among the descendants of Ithamar. So they appointed 16 leaders from Eleazar’s descendants and eight leaders from Ithamar’s descendants.
5 Oni dividis ilin per lotado, ambaŭ partojn paralele, ĉar la estroj de la sanktejo kaj la estroj en la aferoj de Dio estis el la idoj de Eleazar kaj el la idoj de Itamar.
There were temple officials and priests, including descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar, to make sure that the work was divided fairly. So they decided what work each person would do by (casting lots/throwing marked stones).
6 Kaj enskribis ilin Ŝemaja, filo de Netanel, skribisto el la Levidoj, antaŭ la reĝo kaj la estroj, antaŭ la pastro Cadok, antaŭ Aĥimeleĥ, filo de Ebjatar, kaj antaŭ la ĉefoj de patrodomoj de la pastroj kaj de la Levidoj; unu loto estis por patrodomo de Eleazaridoj, kaj unu loto estis por patrodomo de Itamaridoj.
Shemaiah, the son of Nethanel, who was a descendant of Levi, wrote down the names [of the leaders of each group] while David and his officials were watching. Zadok, the [Supreme] Priest, and Ahimelech [his assistant], and the leaders of the families of the priests and of the families of the other descendants of Levi also watched.
7 La unua loto eliris por Jehojarib, la dua por Jedaja,
Jehoiarib was the first one whose name was selected [by casting lots/throwing marked stones]. Next Jedaiah was selected.
8 la tria por Ĥarim, la kvara por Seorim,
Next, Harim was selected. Next, Seorim was selected.
9 la kvina por Malkija, la sesa por Mijamin,
Next, Malkijah was selected. Next, Mijamin was selected.
10 la sepa por Hakoc, la oka por Abija,
Next, Hakkoz was selected. Next, Abijah was selected.
11 la naŭa por Jeŝua, la deka por Ŝeĥanja,
Next, Jeshua was selected. Next, Shecaniah was selected.
12 la dek-unua por Eljaŝib, la dek-dua por Jakim,
Next, Eliashib was selected. Next, Jakim was selected.
13 la dek-tria por Ĥupa, la dek-kvara por Jeŝebab,
Next, Huppah was selected. Next, Jeshebeab was selected.
14 la dek-kvina por Bilga, la dek-sesa por Imer,
Next, Bilgah was selected. Next, Immer was selected.
15 la dek-sepa por Ĥezir, la dek-oka por Hapicec,
Next, Hezir was selected. Next, Happizzez was selected.
16 la dek-naŭa por Petaĥja, la dudeka por Jeĥezkel,
Next, Pethahiah was selected. Next, Jehezkel was selected.
17 la dudek-unua por Jaĥin, la dudek-dua por Gamul,
Next, Jakin was selected. Next, Gamul was selected.
18 la dudek-tria por Delaja, la dudek-kvara por Maazja.
Next, Delaiah was selected. Next, Maaziah was selected.
19 Tio estis ilia ordo ĉe ilia servado, por iri en la domon de la Eternulo laŭ la preskribo donita per ilia patro Aaron, kiel ordonis al li la Eternulo, Dio de Izrael.
Those were the men who were chosen to be the leaders of the groups that would serve in the temple, obeying the regulations that were set down by Aaron, regulations which Yahweh, the God to whom the Israeli people belonged, had given to him.
20 La ordo por la ceteraj idoj de Levi: el la idoj de Amram: Ŝubael; el la idoj de Ŝubael: Jeĥdeja;
[This is a list of some of] the other descendants of Levi: Amram was the ancestor of Shubael and Jehdeiah.
21 ĉe Reĥabja: el la idoj de Reĥabja la unua estis Jiŝija;
Rehabiah was the ancestor of Isshiah, the oldest son in his family.
22 ĉe la Jicharidoj: Ŝelomot; el la filoj de Ŝelomot: Jaĥat;
Izhar was the father of Shelomoth and the grandfather of Jahath.
23 la filoj de Ĥebron: Jerija, Amarja estis la dua, Jaĥaziel la tria, Jekameam la kvara;
[Kohath’s son] Hebron had four sons: Jeriah and his [younger] brothers Amariah, Jahaziel, and Jekameam.
24 el la filoj de Uziel: Miĥa; el la filoj de Miĥa: Ŝamir;
Uzziel was the father of Micah and the grandfather of Shamir.
25 la frato de Miĥa estis Jiŝija; el la filoj de Jiŝija: Zeĥarja;
Micah’s [younger] brother was the father of Zechariah.
26 el la filoj de Merari: Maĥli kaj Muŝi; el la filoj de Jaazija: Beno;
The sons of Merari were Mahli, Mushi, and Jaaziah.
27 el la idoj de Merari: ĉe Jaazija: Beno, Ŝoham, Zakur, kaj Ibri;
Jaaziah had four sons: Beno, Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
28 ĉe Maĥli: Eleazar; li ne havis filojn;
Mahli’s son Eleazar did not have any sons.
29 ĉe Kiŝ: el la filoj de Kiŝ: Jeraĥmeel;
From the descendants of [Mahli’s second son] there was Jerahmeel.
30 la filoj de Muŝi: Maĥli, Eder, kaj Jerimot. Tio estas la Levidoj laŭ iliaj patrodomoj.
The sons of Mushi were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. Those were descendants of Levi who were listed according to the leaders of their families.
31 Ili ankaŭ lotis samtempe kun siaj fratoj la Aaronidoj, antaŭ la reĝo David, Cadok, Aĥimeleĥ, kaj la ĉefoj de patrodomoj de la pastroj kaj de la Levidoj: ĉefo de patrodomo egale kun sia pli malgranda frato.
The jobs they would do were decided by (casting lots/throwing marked stones), like their fellow Israelis, the descendants of Aaron, did. They cast lots {The lots were cast} while King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the leaders of the families of the priests and the [other] descendants of Levi watched. They gave the same jobs to the families of each oldest brother and each youngest brother.
