Zephaniah 1
1 A word of Jehovah that hath been unto Zephaniah son of Cushi, son of Gedaliah, son of Amariah, son of Hezikiah, in the days of Josiah son of Amoz, king of Judah:
Cuvântul DOMNULUI, care a venit la Ţefania, fiul lui Cuşi, fiul lui Ghedalia, fiul lui Amaria, fiul lui Hizchia, în zilele lui Iosia, fiul lui Amon, împăratul lui Iuda.
2 I utterly consume all from off the face of the ground, An affirmation of Jehovah.
Voi mistui cu desăvârşire totul de pe faţa pământului, spune DOMNUL.
3 I consume man and beast, I consume fowl of the heavens, and fishes of the sea, And the stumbling-blocks — the wicked, And I have cut off man from the face of the ground, An affirmation of Jehovah,
Voi mistui pe om şi pe animal; voi mistui păsările cerului şi peştii mării şi pietrele de poticnire împreună cu cei stricaţi; şi voi stârpi omul de pe pământ, spune DOMNUL.
4 And stretched out My hand against Judah, And against all inhabiting Jerusalem, And cut off from this place the remnant of Baal, The name of the idolatrous priests, with the priests,
De asemenea îmi voi întinde mâna asupra lui Iuda şi asupra tuturor locuitorilor Ierusalimului; şi voi stârpi rămăşiţa lui Baal din acest loc şi numele chemarimilor împreună cu preoţii;
5 And those bowing themselves On the roofs to the host of the heavens, And those bowing themselves, Swearing to Jehovah, and swearing by Malcham,
Şi pe cei care se închină oştirii cerului pe acoperişuri; şi pe cei care se închină şi care jură pe DOMNUL şi care jură pe Malcam;
6 And those removing from after Jehovah, And who have not sought Jehovah, nor besought Him.
Şi pe cei care se întorc de la a-l urma pe DOMNUL şi pe cei care nu l-au căutat pe DOMNUL, nici nu au întrebat de el.
7 Hush! because of the Lord Jehovah, For near [is] a day of Jehovah, For prepared hath Jehovah a sacrifice, He hath sanctified His invited ones.
Taci în prezenţa Domnului DUMNEZEU, pentru că ziua DOMNULUI este aproape, pentru că DOMNUL a pregătit un sacrificiu, el şi-a chemat oaspeţii.
8 And it hath come to pass, In the day of the sacrifice of Jehovah, That I have laid a charge on the heads, And on sons of the king, And on all putting on strange clothing.
Şi se va întâmpla că în ziua sacrificiului DOMNULUI voi pedepsi prinţii şi copiii împăratului şi pe toţi care sunt îmbrăcaţi cu haine străine.
9 And I have laid a charge on every one Who is leaping over the threshold in that day, Who are filling the house of their masters [With] violence and deceit.
De asemenea, în aceeaşi zi voi pedepsi pe toţi cei care sar pragul, care umplu casele stăpânilor lor cu violenţă şi înşelăciune.
10 And there hath been in that day, An affirmation of Jehovah, The noise of a cry from the fish-gate, And of a howling from the Second, And of great destruction from the hills.
Şi se va întâmpla, în acea zi, spune DOMNUL, că va fi zgomotul unui strigăt de la poarta peştelui şi un urlet de la a doua şi un trosnet mare dinspre dealuri.
11 Howl, ye inhabitants of the hollow place, For cut off hath been all the merchant people, Cut off have been all bearing silver.
Urlaţi, voi locuitori din Macteş, pentru că tot poporul comercianţilor este doborât; toţi cei ce cară argint sunt stârpiţi.
12 And it hath come to pass, at that time, I search Jerusalem with lights, And I have laid a charge on the men Who are hardened on their preserved things, Who are saying in their heart: Jehovah doth no good, nor doth He evil.
Şi se va întâmpla, în acel timp, că voi cerceta Ierusalimul cu candele şi voi pedepsi oamenii care sunt aşezaţi pe drojdiile lor, care spun în inima lor: DOMNUL nu va face bine, nici nu va face rău.
13 And their wealth hath been for a spoil, And their houses for desolation, And they have built houses, and do not inhabit, And they have planted vineyards, And they do not drink their wine.
De aceea bunurile lor vor deveni o pradă, şi casele lor o pustietate; de asemenea vor zidi case, dar nu le vor locui; şi vor sădi vii, dar nu le vor bea vinul.
14 Near [is] the great day of Jehovah, Near, and hasting exceedingly, The noise of the day of Jehovah, Bitterly shriek there doth a mighty one.
Ziua cea mare a DOMNULUI este aproape, este aproape, şi se grăbeşte foarte mult, vocea zilei DOMNULUI; viteazul va striga acolo cu amar.
15 A day of wrath [is] that day, A day of adversity and distress, A day of waste and desolation, A day of darkness and gloominess, A day of cloud and thick darkness.
Ziua aceea este o zi a furiei, o zi de necaz şi strâmtorare, o zi de secătuire şi de pustiire, o zi de întuneric şi de întunecime, o zi cu nori şi de întuneric gros,
16 A day of trumpet and shouting against the fenced cities, And against the high corners.
O zi a trâmbiţei şi a alarmei împotriva cetăţilor întărite şi împotriva turnurilor înalte.
17 And I have sent distress to men, And they have walked as the blind, For against Jehovah they have sinned, And poured out is their blood as dust, And their flesh [is] as dung.
Şi voi aduce strâmtorare peste oameni pentru ca ei să umble ca orbii, pentru că au păcătuit împotriva DOMNULUI; şi sângele lor va fi vărsat ca ţărâna, şi carnea lor ca balega.
18 Even their silver, even their gold, Is not able to deliver them in a day of the wrath of Jehovah, And in the fire of His jealousy consumed is the whole land, For only a hastened end doth He make Of all the inhabitants of the land!
Nici argintul lor, nici aurul lor nu va fi în stare să îi scape în ziua furiei DOMNULUI; dar tot ţinutul va fi mistuit de focul geloziei lui, pentru că el va face chiar o descotorosire grabnică de toți cei care locuiesc în ţinut.
