Zechariah 1
1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
Au huitième mois de la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de l'Éternel fut adressée au prophète Zacharie, fils de Bérékia, fils d'Iddo, en ces termes:
2 'Jehovah was wroth against your fathers — wrath!
L'Éternel a été très mécontent de vos pères.
3 And thou hast said unto them, Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, turn back unto Me, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I turn back unto you, said Jehovah of Hosts.
C'est pourquoi tu leur diras: L'Éternel des armées dit: « Revenez à moi, dit l'Éternel des armées, et je reviendrai à vous », dit l'Éternel des armées.
4 Ye shall not be as your fathers, To whom the former prophets called, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Turn back I pray you, From your evil ways and from your evil doings, And they did not hearken, Nor attend to Me — an affirmation of Jehovah.
Ne soyez pas comme vos pères, à qui les anciens prophètes ont annoncé, en disant: L'Éternel des armées dit: « Revenez maintenant de vos mauvaises voies et de vos mauvaises actions »; mais ils n'ont pas écouté et ne m'ont pas écouté, dit l'Éternel.
5 Your fathers — where [are] they? And the prophets — to the age do they live?
Vos pères, où sont-ils? Et les prophètes, vivent-ils éternellement?
6 Only, My words, and My statutes, That I commanded My servants the prophets, Have they not overtaken your fathers, And they turn back and say: As Jehovah of Hosts designed to do to us, According to our ways, and according to our doings, So He hath done to us?'
Mais mes paroles et mes décrets, que j'ai prescrits à mes serviteurs les prophètes, n'ont-ils pas atteint vos pères? Ils se repentirent et dirent: « Ce que Yahvé des armées avait décidé de nous faire, selon nos voies et nos pratiques, il l'a fait avec nous ».
7 On the twenty and fourth day of the eleventh month, (it [is] the month of Sebat, ) in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been unto Zechariah, son of Berechiah, son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
Le vingt-quatrième jour du onzième mois, qui est le mois de Shebat, la deuxième année de Darius, la parole de Yahvé fut adressée au prophète Zacharie, fils de Béréchia, fils d'Iddo, en ces termes:
8 I have seen by night, and lo, one riding on a red horse, and he is standing between the myrtles that [are] in the shade, and behind him [are] horses, red, bay, and white.
« J'ai eu une vision pendant la nuit: voici un homme monté sur un cheval roux, qui se tenait parmi les myrtes qui étaient dans un ravin; et derrière lui, il y avait des chevaux roux, bruns et blancs.
9 And I say, 'What [are] these, my lord?' And the messenger who is speaking with me saith unto me, 'I — I do shew thee what these [are].'
Je demandai alors: « Mon seigneur, qu'est-ce que c'est? » L'ange qui m'a parlé m'a dit: « Je vais te montrer ce que c'est. »
10 And the one who is standing between the myrtles doth answer and say, 'These [are] they whom Jehovah hath sent to walk up and down in the land.'
L'homme qui se tenait parmi les myrtes répondit: « Ce sont ceux que Yahvé a envoyés pour aller et venir sur la terre. »
11 And they answer the messenger of Jehovah who is standing between the myrtles, and say, 'We have walked up and down in the land, and lo, all the land is sitting still, and at rest.'
Ils firent leur rapport à l'ange de Yahvé qui se tenait parmi les myrtes, et dirent: « Nous avons parcouru la terre de long en large, et voici que toute la terre est en repos et en paix. »
12 And the messenger of Jehovah answereth and saith, 'Jehovah of Hosts! till when dost Thou not pity Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, that Thou hast abhorred these seventy years?'
L'ange de Yahvé répondit: « Yahvé des armées, jusqu'à quand n'auras-tu pas pitié de Jérusalem et des villes de Juda, contre lesquelles tu t'es indigné pendant soixante-dix ans? »
13 And Jehovah answereth the messenger, who is speaking with me, good words, comfortable words.
Yahvé répondit à l'ange qui me parlait par des paroles aimables et réconfortantes.
14 And the messenger who is speaking with me, saith unto me, 'Call, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: I have been zealous for Jerusalem, and for Zion [with] great zeal.
L'ange qui m'a parlé m'a dit: « Proclame, en disant: « L'Éternel des armées dit: « Je suis jaloux de Jérusalem et de Sion, d'une grande jalousie.
15 And [with] great wrath I am wroth against the nations who are at ease, For I was a little wroth, and they assisted — for evil.
Je suis très irrité contre les nations qui sont à l'aise; car je n'étais qu'un peu mécontent, mais elles ont ajouté à la calamité. »
16 Therefore, thus said Jehovah: I have turned to Jerusalem with mercies, My house is built in it, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And a line is stretched over Jerusalem.
C'est pourquoi Yahvé dit: « Je suis revenu à Jérusalem avec miséricorde. Ma maison y sera bâtie, dit Yahvé des armées, et une ligne sera tendue sur Jérusalem. »"
17 Again call, saying: Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, Again do my cities overflow from good, And Jehovah hath again comforted Zion, And He hath fixed again on Jerusalem.'
« Proclamez encore, en disant: « Yahvé des armées dit: « Mes villes regorgeront de nouveau de prospérité, et Yahvé consolera de nouveau Sion, et choisira de nouveau Jérusalem »".
18 And I lift up mine eyes, and look, and lo, four horns.
Je levai les yeux et je vis, et voici, il y avait quatre cornes.
19 And I say unto the messenger who is speaking with me, 'What [are] these?' And he saith unto me, 'These [are] the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.'
Je demandai à l'ange qui parlait avec moi: « Qu'est-ce que c'est? » Il me répondit: « Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, Israël et Jérusalem. »
20 And Jehovah doth shew me four artisans.
Yahvé me montra quatre artisans.
21 And I say, 'What [are] these coming in to do?' And He speaketh, saying: 'These [are] the horns that have scattered Judah, so that no one hath lifted up his head, and these come in to trouble them, to cast down the horns of the nations who are lifting up a horn against the land of Judah — to scatter it.'
Et j'ai demandé: « Que viennent-ils faire? » Il dit: « Ce sont les cornes qui ont dispersé Juda, de sorte que personne n'a levé la tête; mais celles-ci sont venues pour les terrifier, pour abattre les cornes des nations qui ont levé leur corne contre le pays de Juda pour le disperser. »
