Zechariah 3

1 And he sheweth me Joshua the high priest standing before the messenger of Jehovah, and the Adversary standing at his right hand, to be an adversary to him.

سپس خداوند در رؤیا، یهوشع، کاهن اعظم را به من نشان داد که در حضور فرشتۀ خداوند ایستاده بود. شیطان نیز آنجا در سمت راست فرشته ایستاده بود و تهمت‌های زیادی به یهوشع می‌زد.

2 And Jehovah saith unto the Adversary: 'Jehovah doth push against thee, O Adversary, Yea, push against thee doth Jehovah, Who is fixing on Jerusalem, Is not this a brand delivered from fire?'

خداوند به شیطان گفت: «ای شیطان، خداوند تو را توبیخ کند. خداوند که اورشلیم را برای خود برگزیده است تو را توبیخ کند. یهوشع مانند چوب نیم سوخته‌ای است که از میان آتش بیرون کشیده شده باشد.»

3 And Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and is standing before the messenger.

یهوشع با لباس کثیف در حضور فرشتهٔ خداوند ایستاده بود.

4 And he answereth and speaketh unto those standing before him, saying: 'Turn aside the filthy garments from off him.' And he saith unto him, 'See, I have caused thine iniquity to pass away from off thee, so as to clothe thee with costly apparel.'

فرشته به کسانی که آنجا ایستاده بودند گفت: «لباس کثیف او را از تنش درآورید.» بعد رو به یهوشع کرده، گفت: «ببین، گناهان تو را برداشته‌ام و اینک این لباس نو را به تو می‌پوشانم.»

5 He also said, 'Let them set a pure diadem on his head. And they set the pure diadem on his head, and clothe him with garments. And the messenger of Jehovah is standing,

سپس گفت: «یک دستارِ تمیز هم بر سرش بگذارید.» در حالی که فرشتهٔ خداوند ایستاده بود به او یک دستارِ تمیز هم دادند. آنگاه فرشته خطاب به یهوشع گفت

6 and the messenger of Jehovah doth protest to Joshua, saying:

7 'Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: If in My ways thou dost walk, And if My charge thou dost keep, Then also thou dost judge My house, And also thou dost keep My courts, And I have given to thee conductors among these standing by.

که خداوند لشکرهای آسمان چنین می‌فرماید: «اگر از قوانین من اطاعت کنی و هر آنچه به تو می‌گویم انجام دهی، تو را سرپرست خانهٔ خود می‌سازم و به تو اجازه می‌دهم مثل این فرشته‌ها به حضور من بیایی.

8 Hear, I pray thee, Joshua, the high priest, Thou and thy companions sitting before thee, (For men of type [are] they, ) For lo, I am bringing in My servant — a Shoot.

ای یهوشع کاهن اعظم و ای همهٔ کاهنان، به من گوش دهید! شما نشانه‌ای هستید از آنچه در آینده واقع خواهد شد: من خدمتگزار خود را که”شاخه“نامیده می‌شود خواهم آورد.

9 For lo, the stone that I put before Joshua, On one stone [are] seven eyes, Lo, I am graving its graving, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, And I have removed the iniquity of that land in one day.

حال به سنگی که در مقابل یِهوشَع قرار داده‌ام نگاه کن؛ سنگی با هفت سطح. خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: من نقشی بر آن حَک خواهم کرد، و گناه این سرزمین را در یک روز رفع خواهم نمود.

10 In that day — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, Ye do call, each unto his neighbour, Unto the place of the vine, And unto the place of the fig-tree!'

«آری، خداوند لشکرهای آسمان می‌فرماید: هنگامی که آن روز فرا رسد هر یک از شما همسایهٔ خود را دعوت خواهد کرد تا بیاید و در زیر درختان انگور و انجیرتان در صلح و صفا بنشیند.»
