< Psalms 58 >
1 To the Overseer. — 'Destroy not.' — A secret treasure, by David. Is it true, O dumb one, righteously ye speak? Uprightly ye judge, O sons of men?
KE olelo nei auei oukou i ka pono, e ke anaina? Ke hooponopono pololei anei oukou, e na keiki a kanaka?
2 Even in heart ye work iniquities, In the land the violence of your hands ye ponder.
Ua hana io nae oukou i ka hewa maloko o ko oukou naau: Ke kaupaona nei hoi oukou i ka lawe wale ana o ko oukou mau lima ma ka honua.
3 The wicked have been estranged from the womb, They have erred from the belly, speaking lies.
Ua aea wale ka poe hewa mai ka opu mai; Ua auwana lakou mai ka hanau ana, e olelo wahahee ana.
4 Their poison [is] as poison of a serpent, As a deaf asp shutting its ear,
O ko lakou aa make, ua like ia me ka awaawa make o ka nahesa; Ua like lakou me ka moopetena kuli i papani i kona pepeiao;
5 Which hearkeneth not to the voice of whisperers, A charmer of charms most skilful.
Ka mea e lohe ole no i ka leo o ka poe hoowalewale, E hoowale wale ana me ke akamai loa.
6 O God, break their teeth in their mouth, The jaw-teeth of young lions break down, O Jehovah.
E uhai ae i ko lakou mau niho, e ke Akua, iloko o ko lakou waha; E uhai oe i na niho o na liona opiopio, e Iehova.
7 They are melted as waters, They go up and down for themselves, His arrow proceedeth as they cut themselves off.
E hehee lakou, me he mau wai la e kahe mau ana, Aia lena oia no kana mau pua, E lilo lakou me he mau mea la i okiokiia.
8 As a snail that melteth he goeth on, [As] an untimely birth of a woman, They have not seen the sun.
Me he pupu la e hehee ana, e hele e aku lakou a pau; Me he mea hanau e la ka wahine, e ike ole lakou i ka la.
9 Before your pots discern the bramble, As well the raw as the heated He whirleth away.
Mamua o ka wela ana o ka oukou mau ipuhao i ke kakalaioa, E lawe aku oia ia lakou me ka ino makani, I ko lakou ola ana, a i kona huhu.
10 The righteous rejoiceth that he hath seen vengeance, His steps he washeth in the blood of the wicked.
E hauoli ka mea pono i kona ike ana i ka hoopai ana; E holoi oia i kona mau kapuwai i ke koko o ka mea hewa.
11 And man saith: 'Surely fruit [is] for the righteous: Surely there is a God judging in the earth!'
Pela, e olelo ke kanaka, Oiaio, he uku no hoi no ka mea pono: Oiaio hoi, he Akua no e hoopai ana ma ka honua.
