Psalms 54

1 To the Overseer with stringed instruments. — An instruction, by David, in the coming in of the Ziphim, and they say to Saul, 'Is not David hiding himself with us?' O God, by Thy name save me, and by Thy might judge me.

Per il Capo de’ musici. Per strumenti a corda. Cantico di Davide quando gli Zifei vennero a dire a Saul: Davide non si tiene egli nascosto fra noi? O Dio, salvami per il tuo nome, e fammi giustizia per la tua potenza.

2 O God, hear my prayer, Give ear to the sayings of my mouth,

O Dio, ascolta la mia preghiera, porgi orecchio alle parole della mia bocca!

3 For strangers have risen up against me And terrible ones have sought my soul, They have not set God before them. (Selah)

Poiché degli stranieri si son levati contro a me e de’ violenti cercano l’anima mia. Essi non tengono Iddio presente innanzi a loro. (Sela)

4 Lo, God [is] a helper to me, The Lord [is] with those supporting my soul,

Ecco, Iddio e colui che m’aiuta; il Signore è fra quelli che sostengon l’anima mia.

5 Turn back doth the evil thing to mine enemies, In Thy truth cut them off.

Egli farà ricadere il male sopra i miei nemici. Nella tua fedeltà, distruggili!

6 With a free will-offering I sacrifice to Thee, I thank Thy name, O Jehovah, for [it is] good,

Con animo volonteroso io t’offrirò sacrifizi; celebrerò il tuo nome, o Eterno, perch’esso è buono;

7 For, from all adversity He delivered me, And on mine enemies hath mine eye looked!

perché m’ha liberato da ogni distretta, e l’occhio mio ha visto sui miei nemici quel che desideravo.
