Psalms 52
1 To the Overseer. — An instruction, by David, in the coming in of Doeg the Edomite, and he declareth to Saul, and saith to him, 'David came in unto the house of Ahimelech.' What, boasteth thou in evil, O mighty one? The kindness of God [is] all the day.
Jusqu'à la Fin; instruction de David, Quand Doeg l'Iduméen alla porter un message à Saül, et lui dit: David est entré dans la maison d'Abimélech, Qu'as-tu à t'enorgueillir dans ta malice, homme puissant en iniquité?
2 Mischiefs doth thy tongue devise, Like a sharp razor, working deceit.
Ta langue tous les jours a tramé l'injustice; tu t'es servi de la fraude comme d'un rasoir tranchant.
3 Thou hast loved evil rather than good, Lying, than speaking righteousness. (Selah)
Tu as préféré la malice à la bonté; tu as dit: L'iniquité plutôt que la justice.
4 Thou hast loved all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
Tu as préféré les paroles de ruine, à langue trompeuse!
5 Also — God doth break thee down for ever, Taketh thee, and pulleth thee out of the tent, And He hath uprooted thee Out of the land of the living. (Selah)
A cause de cela, Dieu à la fin te détruira; il t'arrachera et te chassera de ta demeure, et extirpera ta racine de la terre des vivants.
6 And the righteous see, And fear, and laugh at him.
Et les justes le verront, et ils en seront effrayés et ils riront de toi, et diront:
7 'Lo, the man who maketh not God his strong place, And trusteth in the abundance of his riches, He is strong in his mischiefs.'
Voilà un homme qui n'avait point pris Dieu pour champion, mais qui avait mis son espoir en l'abondance de ses richesses, et qui s'était cru fort en sa vanité.
8 And I, as a green olive in the house of God, I have trusted in the kindness of God, To the age and for ever,
Pour moi, comme un olivier fertile en la maison de Dieu, j'ai espéré en la miséricorde de Dieu, à jamais et dans tous les siècles des siècles.
9 I thank Thee to the age, because Thou hast done [it], And I wait [on] Thy name for [it is] good before Thy saints!
Je te rendrai grâces éternellement, à cause de tes œuvres, et j'attendrai ton nom, parce qu'il est bon pour tes saints.
