Psalms 49
1 To the Overseer. — By sons of Korah. A Psalm. Hear this, all ye peoples, Give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world.
Ouvi isto, vós todos os povos; inclinae os ouvidos, todos os moradores do mundo,
2 Both low and high, together rich and needy.
Tanto baixos como altos, tanto ricos como pobres.
3 My mouth speaketh wise things, And the meditations of my heart [are] things of understanding.
A minha bocca fallará de sabedoria; e a meditação do meu coração será de entendimento.
4 I incline to a simile mine ear, I open with a harp my riddle:
Inclinarei os meus ouvidos a uma parabola: declararei o meu enigma na harpa.
5 Why do I fear in days of evil? The iniquity of my supplanters doth compass me.
Porque temerei eu nos dias maus, quando me cercar a iniquidade dos que me armam ciladas?
6 Those trusting on their wealth, And in the multitude of their riches, Do shew themselves foolish.
Aquelles que confiam na sua fazenda, e se gloriam na multidão das suas riquezas,
7 A brother doth no one at all ransom, He doth not give to God his atonement.
Nenhum d'elles de modo algum pode remir a seu irmão, ou dar a Deus o resgate d'elle
8 And precious [is] the redemption of their soul, And it hath ceased — to the age.
(Pois a redempção da sua alma é carissima, e cessará para sempre);
9 And still he liveth for ever, He seeth not the pit.
Para que viva para sempre, e não veja corrupção:
10 For he seeth wise men die, Together the foolish and brutish perish, And have left to others their wealth.
Porque elle vê que os sabios morrem: perecem egualmente tanto o louco como o brutal, e deixam a outros os seus bens.
11 Their heart [is]: Their houses [are] to the age, Their tabernacles to all generations. They proclaimed their names over the lands.
O seu pensamento interior é que as suas casas serão perpetuas e as suas habitações de geração em geração: dão ás suas terras os seus proprios nomes.
12 And man in honour doth not remain, He hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off.
Todavia o homem que está na honra não permanece; antes é como os brutos que perecem.
13 This their way [is] folly for them, And their posterity with their sayings are pleased. (Selah)
Este caminho d'elles é a sua loucura; comtudo a sua posteridade approva as suas palavras (Selah)
14 As sheep for Sheol they have set themselves, Death doth afflict them, And the upright rule over them in the morning, And their form [is] for consumption. Sheol [is] a dwelling for him. (Sheol h7585)
Como ovelhas são postos na sepultura; a morte se alimentará d'elles; e os rectos terão dominio sobre elles na manhã, e a sua formosura na sepultura se consumirá da sua morada. (Sheol h7585)
15 Only, God doth ransom my soul from the hand of Sheol, For He doth receive me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Mas Deus remirá a minha alma do poder da sepultura, pois me receberá (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Fear not, when one maketh wealth, When the honour of his house is abundant,
Não temas, quando alguem se enriquece, quando a gloria da sua casa se engrandece.
17 For at his death he receiveth nothing, His honour goeth not down after him.
Porque, quando morrer, nada levará comsigo, nem a sua gloria o acompanhará.
18 For his soul in his life he blesseth, (And they praise thee when thou dost well for thyself.)
Ainda que na sua vida elle bemdisse a sua alma, e os homens te louvam, quando fizeres bem a ti mesmo,
19 It cometh to the generation of his fathers, For ever they see not the light.
Irá para a geração de seus paes; elles nunca verão a luz
20 Man in honour, who understandest not, Hath been like the beasts, they have been cut off!
O homem que está na honra, e não tem entendimento, é similhante ás bestas que perecem.
