< Psalms 36 >
1 To the Overseer. — By a servant of Jehovah, by David. The transgression of the wicked Is affirming within my heart, 'Fear of God is not before his eyes,
For the end, by David the servant of the Lord. The transgressor, that he may sin, says within himself, [that] there is no fear of God before his eyes.
2 For he made [it] smooth to himself in his eyes, To find his iniquity to be hated.
For he has dealt craftily before him, to discover his iniquity and hate it.
3 The words of his mouth [are] iniquity and deceit, He ceased to act prudently — to do good.
The words of his mouth are transgression and deceit: he is not inclined to understand [how] to do good.
4 Iniquity he deviseth on his bed, He stationeth himself on a way not good, Evil he doth not refuse.'
He devises iniquity on his bed; he gives himself to every evil way; and does not abhor evil.
5 O Jehovah, in the heavens [is] Thy kindness, Thy faithfulness [is] unto the clouds.
O Lord, your mercy is in the heaven; and your truth [reaches] to the clouds.
6 Thy righteousness [is] as mountains of God, Thy judgments [are] a great deep. Man and beast Thou savest, O Jehovah.
Your righteousness is as the mountains of God, your judgements are as a great deep: O Lord, you will preserve men and beasts.
7 How precious [is] Thy kindness, O God, And the sons of men In the shadow of Thy wings do trust.
How have you multiplied your mercy, O God! so the children of men shall trust in the shelter of your wings.
8 They are filled from the fatness of Thy house, And the stream of Thy delights Thou dost cause them to drink.
They shall be fully satisfied with the fatness of your house; and you shall cause them to drink of the full stream of your delights.
9 For with Thee [is] a fountain of life, In Thy light we see light.
For with you is the fountain of life: in your light we shall see light.
10 Draw out Thy kindness to those knowing Thee, And Thy righteousness to the upright of heart.
Extend your mercy to them that know you; and your righteousness to the upright in heart.
11 Let not a foot of pride meet me, And a hand of the wicked let not move me.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of sinners move me.
12 There have workers of iniquity fallen, They have been overthrown, And have not been able to arise!
There have all the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast out, and shall not be able to stand.
