Psalms 27

1 By David. Jehovah [is] my light and my salvation, Whom do I fear? Jehovah [is] the strength of my life, Of whom am I afraid?

Di Davide. L’Eterno è la mia luce e la mia salvezza; di chi temerò? L’Eterno è il baluardo della mia vita; di chi avrò paura?

2 When evil doers come near to me to eat my flesh, My adversaries and mine enemies to me, They have stumbled and fallen.

Quando i malvagi che mi sono avversari e nemici, m’hanno assalito per divorar la mia carne, eglino stessi han vacillato e sono caduti.

3 Though a host doth encamp against me, My heart doth not fear, Though war riseth up against me, In this I [am] confident.

Quand’anche un esercito si accampasse contro a me, il mio cuore non avrebbe paura; quand’anche la guerra si levasse contro a me, anche allora sarei fiducioso.

4 One [thing] I asked of Jehovah — it I seek. My dwelling in the house of Jehovah, All the days of my life, To look on the pleasantness of Jehovah, And to inquire in His temple.

Una cosa ho chiesto all’Eterno, e quella ricerco: ch’io dimori nella casa dell’Eterno tutti i giorni della mia vita, per mirare la bellezza dell’Eterno e meditare nel suo tempio.

5 For He hideth me in a tabernacle in the day of evil, He hideth me in a secret place of His tent, On a rock he raiseth me up.

Poich’egli mi nasconderà nella sua tenda nel giorno dell’avversità, m’occulterà nel luogo più segreto del suo padiglione, mi leverà in alto sopra una roccia.

6 And now, lifted up is my head, Above my enemies — my surrounders, And I sacrifice in His tent sacrifices of shouting, I sing, yea, I sing praise to Jehovah.

Già fin d’ora il mio capo s’eleva sui miei nemici che m’attorniano. Io offrirò nel suo padiglione sacrifici con giubilo; io canterò e salmeggerò all’Eterno.

7 Hear, O Jehovah, my voice — I call, And favour me, and answer me.

O Eterno, ascolta la mia voce, io t’invoco; abbi pietà di me, e rispondimi.

8 To Thee said my heart 'They sought my face, Thy face, O Jehovah, I seek.'

Il mio cuore mi dice da parte tua: Cercate la mia faccia! Io cerco la tua faccia, o Eterno.

9 Hide not Thy face from me, Turn not aside in anger Thy servant, My help Thou hast been. Leave me not, nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Non mi nascondere il tuo volto, non rigettar con ira il tuo servitore; tu sei stato il mio aiuto; non mi lasciare, non m’abbandonare, o Dio della mia salvezza!

10 When my father and my mother Have forsaken me, then doth Jehovah gather me.

Quando mio padre e mia madre m’avessero abbandonato, pure l’Eterno mi accoglierà.

11 Shew me, O Jehovah, Thy way, And lead me in a path of uprightness, For the sake of my beholders.

O Eterno, insegnami la tua via, e guidami per un sentiero diritto, a cagione de’ miei nemici.

12 Give me not to the will of my adversaries, For risen against me have false witnesses, And they breathe out violence to me.

Non darmi in balìa de’ miei nemici; perché son sorti contro di me falsi testimoni, gente che respira violenza.

13 I had not believed to look on the goodness of Jehovah In the land of the living!

Ah! se non avessi avuto fede di veder la bontà dell’Eterno sulla terra de’ viventi!…

14 Look unto Jehovah — be strong, And He doth strengthen thy heart, Yea, look unto Jehovah!

Spera nell’Eterno! Sii forte, il tuo cuore si rinfranchi, sì, spera nell’Eterno!
