Psalms 140
1 To the Overseer. — A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O Jehovah, from an evil man, From one of violence Thou keepest me.
Para el director del coro. Un salmo de David. Por favor, Señor ¡Sálvame de aquellos que hacen el mal; ¡Protégeme, especialmente de aquellos que son violentos!
2 Who have devised evils in the heart, All the day they assemble [for] wars.
Sus mentes están ocupadas planeando el mal, y todo el día fomentan la guerra.
3 They sharpened their tongue as a serpent, Poison of an adder [is] under their lips. (Selah)
Sus lenguas son tan filosas como la de una serpiente; el veneno de víbora se mueve en sus labios. (Selah)
4 Preserve me, Jehovah, from the hands of the wicked, From one of violence Thou keepest me, Who have devised to overthrow my steps.
Señor, no me dejes caer en manos de los impíos; protégeme, especialmente de aquellos que son violentos, que están planeando mi caída.
5 The proud hid a snare for me — and cords, They spread a net by the side of the path, Snares they have set for me. (Selah)
Los orgullosos han escondido trampas para mí, han colocado una red en el camino, han puesto trampas para atraparme. (Selah)
6 I have said to Jehovah, 'My God [art] Thou, Hear, Jehovah, the voice of my supplications.'
Le digo al Señor, “¡Tú eres mi Dios! Señor, ¡Escucha mi clamor!”
7 O Jehovah, my Lord, strength of my salvation, Thou hast covered my head in the day of armour.
Señor y Dios, mi Salvador, tú cubres mi cabeza como con un casco en el día de la batalla.
8 Grant not, O Jehovah, the desires of the wicked, His wicked device bring not forth, They are high. (Selah)
Dios, no permitas que el malo consiga lo que quiere, no permitas que triunfen en sus planes para que no se vuelvan orgullosos. (Selah)
9 The chief of my surrounders, The perverseness of their lips covereth them.
Que el daño que me quieren hacer los que me rodean caiga sobre ellos,
10 They cause to fall on themselves burning coals, Into fire He doth cast them, Into deep pits — they arise not.
¡Que lluevan sobre ellos carbones encendidos! Que sean arrojados al fuego, o a pozos sin fondo, para que nunca más se levanten.
11 A talkative man is not established in the earth, One of violence — evil hunteth to overflowing.
No permitas que la gente que calumnia a otros hereden la tierra prometida. Que los desastres derriben a la gente violenta.
12 I have known that Jehovah doth execute The judgment of the afflicted, The judgment of the needy.
Sin embargo, el Señor defiende los derechos de aquellos que están siendo perseguidos, y da justicia al pobre.
13 Only — the righteous give thanks to Thy name, The upright do dwell with Thy presence!
Ciertamente los que viven en rectitud alabarán la clase de persona que eres, así como los que son honestos.
