Psalms 138

1 By David. I confess Thee, with all my heart, Before the gods I do praise Thee.

De David. Je te célébrerai de tout mon cœur; je chanterai tes louanges devant les dieux.

2 I bow myself toward Thy holy temple, And I confess Thy name, For Thy kindness, and for Thy truth, For Thou hast made great Thy saying above all Thy name.

Je me prosternerai vers le temple de ta sainteté, et je célébrerai ton nom à cause de ta bonté et à cause de ta vérité; car tu as exalté ta parole au-dessus de tout ton nom.

3 In the day I called, when Thou dost answer me, Thou dost strengthen me in my soul [with] strength.

Au jour où j’ai crié, tu m’as répondu; tu as augmenté la force de mon âme.

4 O Jehovah, all kings of earth confess Thee, When they have heard the sayings of Thy mouth.

Tous les rois de la terre te célébreront, ô Éternel! quand ils auront entendu les paroles de ta bouche;

5 And they sing in the ways of Jehovah, For great [is] the honour of Jehovah.

Et ils chanteront dans les voies de l’Éternel, car grande est la gloire de l’Éternel.

6 For high [is] Jehovah, and the lowly He seeth, And the haughty from afar He knoweth.

Car l’Éternel est haut élevé; mais il voit ceux qui sont en bas état, et il connaît de loin les hautains.

7 If I walk in the midst of distress Thou quickenest me, Against the anger of mine enemies Thou sendest forth Thy hand, And Thy right hand doth save me.

Si je marche au milieu de la détresse, tu me feras vivre, tu étendras ta main contre la colère de mes ennemis, et ta droite me sauvera.

8 Jehovah doth perfect for me, O Jehovah, Thy kindness [is] to the age, The works of Thy hands let not fall!

L’Éternel achèvera ce qui me concerne. Éternel! ta bonté demeure à toujours. N’abandonne pas les œuvres de tes mains.
