Psalms 115
1 Not to us, O Jehovah, not to us, But to Thy name give honour, For Thy kindness, for Thy truth.
Non a noi, Signore, non a noi, ma al tuo nome dà gloria, per la tua fedeltà, per la tua grazia.
2 Why do the nations say, 'Where, pray, [is] their God.
Perché i popoli dovrebbero dire: «Dov'è il loro Dio?».
3 And our God [is] in the heavens, All that He hath pleased He hath done.
Il nostro Dio è nei cieli, egli opera tutto ciò che vuole.
4 Their idols [are] silver and gold, work of man's hands,
Gli idoli delle genti sono argento e oro, opera delle mani dell'uomo.
5 A mouth they have, and they speak not, Eyes they have, and they see not,
Hanno bocca e non parlano, hanno occhi e non vedono,
6 Ears they have, and they hear not, A nose they have, and they smell not,
hanno orecchi e non odono, hanno narici e non odorano.
7 Their hands, but they handle not, Their feet, and they walk not;
Hanno mani e non palpano, hanno piedi e non camminano; dalla gola non emettono suoni.
8 Nor do they mutter through their throat, Like them are their makers, Every one who is trusting in them.
Sia come loro chi li fabbrica e chiunque in essi confida.
9 O Israel, trust in Jehovah, 'Their help and their shield [is] He.'
Israele confida nel Signore: egli è loro aiuto e loro scudo.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in Jehovah, 'Their help and their shield [is] He.'
Confida nel Signore la casa di Aronne: egli è loro aiuto e loro scudo.
11 Ye fearing Jehovah, trust in Jehovah, 'Their help and their shield [is] He.'
Confida nel Signore, chiunque lo teme: egli è loro aiuto e loro scudo.
12 Jehovah hath remembered us, He blesseth, He blesseth the house of Israel, He blesseth the house of Aaron,
Il Signore si ricorda di noi, ci benedice: benedice la casa d'Israele, benedice la casa di Aronne.
13 He blesseth those fearing Jehovah, The small with the great.
Il Signore benedice quelli che lo temono, benedice i piccoli e i grandi.
14 Jehovah addeth to you, to you, and to your sons.
Vi renda fecondi il Signore, voi e i vostri figli.
15 Blessed [are] ye of Jehovah, maker of heaven and earth,
Siate benedetti dal Signore che ha fatto cielo e terra.
16 The heavens — the heavens [are] Jehovah's, And the earth He hath given to sons of men,
I cieli sono i cieli del Signore, ma ha dato la terra ai figli dell'uomo.
17 The dead praise not Jah, Nor any going down to silence.
Non i morti lodano il Signore, né quanti scendono nella tomba.
18 And we, we bless Jah, From henceforth, and unto the age. Praise ye Jah!
Ma noi, i viventi, benediciamo il Signore ora e sempre.
