Proverbs 8
1 Doth not wisdom call? And understanding give forth her voice?
Ne propovijeda li mudrost i ne diže li razboritost svoj glas?
2 At the head of high places by the way, Between the paths she hath stood,
Navrh brda, uza cestu, na raskršćima stoji,
3 At the side of the gates, at the mouth of the city, The entrance of the openings, she crieth aloud,
kod izlaza iz grada, kraj ulaznih vrata, ona glasno viče:
4 'Unto you, O men, I call, And my voice [is] unto the sons of men.
“Vama, o ljudi, propovijedam i upravljam svoj glas sinovima ljudskim.
5 Understand, ye simple ones, prudence, And ye fools, understand the heart,
Shvatite mudrost, vi neiskusni, a vi nerazumni, urazumite srce.
6 Hearken, for noble things I speak, And the opening of my lips [is] uprightness.
Slušajte, jer ću zboriti o važnim stvarima, i moje će usne otkriti što je pravo.
7 For truth doth my mouth utter, And an abomination to my lips [is] wickedness.
Jer moje nepce zbori istinu i zloća je mojim usnama mrska.
8 In righteousness [are] all the sayings of my mouth, Nothing in them is froward and perverse.
Sve su riječi mojih usta pravične, u njima nema ništa ni krivo ni prijetvorno.
9 All of them [are] plain to the intelligent, And upright to those finding knowledge.
Sve su one jasne razboritomu i pravedne onomu tko je stekao spoznaju.
10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold.
Primajte radije moju pouku no srebro i znanje požudnije od zlata.
11 For better [is] wisdom than rubies, Yea, all delights are not comparable with it.
Jer mudrost je vrednija od biserja i nikakve se dragocjenosti ne mogu porediti s njom.
12 I, wisdom, have dwelt with prudence, And a knowledge of devices I find out.
Ja, mudrost, boravim s razboritošću i posjedujem znanje umna djelovanja.
13 The fear of Jehovah [is] to hate evil; Pride, and arrogance, and an evil way, And a froward mouth, I have hated.
Strah Gospodnji mržnja je na zlo. Oholost, samodostatnost, put zloće i usta puna laži - to ja mrzim.
14 Mine [is] counsel and substance, I [am] understanding, I have might.
Moji su savjet i razboritost, ja sam razbor i moja je jakost.
15 By me kings reign, and princes decree righteousness,
Po meni kraljevi kraljuju i velikaši dijele pravdu.
16 By me do chiefs rule, and nobles, All judges of the earth.
Po meni knezuju knezovi i odličnici i svi suci zemaljski.
17 I love those loving me, And those seeking me earnestly do find me.
Ja ljubim one koji ljube mene i nalaze me koji me traže.
18 Wealth and honour [are] with me, Lasting substance and righteousness.
U mene je bogatstvo i slava, postojano dobro i pravednost.
19 Better [is] my fruit than gold, even fine gold, And mine increase than choice silver.
Moj je plod bolji od čista i žežena zlata i moj je prihod bolji od čistoga srebra.
20 In a path of righteousness I cause to walk, In midst of paths of judgment,
Ja kročim putem pravde, sred pravičnih staza,
21 To cause my lovers to inherit substance, Yea, their treasures I fill.
da dadem dobra onima koji me ljube i napunim njihove riznice.
22 Jehovah possessed me — the beginning of His way, Before His works since then.
Jahve me stvori kao počelo svoga djela, kao najraniji od svojih čina, u pradoba;
23 From the age I was anointed, from the first, From former states of the earth.
oblikovana sam još od vječnosti, odiskona, prije nastanka zemlje.
24 In there being no depths, I was brought forth, In there being no fountains heavy [with] waters,
Rodih se kad još nije bilo pradubina, dok nije bilo izvora obilnih voda.
25 Before mountains were sunk, Before heights, I was brought forth.
Rodih se prije nego su utemeljene gore, prije brežuljaka.
26 While He had not made the earth, and out-places, And the top of the dusts of the world.
Kad još ne bijaše načinio zemlje, ni poljana, ni početka zemaljskom prahu;
27 In His preparing the heavens I [am] there, In His decreeing a circle on the face of the deep,
kad je stvarao nebesa, bila sam nazočna, kad je povlačio krug na licu bezdana.
28 In His strengthening clouds above, In His making strong fountains of the deep,
Kad je u visini utvrđivao oblake i kad je odredio snagu izvoru pradubina;
29 In His setting for the sea its limit, And the waters transgress not His command, In His decreeing the foundations of earth,
kad je postavljao moru njegove granice da mu se vode ne preliju preko obala, kad je polagao temelje zemlji,
30 Then I am near Him, a workman, And I am a delight — day by day. Rejoicing before Him at all times,
bila sam kraj njega, kao graditeljica, bila u radosti, iz dana u dan, igrajući pred njim sve vrijeme:
31 Rejoicing in the habitable part of His earth, And my delights [are] with the sons of men.
igrala sam po tlu njegove zemlje, i moja su radost djeca čovjekova.
32 And now, ye sons, hearken to me, Yea, happy are they who keep my ways.
Tako, djeco, poslušajte me, blago onima koji čuvaju moje putove.
33 Hear instruction, and be wise, and slight not.
Poslušajte pouku - da stečete mudrost i nemojte je odbaciti.
34 O the happiness of the man hearkening to me, To watch at my doors day by day, To watch at the door-posts of my entrance.
Blago čovjeku koji me sluša i bdi na mojim vratima svaki dan i koji čuva dovratnike moje.
35 For whoso is finding me, hath found life, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.
Jer tko nalazi mene, nalazi život i stječe milost od Jahve.
36 And whoso is missing me, is wronging his soul, All hating me have loved death!
A ako se ogriješi o mene, udi svojoj duši: svi koji mene mrze ljube smrt.”
