Proverbs 15
1 A soft answer turneth back fury, And a grievous word raiseth up anger.
नर्म जवाब क़हर को दूर कर देता है, लेकिन कड़वी बातें ग़ज़ब अंगेज़ हैं।
2 The tongue of the wise maketh knowledge good, And the mouth of fools uttereth folly.
'अक़्लमंदों की ज़बान 'इल्म का दुरुस्त बयान करती है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ का मुँह हिमाक़त उगलता है।
3 In every place are the eyes of Jehovah, Watching the evil and the good.
ख़ुदावन्द की आँखें हर जगह हैं और नेकों और बदों की निगरान हैं।
4 A healed tongue [is] a tree of life, And perverseness in it — a breach in the spirit.
सिहत बख़्श ज़बान ज़िन्दगी का दरख़्त है, लेकिन उसकी कजगोई रूह की शिकस्तगी का ज़रिया है।
5 A fool despiseth the instruction of his father, And whoso is regarding reproof is prudent.
बेवक़ूफ़ अपने बाप की तरबियत को हक़ीर जानता है, लेकिन तम्बीह का लिहाज़ रखने वाला होशियार हो जाता है।
6 [In] the house of the righteous [is] abundant strength, And in the increase of the wicked — trouble.
सादिक़ के घर में बड़ा ख़ज़ाना है, लेकिन शरीर की आमदनी में परेशानी है।
7 The lips of the wise scatter knowledge, And the heart of fools [is] not right.
'अक़्लमंदों के लब 'इल्म फैलाते हैं, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ों के दिल ऐसे नहीं।
8 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] an abomination to Jehovah, And the prayer of the upright [is] His delight.
शरीरों के ज़बीहे से ख़ुदावन्द को नफ़रत है, लेकिन रास्तकार की दुआ उसकी ख़ुशनूदी है।
9 An abomination to Jehovah [is] the way of the wicked, And whoso is pursuing righteousness He loveth.
शरीरों का चाल चलन से ख़ुदावन्द को नफ़रत है, लेकिन वह सदाकत के पैरौ से मुहब्बत रखता है।
10 Chastisement [is] grievous to him who is forsaking the path, Whoso is hating reproof dieth.
राह से भटकने वाले के लिए सख़्त तादीब है, और तम्बीह से नफ़रत करने वाला मरेगा।
11 Sheol and destruction [are] before Jehovah, Surely also the hearts of the sons of men. (Sheol h7585)
जब पाताल और जहन्नुम ख़ुदावन्द के सामने खुले हैं, तो बनी आदम के दिल का क्या ज़िक्र? (Sheol h7585)
12 A scorner loveth not his reprover, Unto the wise he goeth not.
ठठ्ठाबाज़ तम्बीह को दोस्त नहीं रखता, और 'अक़्लमंदों की मजलिस में हरगिज़ नहीं जाता।
13 A joyful heart maketh glad the face, And by grief of heart is the spirit smitten.
ख़ुश दिली चेहरे की रौनक पैदा करती है, लेकिन दिल की ग़मगीनी से इंसान शिकस्ता ख़ातिर होता है।
14 The heart of the intelligent seeketh knowledge, And the mouth of fools enjoyeth folly.
समझदार का दिल 'इल्म का तालिब है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ों की ख़ुराक बेवक़ूफ़ी है।
15 All the days of the afflicted [are] evil, And gladness of heart [is] a perpetual banquet.
मुसीबत ज़दा के तमाम दिन बुरे हैं, लेकिन ख़ुश दिल हमेशा जश्न करता है।
16 Better [is] a little with the fear of Jehovah, Than much treasure, and tumult with it.
थोड़ा जो ख़ुदावन्द के ख़ौफ़ के साथ हो, उस बड़े ख़ज़ाने से जो परेशानी के साथ हो, बेहतर है।
17 Better [is] an allowance of green herbs and love there, Than a fatted ox, and hatred with it.
मुहब्बत वाले घर में ज़रा सा सागपात, 'अदावत वाले घर में पले हुए बैल से बेहतर है।
18 A man of fury stirreth up contention, And the slow to anger appeaseth strife.
ग़ज़बनाक आदमी फ़ितना खड़ा करता है, लेकिन जो क़हर में धीमा है झगड़ा मिटाता है।
19 The way of the slothful [is] as a hedge of briers, And the path of the upright is raised up.
काहिल की राह काँटो की आड़ सी है, लेकिन रास्तकारों का चाल चलन शाहराह की तरह है।
20 A wise son rejoiceth a father. And a foolish man is despising his mother.
'अक़्लमंद बेटा बाप को ख़ुश रखता है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ अपनी माँ की तहक़ीर करता है।
21 Folly is joy to one lacking heart, And a man of intelligence directeth [his] going.
बे'अक़्ल के लिए बेवक़ूफ़ी शादमानी का ज़रिया' है, लेकिन समझदार अपने चाल चलन को दुरुस्त करता है
22 Without counsel [is] the making void of purposes, And in a multitude of counsellors it is established.
सलाह के बगै़र इरादे पूरे नहीं होते, लेकिन सलाहकारों की कसरत से क़याम पाते हैं।
23 Joy [is] to a man in the answer of his mouth, And a word in its season — how good!
आदमी अपने मुँह के जवाब से ख़ुश होता है, और बामौक़ा' बात क्या खू़ब है।
'अक़्लमंद के लिए ज़िन्दगी की राह ऊपर को जाती है, ताकि वह पाताल में उतरने से बच जाए। (Sheol h7585)
25 The house of the proud Jehovah pulleth down, And He setteth up the border of the widow.
ख़ुदावन्द मग़रूरों का घर ढा देता है, लेकिन वह बेवा के सिवाने को क़ाईम करता है।
26 An abomination to Jehovah [are] thoughts of wickedness, And pure [are] sayings of pleasantness.
बुरे मन्सूबों से ख़ुदावन्द को नफ़रत है लेकिन पाक लोगों का कलाम पसंदीदा है।
27 A dishonest gainer is troubling his house, And whoso is hating gifts liveth.
नफ़े' का लालची अपने घराने को परेशान करता है, लेकिन वह जिसकी रिश्वत से नफ़रत है ज़िन्दा रहेगा।
28 The heart of the righteous meditateth to answer, And the mouth of the wicked uttereth evil things.
सादिक़ का दिल सोचकर जवाब देता है, लेकिन शरीरों का मुँह बुरी बातें उगलता है।
29 Far [is] Jehovah from the wicked, And the prayer of the righteous He heareth.
ख़ुदावन्द शरीरों से दूर है, लेकिन वह सादिक़ों की दुआ सुनता है।
30 The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart, A good report maketh fat the bone.
आँखों का नूर दिल को ख़ुश करता है, और ख़ुश ख़बरी हड्डियों में फ़रबही पैदा करती है।
31 An ear that is hearing the reproof of life Doth lodge among the wise.
जो ज़िन्दगी बख़्श तम्बीह पर कान लगाता है, 'अक़्लमंदों के बीच सुकूनत करेगा।
32 Whoso is refusing instruction is despising his soul, And whoso is hearing reproof Is getting understanding.
तरबियत को रद्द करने वाला अपनी ही जान का दुश्मन है, लेकिन तम्बीह पर कान लगाने वाला समझ हासिल करता है।
33 The fear of Jehovah [is] the instruction of wisdom, And before honour [is] humility!
ख़ुदावन्द का ख़ौफ़ हिकमत की तरबियत है, और सरफ़राज़ी से पहले फ़रोतनी है।
