Proverbs 10
1 Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son causeth a father to rejoice, And a foolish son [is] an affliction to his mother.
੧ਸੁਲੇਮਾਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਹਾਉਤਾਂ, ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮਾਂ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਦੁੱਖ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ।
2 Treasures of wickedness profit not, And righteousness delivereth from death.
੨ਬਦੀ ਨਾਲ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਲਾਭ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਨੇਕੀ ਦੇ ਕੰਮ ਮੌਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
3 Jehovah causeth not the soul of the righteous to hunger, And the desire of the wicked He thrusteth away.
੩ਧਰਮੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਭੁੱਖਾ ਰਹਿਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਲੋਚ ਉਹ ਪੂਰਾ ਹੋਣ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ।
4 Poor [is] he who is working — a slothful hand, And the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
੪ਆਲਸੀ ਹੱਥ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਉੱਦਮੀ ਦਾ ਹੱਥ ਧਨੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
5 Whoso is gathering in summer [is] a wise son, Whoso is sleeping in harvest [is] a son causing shame.
੫ਜਿਹੜਾ ਧੁੱਪ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਕੱਠਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਸਿਆਣਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵਾਢੀ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ।
6 Blessings [are] for the head of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked cover doth violence.
੬ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਅਸੀਸਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਢੱਕ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
7 The remembrance of the righteous [is] for a blessing, And the name of the wicked doth rot.
੭ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਮੁਬਾਰਕ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
8 The wise in heart accepteth commands, And a talkative fool kicketh.
੮ਮਨ ਦਾ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੁਕਮ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਬਕਵਾਸੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਡਿੱਗ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
9 Whoso is walking in integrity walketh confidently, And whoso is perverting his ways is known.
੯ਸਿੱਧਾ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਬੇਫ਼ਿਕਰ ਤੁਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਟੇਢੀ ਚਾਲ ਚਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਉਜਾਗਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
10 Whoso is winking the eye giveth grief, And a talkative fool kicketh.
੧੦ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਮਟਕਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਦੂਸਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਪਹੁੰਚਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਬਕਵਾਸੀ ਮੂਰਖ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
11 A fountain of life [is] the mouth of the righteous, And the mouth of the wicked cover doth violence.
੧੧ਧਰਮੀ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਚਸ਼ਮਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ੁਲਮ ਢੱਕ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
12 Hatred awaketh contentions, And over all transgressions love covereth.
੧੨ਵੈਰ ਝਗੜੇ ਛੇੜਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਅਪਰਾਧਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢੱਕ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
13 In the lips of the intelligent is wisdom found, And a rod [is] for the back of him who is lacking understanding.
੧੩ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਆਂ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੁੱਧ ਲੱਭਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸਮਝ ਦੀ ਪਿੱਠ ਲਈ ਸੋਟੀ ਹੈ।
14 The wise lay up knowledge, and the mouth of a fool [is] near ruin.
੧੪ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਛੱਡਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰੰਤੂ ਮੂਰਖ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ ਲਿਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
15 The wealth of the rich [is] his strong city, The ruin of the poor [is] their poverty.
੧੫ਧਨੀ ਦਾ ਧਨ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਪੱਕਾ ਨਗਰ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕੰਗਾਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਕੰਗਾਲੀ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਹੈ।
16 The wage of the righteous [is] for life, The increase of the wicked for sin.
੧੬ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਫ਼ਾ ਪਾਪ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
17 A traveller to life [is] he who is keeping instruction, And whoso is forsaking rebuke is erring.
੧੭ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤਾੜਨਾ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਰਾਹ ਤੋਂ ਭੁੱਲਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
18 Whoso is covering hatred with lying lips, And whoso is bringing out an evil report is a fool.
੧੮ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੈਰ ਨੂੰ ਲੁਕੋ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਝੂਠਾ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿੰਦਿਆ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮੂਰਖ ਹੈ।
19 In the abundance of words transgression ceaseth not, And whoso is restraining his lips [is] wise.
੧੯ਜਿੱਥੇ ਬਹੁਤੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ, ਉੱਥੇ ਅਪਰਾਧ ਵੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਜੋ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਹੈ।
20 The tongue of the righteous [is] chosen silver, The heart of the wicked — as a little thing.
੨੦ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਖਰੀ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਤੁੱਛ ਹੈ।
21 The lips of the righteous delight many, And fools for lack of heart die.
੨੧ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਬੋਲ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਜਾਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੂਰਖ ਬੇਸਮਝੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
22 The blessing of Jehovah — it maketh rich, And He addeth no grief with it.
੨੨ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਧਨੀ ਬਣਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਾਉਂਦਾ।
23 To execute inventions [is] as play to a fool, And wisdom to a man of understanding.
੨੩ਮੂਰਖ ਲਈ ਤਾਂ ਪਾਪ ਕਰਨਾ ਹਾਸੇ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਸਮਝ ਵਾਲੇ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੁੱਧ ਪਾਈ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
24 The feared thing of the wicked it meeteth him, And the desire of the righteous is given.
੨੪ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਜਿਸ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਤੋਂ ਡਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹੋ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਣ ਪਵੇਗੀ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਿਆ ਪੂਰੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
25 As the passing by of a hurricane, So the wicked is not, And the righteous is a foundation age-during.
੨੫ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਵਾਵਰੋਲੇ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਲੰਘ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਨੀਂਹ ਅਟੱਲ ਹੈ।
26 As vinegar to the teeth, And as smoke to the eyes, So [is] the slothful to those sending him.
੨੬ਜਿਵੇਂ ਦੰਦਾਂ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਕਾ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਧੂੰਆਂ ਹੈ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਆਲਸੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਭੇਜਣ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
27 The fear of Jehovah addeth days, And the years of the wicked are shortened.
੨੭ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਉਮਰ ਵਧਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਥੋੜ੍ਹੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ।
28 The hope of the righteous [is] joyful, And the expectation of the wicked perisheth.
੨੮ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਮਿਟ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
29 The way of Jehovah [is] strength to the perfect, And ruin to workers of iniquity.
੨੯ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਖ਼ਰਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਪੱਕਾ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਕੁਕਰਮੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਵਿਨਾਸ਼ ਹੈ।
30 The righteous to the age is not moved, And the wicked inhabit not the earth.
੩੦ਧਰਮੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਅਟੱਲ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਾ ਵੱਸਣਗੇ।
31 The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, And the tongue of frowardness is cut out.
੩੧ਧਰਮੀ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਬੁੱਧ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਟੇਢੀ ਜੀਭ ਵੱਢੀ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
32 The lips of the righteous know a pleasing thing, And the mouth of the wicked perverseness!
੩੨ਧਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਲ ਮਨ ਭਾਉਂਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਜਾਣਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਦਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਪੁੱਠੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ।
