Numbers 35
1 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, in the plains of Moab, by Jordan, [near] Jericho, saying,
Habló Yahvé a Moisés en las campiñas de Moab, junto al Jordán, frente a Jericó, diciendo:
2 'Command the sons of Israel, and they have given to the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to inhabit; also a suburb for the cities round about them ye do give to the Levites.
“Manda a los hijos de Israel que de las posesiones de su propiedad cedan a los levitas ciudades para habitar; también daréis a los levitas lugares de pasto alrededor de esas ciudades.
3 And the cities have been to them to inhabit, and their suburbs are for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.
Las ciudades servirán para que habiten en ellas, y sus dehesas serán para sus ganados, para sus rebaños y para todos sus animales.
4 'And the suburbs of the cities which ye give to the Levites [are], from the wall of the city and without, a thousand cubits round about.
Las dehesas para las ciudades que daréis a los levitas, abarcarán, a partir del muro de la ciudad, para afuera, el espacio de mil codos a la redonda.
5 And ye have measured from the outside of the city, the east quarter, two thousand by the cubit, and the south quarter, two thousand by the cubit, and the west quarter, two thousand by the cubit, and the north quarter, two thousand by the cubit; and the city [is] in the midst; this is to them the suburbs of the cities.
Mediréis, fuera de la ciudad, al oriente dos mil codos, al mediodía dos mil codos, al occidente dos mil codos, y al norte dos mil codos, de suerte que la ciudad esté en el centro. Estas serán las dehesas para las ciudades.
6 'And the cities which ye give to the Levites [are] the six cities of refuge, which ye give for the fleeing thither of the man-slayer, and besides them ye give forty and two cities;
De estas ciudades que daréis a los levitas seis serán las ciudades de refugio, las cuales destinaréis para que se refugie en ellas el que derramare sangre. Además de estas daréis cuarenta y dos ciudades.
7 all the cities which ye give to the Levites [are] forty and eight cities, them and their suburbs.
Todas las ciudades con sus dehesas que habéis de dar a los levitas serán cuarenta y ocho.
8 And the cities which ye give [are] of the possession of the sons of Israel, from the many ye multiply, and from the few ye diminish; each, according to his inheritance which they inherit, doth give of his cities to the Levites.'
Las ciudades que les daréis de la posesión de los hijos de Israel, las tomaréis en mayor número de los que tienen muchas, y en menor número de los que tienen pocas. Cada (tribu) dará de sus ciudades a los levitas en proporción de la herencia que haya recibido.”
9 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
Habló Yahvé a Moisés, diciendo:
10 'Speak unto the sons of Israel, and thou hast said unto them, When ye are passing over the Jordan to the land of Canaan,
“Habla a los hijos de Israel y diles: Después de haber pasado el Jordán (y entrado) en la tierra de Canaán,
11 and have prepared to yourselves cities — cities of refuge they are to you — then fled thither hath a man-slayer, smiting a person unawares,
elegiréis ciudades que sean para vosotros ciudades de refugio, para que pueda refugiarse allá el homicida que por error haya dado muerte a una persona.
12 and the cities have been to you for a refuge from the redeemer, and the man-slayer doth not die till his standing before the company for judgment.
Estas ciudades de refugio os servirán de asilo contra el vengador de la sangre, para que no muera el homicida antes de presentarse delante de la Congregación para ser juzgado.
13 'As to the cities which ye give — six [are] cities of refuge to you;
De las ciudades que habéis de reservar, seis os servirán de ciudades de refugio.
14 the three of the cities ye give beyond the Jordan, and the three of the cities ye give in the land of Canaan; cities of refuge they are.
Tres ciudades señalaréis en la otra parte del Jordán, y tres en la tierra de Canaán. Estas serán ciudades de refugio.
15 To sons of Israel, and to a sojourner, and to a settler in their midst, are these six cities for a refuge, for the fleeing thither of any one smiting a person unawares.
Tanto para los hijos de Israel como para el extranjero y el que mora en medio de ellos, estas seis ciudades servirán de asilo, para que pueda refugiarse allá quien haya matado a alguno por error.”
16 'And if with an instrument of iron he hath smitten him, and he dieth, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
“Si lo hiere con instrumento de hierro y muere (el herido), homicida es; el homicida será muerto irremisiblemente.
17 'And if with a stone [in] the hand, wherewith he dieth, he hath smitten him, and he dieth, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
Si lo hiere teniendo en la mano una piedra que pueda causar la muerte, y (el herido) muere, homicida es; el homicida será muerto irremisiblemente.
18 'Or with a wooden instrument [in] the hand, wherewith he dieth, he hath smitten him, and he dieth, he [is] a murderer: the murderer is certainly put to death.
O si lo hirió teniendo en la mano un instrumento de madera que pueda causar la muerte, y (el herido) muere, homicida es; el homicida será muerto irremisiblemente.
19 'The redeemer of blood himself doth put the murderer to death; in his coming against him he doth put him to death.
El vengador de la sangre matará él mismo al homicida; dondequiera que le encuentre lo matará.
20 'And if in hatred he thrust him through, or hath cast [anything] at him by lying in wait, and he dieth;
Si por odio le da empellones, o arroja algo sobre él con mala intención y (el herido) muere,
21 or in enmity he hath smitten him with his hand, and he dieth; the smiter is certainly put to death; he [is] a murderer; the redeemer of blood doth put the murderer to death in his coming against him.
o si por enemistad lo hiere a puñadas y se sigue la muerte, será muerto irremisiblemente aquel que le dio el golpe; homicida es; el vengador de la sangre dará muerte al homicida tan pronto como lo encontrare.
22 'And if, in an instant, without enmity, he hath thrust him through, or hath cast at him any instrument, without lying in wait;
Mas si por casualidad, sin enemistad, le da un empujón o arroja sobre él cualquier cosa sin intención maligna,
23 or with any stone wherewith he dieth, without seeing, and causeth [it] to fall upon him, and he dieth, and he [is] not his enemy, nor seeking his evil;
o si, sin verle, deja caer sobre él una piedra que pueda causar la muerte, y se sigue la muerte, sin que él fuese enemigo suyo y sin procurar su daño;
24 then have the company judged between the smiter and the redeemer of blood, by these judgments.
entonces la Congregación juzgará entre el homicida y el vengador de la sangre, de acuerdo con estas normas.
25 'And the company have delivered the man-slayer out of the hand of the redeemer of blood, and the company have caused him to turn back unto the city of his refuge, whither he hath fled, and he hath dwelt in it till the death of the chief priest, who hath been anointed with the holy oil.
La Congregación librará al homicida de la mano del vengador de la sangre, y le volverá a su ciudad de asilo, donde se refugió; y habitará en ella hasta la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote ungido con el óleo santo.
26 'And if the man-slayer at all go out [from] the border of the city of his refuge whither he fleeth,
Mas si el homicida sale fuera de los límites de su ciudad de asilo, donde se refugió,
27 and the redeemer of blood hath found him at the outside of the border of the city of his refuge, and the redeemer of blood hath slain the man-slayer, blood is not for him;
y el vengador de la sangre le halla fuera de los límites de su ciudad de refugio, y el vengador de la sangre mata al homicida, no tendrá culpa de sangre,
28 for in the city of his refuge he doth dwell till the death of the chief priest; and after the death of the chief priest doth the man-slayer turn back unto the city of his possession.
por cuanto (el homicida) debe permanecer en su ciudad de refugio hasta la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote; solo después de la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote podrá el homicida volver a la tierra de su posesión.
29 'And these things have been to you for a statute of judgment to your generations, in all your dwellings:
Estas reglas os servirán de normas de derecho, de generación en generación, en todas vuestras moradas.”
30 whoso smiteth a person, by the mouth of witnesses doth [one] slay the murderer; and one witness doth not testify against a person — to die.
“Todo homicida será muerto por el testimonio de testigos; un solo testigo no podrá deponer contra nadie para hacerle morir.
31 'And ye take no atonement for the life of a murderer who [is] condemned — to die, for he is certainly put to death;
No aceptaréis rescate por la vida del homicida que es digno de muerte; sino que morirá irremisiblemente.
32 and ye take no atonement for him to flee unto the city of his refuge, to turn back to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.
Tampoco aceptaréis rescate por aquel que se refugió en su ciudad de asilo, para que vuelva a vivir en su tierra antes de la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote.
33 'And ye profane not the land which ye [are] in, for blood profaneth the land; as to the land, it is not pardoned for blood which is shed in it except by the blood of him who sheddeth it;
No profanéis el país donde moráis; porque la sangre profana la tierra; y no hay expiación por la tierra para purificarla de la sangre en ella derramada sino con la sangre de aquel que la derramó.
34 and ye defile not the land in which ye are dwelling, in the midst of which I do tabernacle, for I Jehovah do tabernacle in the midst of the sons of Israel.'
Por lo cual no contaminéis el país donde moráis, y en cuyo medio habito Yo, pues Yo, Yahvé, tengo mi morada en medio de los hijos de Israel.”
