Numbers 23

1 And Balaam saith unto Balak, 'Build for me in this [place] seven altars, and make ready for me in this [place] seven bullocks and seven rams.'

Und Bileam sprach zu Balak: Baue mir hier sieben Altäre, und richte mir sieben Farren und sieben Widder zu.

2 And Balak doth as Balaam hath spoken, and Balak — Balaam also — offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar,

Und Balak tat wie Bileam geredet; und Balak und Bileam opferten einen Farren und einen Widder auf dem Altar auf.

3 and Balaam saith to Balak, 'Station thyself by thy burnt-offering and I go on, it may be Jehovah doth come to meet me, and the thing which He sheweth me — I have declared to thee;' and he goeth [to] a high place.

Und Bileam sprach zu Balak: Stelle dich bei deinem Brandopfer, und ich will hingehen. Vielleicht begegnet mir Jehovah; und was Er mich sehen läßt, will ich dir ansagen. Und er ging auf einen kahlen Hügel.

4 And God cometh unto Balaam, and he saith unto Him, 'The seven altars I have arranged, and I offer a bullock and a ram on the altar;'

Und Gott begegnete dem Bileam, und er sprach zu Ihm: Sieben Altäre habe ich zugerichtet und einen Farren und einen Widder auf dem Altar aufgeopfert.

5 and Jehovah putteth a word in the mouth of Balaam, and saith, 'Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

Und Jehovah legte dem Bileam ein Wort in den Mund und sprach: Kehre zurück zu Balak und also sollst du reden.

6 And he turneth back unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, he and all the princes of Moab.

Und er kehrte zu ihm zurück und siehe, er hatte sich zu seinem Brandopfer gestellt, er und alle Obersten Moabs.

7 And he taketh up his simile, and saith: 'From Aram he doth lead me — Balak king of Moab; From mountains of the east: Come — curse for me Jacob, And come — be indignant [with] Israel.

Und er hob an seinen Spruch und sprach: Von Aram her führt mich Balak, Moabs König, von den Bergen des Ostens: Komm und verfluche mir Jakob, und komm und ergrimme über Israel!

8 What — do I pierce? — God hath not pierced! And what — am I indignant? — Jehovah hath not been indignant!

Was soll ich verwünschen, den Gott nicht verwünscht? Und was ergrimmen, wo Jehovah nicht ergrimmt?

9 For from the top of rocks I see it, And from heights I behold it; Lo a people! alone it doth tabernacle, And among nations doth not reckon itself.

Von der Spitze der Felsen sehe ich ihn, und von den Hügeln betrachte ich ihn. Siehe, ein Volk, das besonders wohnt und unter die Völkerschaften nicht gerechnet wird.

10 Who hath counted the dust of Jacob, And the number of the fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of upright ones, And let my last end be like his!'

Wer berechnet den Staub Jakobs und die Zahl des vierten Teils von Israel? Möge meine Seele sterben den Tod der Redlichen, und mein Letztes sein wie das seine!

11 And Balak saith unto Balaam, 'What hast thou done to me? to pierce mine enemies I have taken thee — and lo, thou hast certainly blessed;'

Und Balak sprach zu Bileam: Was tust du mir? Meine Feinde zu verwünschen, habe ich dich genommen, und siehe, du segnest sie!

12 and he answereth and saith, 'That which Jehovah doth put in my mouth — it do I not take heed to speak?'

Und er antwortete und sprach: Muß ich nicht das, was mir Jehovah in den Mund legt, halten, es zu reden?

13 And Balak saith unto him, 'Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, whence thou dost see it, only its extremity thou dost see, and all of it thou dost not see, and pierce it for me thence;'

Und Balak sprach zu ihm: Komm doch mit mir an einen andern Ort, von wo aus du es sehen wirst. Aber nur sein Ende wirst du sehen, und wirst nicht alles von ihm sehen, und von da sollst du ihn verwünschen.

14 and he taketh him [to] the field of Zophim, unto the top of Pisgah, and buildeth seven altars, and offereth a bullock and a ram on the altar.

Und er nahm ihn auf das Feld Zophim, auf das Haupt des Pisgah und baute sieben Altäre und opferte einen Farren und einen Widder auf dem Altar auf.

15 And he saith unto Balak, 'Station thyself here by thy burnt-offering, and I — I meet [Him] there;'

Und er sprach zu Balak: Stelle dich hier bei deinem Brandopfer und ich will dort entgegengehen.

16 and Jehovah cometh unto Balaam, and setteth a word in his mouth, and saith, 'Turn back unto Balak, and thus thou dost speak.'

Und Jehovah begegnete Bileam und legte ein Wort in seinen Mund und sprach: Kehre zurück zu Balak, und also sollst du reden.

17 And he cometh unto him, and lo, he is standing by his burnt-offering, and the princes of Moab with him, and Balak saith to him: 'What hath Jehovah spoken?'

Und er kam zu ihm und siehe, er hatte sich bei seinem Brandopfer gestellt und mit ihm Moabs Obersten. Und Balak sprach zu ihm: Was hat Jehovah geredet?

18 And he taketh up his simile, and saith: 'Rise, Balak, and hear; Give ear unto me, son of Zippor!

Und er hob seinen Spruch an und sprach: Stehe auf, Balak, und höre, Sohn Zippors nimm es zu Ohren!

19 God [is] not a man — and lieth, And a son of man — and repenteth! Hath He said — and doth He not do [it]? And spoken — and doth He not confirm it?

Nicht ist Gott ein Mann, daß Er Falsches rede, noch eines Menschen Sohn, daß Ihn reuete. Sollte Er es sprechen und nicht tun? und reden und es nicht zustande bringen?

20 Lo, to bless I have received: Yea, He blesseth, and I [can] not reverse it.

Siehe, Segen habe ich empfangen. Er hat gesegnet und ich kann es nicht zurücknehmen.

21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, Nor hath He seen perverseness in Israel; Jehovah his God [is] with him, And a shout of a king [is] in him.

Unrecht erblickt Er in Jakob nicht, und Mühsal sieht Er nicht in Israel. Jehovah, sein Gott, ist mit ihm, und der Jubelruf des Königs ist bei ihm.

22 God is bringing them out from Egypt, As the swiftness of a Reem is to him;

Gott hat sie aus Ägypten herausgebracht und Er hat die Festigkeit des Einhorns.

23 For no enchantment [is] against Jacob, Nor divination against Israel, At the time it is said of Jacob and Israel, What hath God wrought!

Keine Beschwörung gibt es gegen Jakob, und keinen Wahrsagespruch gegen Israel. Zu dieser Zeit wird man zu Jakob und zu Israel sagen: Was hat Gott getan?

24 Lo, the people as a lioness riseth, And as a lion he lifteth himself up, He lieth not down till he eateth prey, And blood of pierced ones doth drink.'

Siehe da, dem alten Löwen gleich wird aufstehen das Volk, es wird sich erheben gleich dem Leuen, es wird sich nicht legen, bis es das Zerfleischte verzehrt und das Blut Erschlagener getrunken hat.

25 And Balak saith unto Balaam, 'Neither pierce it at all, nor bless it at all;'

Und Balak sprach zu Bileam: So sollst du es weder verwünschen, noch es segnen.

26 and Balaam answereth and saith unto Balak, 'Have I not spoken unto thee, saying, All that Jehovah speaketh — it I do?'

Bileam aber antwortete und sprach zu Balak: Habe ich zu dir nicht geredet und gesagt: Alles, was Gott reden wird, das muß ich tun?

27 And Balak saith unto Balaam, 'Come, I pray thee, I take thee unto another place; it may be it is right in the eyes of God — to pierce it for me from thence.'

Und Balak sprach zu Bileam: Komm doch, ich will dich an einen anderen Ort nehmen. Vielleicht ist es recht vor den Augen Gottes, daß du es mir von dort verwünschest.

28 And Balak taketh Balaam to the top of Peor, which is looking on the front of the wilderness,

Und Balak nahm Bileam auf das Haupt des Peor, der schaut über das Angesicht des Wüstenlandes.

29 and Balaam saith unto Balak, 'Build for me in this [place] seven altars, and make ready for me in this [place] seven bullocks and seven rams;'

Und Bileam sprach zu Balak: Baue mir hier sieben Altäre und mache mir hier sieben Farren und sieben Widder bereit.

30 and Balak doth as Balaam said, and he offereth a bullock and a ram on an altar.

Und Balak tat, wie Bileam sagte und opferte einen Farren und einen Widder auf dem Altare auf.
