Numbers 13
1 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
Și DOMNUL i-a vorbit lui Moise, spunând:
2 'Send for thee men, and they spy the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel; one man, one man for the tribe of his fathers ye do send, every one a prince among them.'
Trimite bărbați, ca ei să cerceteze țara lui Canaan, pe care o dau copiilor lui Israel; din fiecare trib al părinților lor să trimiteți un bărbat, fiecare să fie un conducător printre ei.
3 And Moses sendeth them from the wilderness of Paran by the command of Jehovah; all of them [are] men, heads of the sons of Israel they are,
Și Moise prin porunca DOMNULUI i-a trimis din pustiul Paran; toți acei bărbați erau căpeteniile copiilor lui Israel.
4 and these their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur.
Și acestea erau numele lor, din tribul lui Ruben: Șamua, fiul lui Zacur.
5 For the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori.
Din tribul lui Simeon: Șafat, fiul lui Hori.
6 For the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh.
Din tribul lui Iuda: Caleb, fiul lui Iefune.
7 For the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph.
Din tribul lui Isahar: Igal, fiul lui Iosif.
8 For the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea, son of Nun.
Din tribul lui Efraim: Oșea, fiul lui Nun.
9 For the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu.
Din tribul lui Beniamin: Palti, fiul lui Rafu.
10 For the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi.
Din tribul lui Zabulon: Gadiel, fiul lui Sodi.
11 For the tribe of Joseph, (for the tribe of Manasseh, ) Gaddi son of Susi.
Din tribul lui Iosif, adică, din tribul lui Manase: Gadi, fiul lui Susi.
12 For the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli.
Din tribul lui Dan: Amiel, fiul lui Ghemali.
13 For the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael.
Din tribul lui Așer: Setur, fiul lui Mihail.
14 For the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vopshi.
Din tribul lui Neftali: Nabi, fiul lui Vofsi.
15 For the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.
Din tribul lui Gad: Gheuel, fiul lui Machi.
16 These [are] the names of the men whom Moses hath sent to spy the land; and Moses calleth Hoshea son of Nun, Jehoshua.
Acestea sunt numele bărbaților pe care Moise i-a trimis să cerceteze țara. Și Moise a pus numele lui Oșea, fiul lui Nun, Iosua.
17 And Moses sendeth them to spy the land of Canaan, and saith unto them, 'Go ye up this [way] into the south, and ye have gone up the mountain,
Și Moise i-a trimis să cerceteze țara lui Canaan și le-a spus: Ridicați-vă pe această cale spre sud și urcați-vă la munte;
18 and have seen the land what it [is], and the people which is dwelling on it, whether it [is] strong or feeble; whether it [is] few or many;
Și vedeți țara, cum este; și poporul care locuiește în ea, dacă sunt puternici sau slabi, puțini sau mulți;
19 and what the land [is] in which it is dwelling, whether it [is] good or bad; and what [are] the cities in which it is dwelling, whether in camps or in fortresses;
Și cum este țara în care locuiesc, dacă este bună sau rea; și ce fel de cetăți sunt cele în care locuiesc, sau locuiesc în corturi, sau în cetăți întărite.
20 And what the land [is], whether it [is] fat or lean; whether there is wood in it or not; and ye have strengthened yourselves, and have taken of the fruit of the land;' and the days [are] days of the first-fruits of grapes.
Și cum este țara, dacă este grasă sau uscată, dacă este lemn în ea, sau nu. Și încurajați-vă și aduceți din rodul țării. Acum timpul era timpul primului rod al strugurilor.
21 And they go up and spy the land, from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob at the going in to Hamath;
Astfel că s-au urcat și au cercetat țara de la pustiul Țin până la Rehob, cum vin oamenii la Hamat.
22 and they go up by the south, and come in unto Hebron, and there [are] Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, children of Anak (and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt),
Și au urcat pe la sud și au venit la Hebron; unde erau Ahiman, Șeșai și Talmai, copiii lui Anac. (Acum Hebronul a fost zidit cu șapte ani înaintea Țoanului în Egipt.)
23 and they come in unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down thence a branch and one cluster of grapes, and they bear it on a staff by two, also [some] of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
Și au venit la pârâul lui Eșcol și au retezat de acolo o creangă cu un singur ciorchine de struguri și l-au purtat între doi pe un toiag; și au adus din rodii și din smochine.
24 That place hath [one] called Brook of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut from thence.
Locul a fost numit pârâul Eșcol, din cauza ciorchinelui de struguri pe care copiii lui Israel l-au retezat de acolo.
25 And they turn back from spying the land at the end of forty days.
Și s-au întors de la cercetarea țării după patruzeci de zile.
26 And they go and come in unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto all the company of the sons of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they bring them and all the company back word, and shew them the fruit of the land.
Și au mers și au venit la Moise și la Aaron și la toată adunarea copiilor lui Israel, în pustiul Paran, la Cades; și le-au adus înapoi răspuns, lor și la toată adunarea, și le-au arătat rodul țării.
27 And they recount to him, and say, 'We came in unto the land whither thou hast sent us, and also it [is] flowing with milk and honey — and this [is] its fruit;
Și i-au povestit și au spus: Am intrat în țara unde ne-ai trimis și cu adevărat în aceasta curge lapte și miere; și acesta este rodul ei.
28 only, surely the people which is dwelling in the land [is] strong; and the cities are fenced, very great; and also children of Anak we have seen there.
Totuși poporul care locuiește în țară este puternic și cetățile sunt foarte mari și înconjurate cu ziduri; și mai mult, am văzut pe copiii lui Anac acolo.
29 Amalek is dwelling in the land of the south, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite is dwelling in the hill country, and the Canaanite is dwelling by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.'
Amaleciții locuiesc în țara de sud și hitiții și iebusiții și amoriții locuiesc în munți; și canaaniții locuiesc lângă mare și pe lângă Iordan.
30 And Caleb stilleth the people concerning Moses, and saith, 'Let us certainly go up — and we have possessed it; for we are thoroughly able for it.'
Și Caleb a liniștit poporul înaintea lui Moise și a spus: Să ne ridicăm deodată și să o stăpânim, pentru că suntem în stare să o învingem.
31 And the men who have gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for it [is] stronger than we;'
Dar bărbații care au urcat cu el au spus: Noi nu suntem în stare să ne ridicăm împotriva acestui popor, pentru că ei sunt mai tari ca noi.
32 and they bring out an evil account of the land which they have spied unto the sons of Israel, saying, 'The land into which we passed over to spy it, is a land eating up its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in its midst [are] men of stature;
Și au adus un raport rău copiilor lui Israel despre țara pe care o cercetaseră, spunând: Țara prin care am trecut să o cercetăm, este o țară care mănâncă pe locuitorii ei; și tot poporul pe care l-am văzut în ea sunt oameni de o statură mare.
33 and there we saw the Nephilim, sons of Anak, of the Nephilim; and we are in our own eyes as grasshoppers; and so we were in their eyes.'
Și acolo am văzut pe uriași, fiii lui Anac, care se trag din uriași; și eram în ochii noștri asemenea cosașelor și astfel eram și înaintea ochilor lor.
