Numbers 13
1 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
E fallou o Senhor a Moysés, dizendo:
2 'Send for thee men, and they spy the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel; one man, one man for the tribe of his fathers ye do send, every one a prince among them.'
Envia homens que espiem a terra de Canaan, que eu hei de dar aos filhos d'Israel; de cada tribu de seus paes enviareis um homem, sendo cada qual maioral entre elles.
3 And Moses sendeth them from the wilderness of Paran by the command of Jehovah; all of them [are] men, heads of the sons of Israel they are,
E enviou-os Moysés do deserto de Paran, segundo o dito do Senhor; todos aquelles homens eram Cabeças dos filhos d'Israel.
4 and these their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur.
E estes são os seus nomes: Da tribu de Ruben, Sammua, filho de Saccur,
5 For the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori.
Da tribu de Simeão Saphath, filho de Hori;
6 For the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh.
Da tribu de Judah, Caleb, filho de Jefoné;
7 For the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph.
Da tribu d'Issacar, Jigeal, filho de José;
8 For the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea, son of Nun.
Da tribu d'Ephraim, Hosea, filho de Nun;
9 For the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu.
Da tribu de Benjamin, Palti, filho de Raphu;
10 For the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi.
Da tribu de Zebulon, Gaddiel, filho de Sodi;
11 For the tribe of Joseph, (for the tribe of Manasseh, ) Gaddi son of Susi.
Da tribu de José, pela tribu de Manasseh, Gaddi filho de Susi;
12 For the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli.
Da tribu de Dan, Ammiel, filho de Gemalli;
13 For the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael.
Da tribu d'Aser, Sethur, filho de Michael;
14 For the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vopshi.
Da tribu de Naphtali, Nabbi, filho de Vophsi;
15 For the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.
Da tribu de Gad, Guel, filho de Machi.
16 These [are] the names of the men whom Moses hath sent to spy the land; and Moses calleth Hoshea son of Nun, Jehoshua.
Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moysés enviou a espiar aquella terra: e a Hosea, filho de Nun, Moysés chamou Josué.
17 And Moses sendeth them to spy the land of Canaan, and saith unto them, 'Go ye up this [way] into the south, and ye have gone up the mountain,
Enviou-os pois Moysés a espiar a terra de Canaan: e disse-lhes: Subi por aqui para a banda do sul, e subi á montanha:
18 and have seen the land what it [is], and the people which is dwelling on it, whether it [is] strong or feeble; whether it [is] few or many;
E vêde que terra é, e o povo que n'ella habita; se é forte ou fraco; se pouco ou muito.
19 and what the land [is] in which it is dwelling, whether it [is] good or bad; and what [are] the cities in which it is dwelling, whether in camps or in fortresses;
E qual é a terra em que habita, se boa ou má: e quaes são as cidades em que habita; ou em arraiaes, ou em fortalezas.
20 And what the land [is], whether it [is] fat or lean; whether there is wood in it or not; and ye have strengthened yourselves, and have taken of the fruit of the land;' and the days [are] days of the first-fruits of grapes.
Tambem qual é a terra, se grossa ou magra: se n'ella ha arvores, ou não: e esforçae-vos, e tomae do fructo da terra. E eram aquelles dias os dias das primicias das uvas.
21 And they go up and spy the land, from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob at the going in to Hamath;
Assim subiram, e espiaram a terra desde o deserto de Zín, até Rehob, á entrada de Hamath.
22 and they go up by the south, and come in unto Hebron, and there [are] Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, children of Anak (and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt),
E subiram para a banda do sul, e vieram até Hebron; e estavam ali Aiman, Sesai, e Talmai, filhos d'Enac: e Hebron foi edificada sete annos antes de Zoan no Egypto.
23 and they come in unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down thence a branch and one cluster of grapes, and they bear it on a staff by two, also [some] of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
Depois vieram até ao valle d'Escol, e d'ali cortaram um ramo de vide com um cacho d'uvas, o qual trouxeram dois homens sobre uma verga: como tambem das romãs e dos figos.
24 That place hath [one] called Brook of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut from thence.
Chamaram áquelle logar o valle d'Escol, por causa do cacho que d'ali cortaram os filhos de Israel.
25 And they turn back from spying the land at the end of forty days.
Depois tornaram-se d'espiar a terra, ao fim de quarenta dias.
26 And they go and come in unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto all the company of the sons of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they bring them and all the company back word, and shew them the fruit of the land.
E caminharam, e vieram a Moysés e a Aarão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel no deserto de Paran, a Cades, e, tornando, deram-lhes conta a elles, e a toda a congregação, e mostraram-lhes o fructo da terra
27 And they recount to him, and say, 'We came in unto the land whither thou hast sent us, and also it [is] flowing with milk and honey — and this [is] its fruit;
E contaram-lhe e disseram: Fomos á terra a que nos enviaste; e verdadeiramente mana leite e mel, e este é o fructo.
28 only, surely the people which is dwelling in the land [is] strong; and the cities are fenced, very great; and also children of Anak we have seen there.
O povo porém que habita n'essa terra é poderoso, e as cidades fortes e mui grandes; e tambem ali vimos os filhos d'Enac.
29 Amalek is dwelling in the land of the south, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite is dwelling in the hill country, and the Canaanite is dwelling by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.'
Os amalequitas habitam na terra do sul; e os heteos, e os jebuseos, e os amorrheos habitam na montanha: e os cananeos habitam ao pé do mar, e pela ribeira do Jordão.
30 And Caleb stilleth the people concerning Moses, and saith, 'Let us certainly go up — and we have possessed it; for we are thoroughly able for it.'
Então Caleb fez calar o povo perante Moysés, e disse: Subamos animosamente, e possuamol-a em herança: porque certamente prevaleceremos contra ella.
31 And the men who have gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for it [is] stronger than we;'
Porém os homens que com elle subiram disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquelle povo, porque é mais forte do que nós.
32 and they bring out an evil account of the land which they have spied unto the sons of Israel, saying, 'The land into which we passed over to spy it, is a land eating up its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in its midst [are] men of stature;
E infamaram a terra que tinham espiado para com os filhos d'Israel, dizendo: A terra, pelo meio da qual passamos a espiar, é terra que consome os seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos no meio d'ella são homens de grande estatura.
33 and there we saw the Nephilim, sons of Anak, of the Nephilim; and we are in our own eyes as grasshoppers; and so we were in their eyes.'
Tambem vimos ali gigantes, filhos d'Enac, descendentes dos gigantes: e eramos aos nossos olhos como gafanhotos, e assim tambem eramos aos seus olhos.
