Nehemiah 13
1 On that day there was read in the book of Moses, in the ears of the people, and it hath been found written in it that an Ammonite and Moabite doth not come into the assembly of God — unto the age,
Guyyaa sana Kitaabni Musee fuuluma sabaa duratti dubbifame; achi keessattis akka namni Amoon yookaan namni Moʼaab tokko yoom iyyuu waldaa Waaqaatti dabalamuu hin qabne barreeffamee argame;
2 because they have not come before the sons of Israel with bread and with water, and hire against them Balaam to revile them, and our God turneth the reviling into a blessing.
isaan akka inni saba Israaʼel abaaruuf Balaʼaamin qaxaratan malee midhaanii fi bishaaniin Israaʼeloota hin simanne. Taʼus Waaqni keenya abaarsa sana eebbatti geeddare.
3 And it cometh to pass, at their hearing the law, that they separate all the mixed people from Israel.
Sabnis seera kana dhageenyaan nama sanyii ormaa hunda Israaʼel keessaa kophaatti baase.
4 And before this Eliashib the priest, appointed over chambers of the house of our God, [is] a relation of Tobiah,
Kanaan dura Eliyaashiib lubichi itti gaafatamaa mankuusaalee mana Waaqaa ture. Innis Xoobbiyaa wajjin walitti dhufeenya cimaa qaba ture;
5 and he maketh for him a great chamber, and there they were formerly putting the present, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithe of the corn, the new wine, and the oil — the commanded thing of the Levites, and the singers, and the gatekeepers — and the heave-offering of the priests.
innis kutaa manaa balʼaa isaan duraan kennaa midhaanii, ixaana miʼa mana qulqullummaa, akkasumas kennaa midhaanii, kan daadhii wayinii haaraa fi zayitii Lewwotaaf, faarfattootaa fi eegdota karraatiif ajajame harka kudhan keessaa tokkoo fi buusii lubootaaf kennamu itti kuusan tokko Xoobbiyaadhaaf kennee ture.
6 And during all this I was not in Jerusalem, for in the thirty and second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon did I come unto the king, and at the end of days I have asked of the king,
Ani garuu sababii bara Arxeksis mooticha Baabilon keessa waggaa soddomii lammaffaatti gara mootichaa dhaqee tureef yeroo wanni kun hundi taʼetti Yerusaalem keessa hin turre. Anis yeroo gabaabaa booddee isa irraa eeyyama fudhadhee
7 and I come in to Jerusalem, and understand concerning the evil that Eliashib hath done for Tobiah, to make to him a chamber in the courts of the house of God,
Yerusaalemitti nan deebiʼe. Akka Eliyaashiib oobdii mana Waaqaa keessatti Xoobbiyaadhaaf kutaa tokko kennuun waan hamaa hojjete nan beeke.
8 and it is very displeasing to me, and I cast all the vessels of the house of Tobiah without, out of the chamber,
Anis akka malee aareen miʼa manaa kan Xoobbiyaa hunda kutaa sana keessaa gad nan dadarbadhe.
9 and I speak, and they cleanse the chambers, and I bring back thither the vessels of the house of God with the present and the frankincense.
Ani ergasii akka kutaawwan sun qulqulleeffaman nan ajaje; isaanis ni qulqulleessan; ani immoo miʼa mana Waaqaa, kennaa midhaaniitii fi ixaana wajjin deebisee itti galche.
10 And I know that the portions of the Levites have not been given, and they flee each to his field — the Levites and the singers, doing the work.
Ani akka qoodni Lewwotaaf ramadame sun isaaniif hin kennaminis nan hubadhe; akkasumas akka Lewwonnii fi faarfattoonni tajaajila sanatti itti gaafatamtoota turan hundi gara lafa qotiisaa ofii isaaniitti deebiʼan nan beeke.
11 And I strive with the prefects, and say, 'Wherefore hath the house of God been forsaken?' and I gather them, and set them on their station;
Kanaafuu ani qondaaltota ifadheen, “Manni Waaqaa maaliif dagatama?” jedheen isaan gaafadhe. Ergasiis ani walitti isaan qabee iddoo isaaniitti isaan nan deebise.
12 and all Judah have brought in the tithe of the corn, and of the new wine, and of the oil, to the treasuries.
Yihuudaan hundi midhaan, daadhii wayinii haaraa fi zayitii harka kudhan keessaa tokko fidanii mankuusaaleetti galchan.
13 And I appoint treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and Pedaiah of the Levites; and by their hand [is] Hanan son of Zaccur, son of Mattaniah, for stedfast they have been reckoned, and on them [it is] to give a portion to their brethren.
Anis Shelemiyaa lubicha, Zaadoq barreessichaa fi Lewwicha Phedaayaa jedhamu tokko itti gaafatamtoota mankuusaalee godheen muude; akkasumas sababii isaan amanamoo taʼaniif Haanaan ilma Zakuur, ilma Mataaniyaa sana gargaaraa isaanii nan godhe. Hojiin isaaniis obboloota isaaniitiif nyaata hiruu ture.
14 Be mindful of me, O my God, for this, and do not blot out my kind acts that I have done, for the house of my God, and for its charges.
Yaa Waaqa ko, waan kanaaf jedhii na yaadadhu; hojii gaarii ani mana Waaqa kootii fi tajaajila isaatiif hojjedhes na duraa hin balleessin.
15 In those days I have seen in Judah those treading wine-vats on sabbath, and bringing in the sheaves, and lading on the asses, and also, wine, grapes, and figs, and every burden, yea, they are bringing in to Jerusalem on the sabbath-day, and I testify in the day of their selling provision.
Ani bara sana Yihuudaa keessatti namoota guyyaa Sanbataatiin iddoo wayiniin itti cuunfamutti wayinii dhidhiitanii midhaan fidanii, daadhii wayinii, ija wayinii, ija harbuutii fi feʼiisa gosa biraa hunda wajjin harrootatti feʼan nan arge. Isaanis waan kana hunda guyyaa Sanbataatiin Yerusaalemitti fidan. Kanaafuu ani akka isaan guyyaa sana nyaata hin gurgurre isaan nan seere.
16 And the Tyrians have dwelt in it, bringing in fish, and every ware, and selling on sabbath to the sons of Judah and in Jerusalem.
Namoonni Xiiroos warri Yerusaalem keessa jiraatan qurxummii fi miʼa daldalaa kanneen gosa hundaa itti fidanii guyyaa Sanbataatiin Yerusaalem keessatti warra Yihuudaatti gurguraa turan.
17 And I strive with the freemen of Judah, and say to them, 'What [is] this evil thing that ye are doing, and polluting the sabbath-day?
Ani immoo akkana jedheen namoota Yihuudaa bebeekamoo nan ifadhe; “Wanni hamaan isin guyyaa Sanbataa xureessuudhaan hojjettan kun maal?
18 Thus did not your fathers do? and our God bringeth in on us all this evil, and on this city, and ye are adding fierceness on Israel, to pollute the sabbath.'
Abbootiin keessan iyyuu waanuma kana hojjetanii akkasiin Waaqni badiisa kana hunda nuttii fi magaalaa kanatti fide mitii? Isin amma kunoo Sanbata xureessuudhaan dheekkamsa hammas iyyuu caalu Israaʼelitti fidaa jirtu.”
19 And it cometh to pass, when the gates of Jerusalem have been dark before the sabbath, that I speak, and the doors are shut, and I say, that they do not open them till after the sabbath; and of my servants I have stationed at the gates; there doth not come in a burden on the sabbath-day.
Anis yeroo gaaddisni galgalaa Sanbataan dura karrawwan Yerusaalem irra buʼetti akka balbalawwan cufamanii hamma Sanbanni darbutti hin banamne nan ajaje. Akka feʼiisni tokko illee guyyaa Sanbataatiin ol hin galfamneefis namoota koo tokko tokko karrawwan irra nan dhaabe.
20 And they lodge — the merchants and sellers of all ware — at the outside of Jerusalem, once or twice,
Daldaltoonnii fi gurgurtoonni miʼoota gosa hundaa yeroo tokko yookaan yeroo lama Yerusaalemiin ala bulaniiru.
21 and I testify against them, and say unto them, 'Wherefore are ye lodging over-against the wall? if ye repeat [it], a hand I put forth upon you;' from that time they have not come in on the sabbath.
Ani garuu, “Isin maaliif dallaa jala bultu? Yoo isin itti deebitanii akkas gootan ani humnaan isinitti nan dhufa” jedheen isaan nan seere. Gaafasii jalqabanii isaan lammata guyyaa Sanbataatiin hin dhufne.
22 And I say to the Levites, that they be cleansed, and, coming in, keeping the gates, to sanctify the sabbath-day. Also, this, remember for me, O my God, and have pity on me, according to the abundance of Thy kindness.
Ani akka Lewwonni of qulqulleessanii qulqullummaa guyyaa Sanbataa eeguuf dhaqanii karrawwan eegan nan ajaje. Yaa Waaqa koo waan kanaaf jedhii na yaadadhu; akkuma jaalala kee guddaa sanaattis naa araarami.
23 Also, in those days, I have seen the Jews [who] have settled women of Ashdod, of Ammon, of Moab.
Kana caalaa iyyuu ani bara sana keessa namoota Yihuudaa kanneen dubartoonni Ashdood, kan Amooniitii fi kan Moʼaab fuudhan nan arge.
24 And of their sons, half are speaking Ashdoditish — and are not knowing to speak Jewish — and according to the language of people and people.
Ilmaan isaanii keessaa walakkaan afaan Ashdood yookaan afaan saboota biraa dubbatan malee afaan Yihuudaa dubbachuu hin dandeenye.
25 And I strive with them, and declare them vile, and smite certain of them, and pluck off their hair, and cause them to swear by God, 'Ye do not give your daughters to their sons, nor do ye take of their daughters to your sons, and to yourselves.
Ani isaan ifadheen isaan nan abaare. Ani namoota tokko tokko rukutee rifeensa isaanii irraa nan bubuqqise. Ani akkana jedheen maqaa Waaqaatiin isaan nan kakachiise: “Isin intallan keessan ilmaan isaaniitti heerumsiisuu yookaan intallan isaanii ilmaan keessan fuusisuu yookaan ofii keessaniis fuudhuu hin qabdan.
26 'By these did not Solomon king of Israel sin? and among the many nations there was no king like him, and beloved by his God he was, and God maketh him king over all Israel — even him did the strange women cause to sin.
Solomoon mootichi Israaʼel fuudha akkasiitiin cubbuu hojjete mitii? Saboota baayʼee keessa mootiin akka isaa tokko iyyuu hin turre. Waaqni isa jaallatee Israaʼel hunda irratti mootii isa godhe; taʼus dubartoonni ormaa cubbuu isa hojjechiisan.
27 And to you do we hearken to do all this great evil, to trespass against our God, to settle strange women?'
Nu amma akka isinis dubartoota ormaa fuudhuudhaan waan akka malee hamaa kana hunda hojjettanii Waaqa keenyaaf amanamuu diddan dhagaʼuu qabnaa?”
28 And [one] of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest, [is] son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite, and I cause him to flee from off me.
Ilmaan Yooyaadaa ilma Eliyaashiib lubicha ol aanaa sanaa keessaa tokko dhirsa intala Sanbalaax namicha Hooroon ture. Anis of biraa isa nan ariʼe.
29 Be mindful of them, O my God, for the redeemed of the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
Yaa Waaqa koo ati isaan yaadadhu; isaan lubummaa, kakuu lubummaatii fi Lewwotaa xureessaniiruutii.
30 And I have cleansed them from every stranger, and appoint charges to priests and to Levites, each in his work,
Kanaafuu ani waan alaa dhufe hunda irraa lubootaa fi Lewwota qulqulleessee akka tokkoon tokkoon namaa hojii ofii isaa hojjetuuf hojiitti isaan nan ramade.
31 and for the wood-offering at appointed times, and for first-fruits. Be mindful of me, O my God, for good.
Akkasumas kennaa qoraaniitii fi kennaa mataa midhaanii kan yeroo murtaaʼetti dhiʼeeffamuuf haala nan mijeesse. Yaa Waaqa koo ati arjummaadhaan na yaadadhu.
