Nehemiah 1

1 Words of Nehemiah son of Hachaliah. And it cometh to pass, in the month of Chisleu, the twentieth year, and I have been in Shushan the palace,

௧அகலியாவின் மகனாகிய நெகேமியாவின் செயல்பாடுகள்: இருபதாம் வருடம் கிஸ்லேயு மாதத்தில் நான் சூசான் என்னும் அரண்மனையில் இருக்கும்போது சம்பவித்தது என்னவென்றால்,

2 and come in doth Hanani, one of my brethren, he and men of Judah, and I ask them concerning the Jews, the escaped part that have been left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem;

௨என்னுடைய சகோதரர்களில் ஒருவனாகிய அனானியும், வேறு சில மனிதர்களும் யூதாவிலிருந்து வந்தார்கள்; அவர்களிடத்தில் நான் சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து தப்பின யூதர்களின் செய்தியையும், எருசலேமின் செய்தியையும் விசாரித்தேன்.

3 and they say to me, 'Those left, who have been left of the captivity there in the province, [are] in great evil, and in reproach, and the wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burnt with fire.'

௩அதற்கு அவர்கள்: சிறையிருப்பில் மீதியாக இருக்கிறவர்கள் அந்த தேசத்திலே கொடிய தீங்கையும் நிந்தையையும் அநுபவிக்கிறார்கள்; எருசலேமின் மதில் இடிக்கப்பட்டும், அதின் வாசல்கள் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரிக்கப்பட்டும் கிடக்கிறது என்றார்கள்.

4 And it cometh to pass, at my hearing these words, I have sat down, and I weep and mourn [for] days, and I am fasting and praying before the God of the heavens.

௪இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டபோது நான் உட்கார்ந்து அழுது, சில நாட்களாகத் துக்கப்பட்டு, உபவாசித்து, மன்றாடி, பரலோகத்தின் தேவனை நோக்கி:

5 And I say, 'I beseech thee, O Jehovah, God of the heavens, God, the great and the fearful, keeping the covenant and kindness for those loving Him, and for those keeping His commands,

௫பரலோகத்தின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தா யெகோவாவே, உம்மில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, உம்முடைய கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்கு, உடன்படிக்கையையும் கிருபையையும் காக்கிற மகத்துவமும் பயங்கரமுமான தேவனே,

6 let Thine ear be, I pray Thee, attentive, and Thine eyes open, to hearken unto the prayer of Thy servant, that I am praying before Thee to-day, by day and by night, concerning the sons of Israel Thy servants, and confessing concerning the sins of the sons of Israel, that we have sinned against Thee; yea, I and the house of my father have sinned;

௬உமது அடியார்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்காக இன்று இரவும் பகலும் உமக்கு முன்பாக மன்றாடி, இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களாகிய நாங்கள் உமக்கு விரோதமாகச் செய்த பாவங்களை அறிக்கையிடுகிற அடியேனுடைய ஜெபத்தைக் கேட்கிறதற்கு, உம்முடைய செவிகள் கவனித்தும், உம்முடைய கண்கள் திறந்தும் இருப்பதாக; நானும் என்னுடைய தகப்பன் வீட்டார்களும் பாவம் செய்தோம்.

7 we have acted very corruptly against Thee, and have not kept the commands, and the statutes, and the judgments, that Thou didst command Moses Thy servant.

௭நாங்கள் உமக்கு முன்பாக மிகவும் கெட்டவர்களாக நடந்தோம்; நீர் உம்முடைய ஊழியனாகிய மோசேக்குக் கற்பித்த கற்பனைகளையும், கட்டளைகளையும், நியாயங்களையும் கைக்கொள்ளாமற்போனோம்.

8 'Remember, I pray Thee, the word that Thou didst command Moses Thy servant, saying, Ye — ye trespass — I scatter you among peoples;

௮நீங்கள் கட்டளையை மீறினால், நான் உங்களை தேசங்களுக்குள்ளே சிதறடிப்பேன் என்றும்,

9 and ye have turned back unto Me, and kept My commands, and done them — if your outcast is in the end of the heavens, thence I gather them, and have brought them in unto the place that I have chosen to cause My name to tabernacle there.

௯நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் திரும்பி, என்னுடைய கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு, அவைகளின்படி செய்வீர்களானால், உங்களிலே சிதறுண்டுபோனவர்கள் வானத்தின் கடைசி முனையில் இருந்தாலும், நான் அங்கேயிருந்து அவர்களைச் சேர்த்து, என்னுடைய நாமம் விளங்குவதற்காக நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட இடத்திற்கு அவர்களைக் கொண்டுவருவேன் என்றும் தேவரீர் உம்முடைய ஊழியனாகிய மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட வார்த்தையை நினைத்தருளும்.

10 And they [are] Thy servants, and Thy people, whom Thou hast ransomed by Thy great power, and by Thy strong hand.

௧0தேவரீர் உமது மகா வல்லமையினாலும், உமது பலத்த கரத்தினாலும், மீட்டுக்கொண்ட உமது அடியார்களும் உமது மக்களும் இவர்கள்தானே.

11 'I beseech Thee, O Lord, let, I pray Thee, Thine ear be attentive unto the prayer of Thy servant, and unto the prayer of Thy servants, those delighting to fear Thy Name; and give prosperity, I pray Thee, to Thy servant to-day, and give him for mercies before this man;' and I have been butler to the king.

௧௧ஆண்டவரே, உமது அடியானின் ஜெபத்தையும், உமது நாமத்திற்குப் பயப்படவேண்டும் என்று விரும்புகிற உமது அடியார்களின் ஜெபத்தையும் உமது செவிகள் கவனித்திருப்பதாக; இன்றைக்கு உமது அடியானுக்குக் காரியத்தைக் கைகூடிவரச்செய்து, இந்த மனிதனுக்கு முன்பாக எனக்கு இரக்கம் கிடைக்கச்செய்தருளும் என்று ஜெபம் செய்தேன். நான் ராஜாவிற்குப் பானம் பரிமாறுகிறவனாக இருந்தேன்.
