Matthew 13
1 And in that day Jesus, having gone forth from the house, was sitting by the sea,
Ce même jour, Jésus sortit de la maison et s'assit au bord de la mer
2 and gathered together unto him were many multitudes, so that he having gone into the boat did sit down, and all the multitude on the beach did stand,
et on se rassembla en si grand nombre autour de lui qu'il monta dans une barque et y prit place pour parler de là à toute la multitude restée sur le rivage.
3 and he spake to them many things in similes, saying: 'Lo, the sower went forth to sow,
Il leur dit beaucoup de choses en paraboles: «Voilà que le semeur est sorti pour semer.
4 and in his sowing, some indeed fell by the way, and the fowls did come and devour them,
Il jette sa semence, et des grains sont tombés le long du chemin et les oiseaux sont venus et les ont mangés.»
5 and others fell upon the rocky places, where they had not much earth, and immediately they sprang forth, through not having depth of earth,
«D'autres sont tombés sur un sol pierreux, où il n'y avait pas beaucoup de terre, et ils ont immédiatement poussé, parce que la terre était sans profondeur.
6 and the sun having risen they were scorched, and through not having root, they withered,
Mais le soleil s'est levé et a brûlé la plante qui, n'ayant point de racine, s'est desséchée.»
7 and others fell upon the thorns, and the thorns did come up and choke them,
«D'autres grains sont tombés parmi les épines et les épines ont grandi et les ont étouffés.»
8 and others fell upon the good ground, and were giving fruit, some indeed a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.
«D'autres sont tombés dans la bonne terre et ils ont donné du fruit, tel grain en a produit cent, tel autre soixante, tel autre trente.
9 He who is having ears to hear — let him hear.'
Que celui qui a des oreilles entende!»
10 And the disciples having come near, said to him, 'Wherefore in similes dost thou speak to them?'
Ses disciples s'approchèrent et lui dirent: «Pourquoi leur parles-tu en paraboles?»
11 And he answering said to them that — 'To you it hath been given to know the secrets of the reign of the heavens, and to these it hath not been given,
Il leur répondit: «Parce qu'à vous il est donné de pénétrer les mystères du Royaume des cieux, mais à ceux-là, non point.
12 for whoever hath, it shall be given to him, and he shall have overabundance, and whoever hath not, even that which he hath shall be taken from him.
Car à celui qui a, il sera donné, et il sera dans l’abondance; mais à celui qui n'a pas, même ce qu'il a lui sera ôté.
13 'Because of this, in similes do I speak to them, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor understand,
C'est pour cela que je leur parle en paraboles, c'est parce que tout en voyant, ils ne voient point; tout en entendant, ils n'entendent ni ne comprennent.
14 and fulfilled on them is the prophecy of Isaiah, that saith, With hearing ye shall hear, and ye shall not understand, and seeing ye shall see, and ye shall not perceive,
En eux s'accomplit la prophétie d'Ésaïe, qui dit: «De vos oreilles vous entendrez et vous ne comprendrez point; De vos yeux vous regarderez et vous ne verrez point;
15 for made gross was the heart of this people, and with the ears they heard heavily, and their eyes they did close, lest they might see with the eyes, and with the ears might hear, and with the heart understand, and turn back, and I might heal them.
Car le coeur de ce peuple s'est épaissi, Leurs oreilles sont devenues sourdes Et leurs yeux se sont fermés, De peur que leurs yeux ne voient, De peur que leurs oreilles n'entendent, De peur que leur coeur ne comprenne, De peur qu'ils ne se convertissent, De peur que je ne les guérisse.
16 'And happy are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear,
«Heureux vos yeux, à vous, parce qu’ils voient; heureuses vos oreilles, parce qu'elles entendent!
17 for verily I say to you, that many prophets and righteous men did desire to see that which ye look on, and they did not see, and to hear that which ye hear, and they did not hear.
car, je vous le dis en vérité, nombre de prophètes et de justes ont désiré voir ce que vous voyez et ne l'ont pas vu, entendre ce que vous entendez et ne l'ont pas entendu.»
18 'Ye, therefore, hear ye the simile of the sower:
«Pour vous donc, écoutez le sens de la parabole du semeur:
19 Every one hearing the word of the reign, and not understanding — the evil one doth come, and doth catch that which hath been sown in his heart; this is that sown by the way.
«Chaque fois qu'un homme entend la parole du Royaume et ne s'en pénètre pas, survient le Malin et il enlève ce qui a été semé dans son coeur; voilà celui qui a reçu la semence le long du chemin.»
20 'And that sown on the rocky places, this is he who is hearing the word, and immediately with joy is receiving it,
«Celui qui l'a reçue sur un sol pierreux, c'est l'homme qui entend la parole et qui tout d'abord l'accueille avec joie.
21 and he hath not root in himself, but is temporary, and persecution or tribulation having happened because of the word, immediately he is stumbled.
Mais il n'a pas de racine en lui-même; il n'est que pour un temps; une affliction ou une persécution survenant à cause de la parole, il y trouve aussitôt une occasion de chute.»
22 'And that sown toward the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word, and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, do choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (aiōn g165)
«Celui qui a reçu la semence parmi les épines, c'est l'homme qui écoute la parole, mais les sollicitudes de ce monde et la séduction de la richesse étouffent la parole et la rendent stérile. » (aiōn g165)
23 'And that sown on the good ground: this is he who is hearing the word, and is understanding, who indeed doth bear fruit, and doth make, some indeed a hundredfold, and some sixty, and some thirty.'
«Celui qui a reçu la semence dans la bonne terre, c'est l'homme qui écoute la parole et s'en pénètre; celui-là porte des fruits et en donne, tantôt cent, tantôt soixante, tantôt trente.»
24 Another simile he set before them, saying: 'The reign of the heavens was likened to a man sowing good seed in his field,
Il leur proposa une autre parabole. «Voici, dit-il, une similitude du Royaume des cieux: Un homme avait semé du bon grain dans son champ;
25 and, while men are sleeping, his enemy came and sowed darnel in the midst of the wheat, and went away,
mais pendant que ses gens dormaient, son ennemi vint semer de l'ivraie au milieu du froment et s'en alla.»
26 and when the herb sprang up, and yielded fruit, then appeared also the darnel.
«Lorsque l'herbe poussa et porta du fruit, on vit paraître l'ivraie.»
27 'And the servants of the householder, having come near, said to him, Sir, good seed didst thou not sow in thy field? whence then hath it the darnel?
«Les serviteurs s'adressèrent au maître de la maison; ils lui dirent: «Seigneur, n'est-ce pas du bon grain que tu as semé dans ton champ? D'où provient donc l’ivraie?»
28 And he saith to them, A man, an enemy, did this; and the servants said to him, Wilt thou, then, [that] having gone away we may gather it up?
Il leur répondit: «C'est un ennemi qui a fait cela.» Ils lui dirent alors: «Veux-tu que nous allions l'arracher?» —
29 'And he said, No, lest — gathering up the darnel — ye root up with it the wheat,
«Non, répondit-il, de peur qu'en arrachant l'ivraie, vous ne déraciniez en même temps le froment.
30 suffer both to grow together till the harvest, and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather up first the darnel, and bind it in bundles, to burn it, and the wheat gather up into my storehouse.'
Laissez-les croître l'un et l'autre jusqu'à la moisson; au temps de la moisson, je dirai aux moissonneurs: arrachez d'abord l'ivraie et liez-la en gerbes pour la brûler; quant au froment, vous le recueillerez dans mon grenier.»
31 Another simile he set before them, saying: 'The reign of the heavens is like to a grain of mustard, which a man having taken, did sow in his field,
Il leur proposa une autre parabole: «Le Royaume des cieux est semblable à un grain de sénevé qu'un homme prend et sème dans son champ.
32 which less, indeed, is than all the seeds, but when it may be grown, is greatest of the herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the heaven do come and rest in its branches.'
C'est bien la plus petite de toutes les semences, et quand il a pris sa croissance, il est plus grand que les plantes potagères; il devient un arbre, tellement que les oiseaux du ciel viennent faire leurs nids dans ses branches.»
33 Another simile spake he to them: 'The reign of the heavens is like to leaven, which a woman having taken, hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.'
Il leur raconta une autre parabole: «Le Royaume des cieux est semblable à du levain qu'une femme prend et qu'elle cache dans trois mesures de farine jusqu'à ce que le levain ait partout pénétré.»
34 All these things spake Jesus in similes to the multitudes, and without a simile he was not speaking to them,
Toutes ces choses, Jésus les dit en paraboles aux multitudes; il ne leur parlait qu'en paraboles
35 that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying, 'I will open in similes my mouth, I will utter things having been hidden from the foundation of the world.'
(afin que fût accomplie la parole du prophète: «J'ouvrirai ma bouche pour parler en paraboles; Je révélerai des choses restées cachées depuis la création.»)
36 Then having let away the multitudes, Jesus came to the house, and his disciples came near to him, saying, 'Explain to us the simile of the darnel of the field.'
Lorsqu'il eut congédié la foule et fut rentré dans la maison, ses disciples vinrent le trouver et lui dirent: «Explique-nous la parabole de l'ivraie dans le champ.»
37 And he answering said to them, 'He who is sowing the good seed is the Son of Man,
Il leur répondit: «Celui qui sème le bon grain, c'est le Fils de l'homme.»
38 and the field is the world, and the good seed, these are the sons of the reign, and the darnel are the sons of the evil one,
le champ, c'est le monde; la bonne semence, ce sont les fils du royaume; l'ivraie, ce sont les fils du malin;
39 and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is a full end of the age, and the reapers are messengers. (aiōn g165)
l'ennemi qui l'a semée, c'est le diable: la moisson, c'est la fin du monde; les moissonneurs, ce sont les anges. (aiōn g165)
40 'As, then, the darnel is gathered up, and is burned with fire, so shall it be in the full end of this age, (aiōn g165)
Comme donc on arrache l'ivraie et qu'on la brûle au feu, ainsi en sera-t-il à la fin du monde. (aiōn g165)
41 the Son of Man shall send forth his messengers, and they shall gather up out of his kingdom all the stumbling-blocks, and those doing the unlawlessness,
Le Fils de l'homme enverra ses anges arracher de son royaume tous les scandales et ceux qui commettent l'iniquité,
42 and shall cast them to the furnace of the fire; there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.
et ils les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente: c'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.
43 'Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the reign of their Father. He who is having ears to hear — let him hear.
Alors les justes resplendiront comme le soleil dans le royaume de leur Père. Que celui qui a des oreilles pour entendre, entende.»
44 'Again, the reign of the heavens is like to treasure hid in the field, which a man having found did hide, and from his joy goeth, and all, as much as he hath, he selleth, and buyeth that field.
«Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un trésor caché dans un champ: un homme l'ayant découvert, l'y cache de nouveau, et, dans sa joie, il s'en va, vend tout ce qu'il a, et il achète le champ.»
45 'Again, the reign of the heavens is like to a man, a merchant, seeking goodly pearls,
«Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un marchand qui cherche de belles perles.
46 who having found one pearl of great price, having gone away, hath sold all, as much as he had, and bought it.
En ayant trouvé une de grand prix, il alla vendre tout ce qu'il avait, et il l’acheta.»
47 'Again, the reign of the heavens is like to a net that was cast into the sea, and did gather together of every kind,
Le royaume des cieux est encore semblable à un filet qu'on a jeté dans la mer, et qui ramasse toutes sortes de poissons.
48 which, when it was filled, having drawn up again upon the beach, and having sat down, they gathered the good into vessels, and the bad they did cast out,
Quand il est plein, les pécheurs le tirent sur la grève, puis ils s'asseyent, mettent ce qu'il y a de bon dans leurs vaisseaux, et jettent le mauvais.
49 so shall it be in the full end of the age, the messengers shall come forth and separate the evil out of the midst of the righteous, (aiōn g165)
Il en sera de même à la fin du monde: les anges viendront séparer les méchants d'avec les justes, (aiōn g165)
50 and shall cast them to the furnace of the fire, there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of the teeth.'
et les jetteront dans la fournaise ardente. C'est là qu'il y aura des pleurs et des grincements de dents.»
51 Jesus saith to them, 'Did ye understand all these?' They say to him, 'Yes, sir.'
«Avez-vous compris toutes ces choses?» — «Oui, » lui dirent-ils.
52 And he said to them, 'Because of this every scribe having been discipled in regard to the reign of the heavens, is like to a man, a householder, who doth bring forth out of his treasure things new and old.'
Et Jésus ajouta: «Voilà pourquoi tout scribe versé dans ce qui regarde le royaume des cieux, ressemble à un père de famille qui tire de son trésor des nouveautés et des antiques.»
53 And it came to pass, when Jesus finished these similes, he removed thence,
- Quand Jésus eut achevé ces paraboles, il quitta ces lieux,
54 and having come to his own country, he was teaching them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and were saying, 'Whence to this one this wisdom and the mighty works?
et s'étant rendu dans sa patrie, il enseignait ses concitoyens dans leur synagogue, de sorte qu'ils étaient frappés d'étonnement, et disaient: «D'où lui viennent cette sagesse et ces miracles?»
55 is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary, and his brethren James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
N'est-ce pas le fils du charpentier? Sa mère ne s'appelle-t-elle pas Marie, et ses frères, Jacques, Joseph, Simon et Jude?
56 and his sisters — are they not all with us? whence, then, to this one all these?'
Et ses soeurs ne sont-elles pas toutes avec nous? D'où lui viennent donc cette sagesse et cette puissance?
57 and they were stumbled at him. And Jesus said to them, 'A prophet is not without honour except in his own country, and in his own house:'
Et il était pour eux une pierre d'achoppement. Mais Jésus leur dit: «Ce n'est que dans son pays et dans sa maison qu'un prophète n'est pas honoré.»
58 and he did not there many mighty works, because of their unbelief.
Et il ne fit pas beaucoup de miracles dans ce lieu à cause de leur incrédulité.
