Matthew 10
1 And having called to him his twelve disciples, he gave to them power over unclean spirits, so as to be casting them out, and to be healing every sickness, and every malady.
Llamó a sus doce discípulos y les dio autoridad sobre los espíritus inmundos, para expulsarlos y para sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia.
2 And of the twelve apostles the names are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Los nombres de los doce apóstoles son estos El primero, Simón, llamado Pedro; Andrés, su hermano; Santiago, hijo de Zebedeo; Juan, su hermano;
3 Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax-gatherer; James of Alpheus, and Lebbeus who was surnamed Thaddeus;
Felipe; Bartolomé; Tomás; Mateo, el recaudador de impuestos; Santiago, hijo de Alfeo; Lebeo, que también se llamaba Tadeo;
4 Simon the Cananite, and Judas Iscariot, who did also deliver him up.
Simón el Zelote; y Judas Iscariote, que también lo traicionó.
5 These twelve did Jesus send forth, having given command to them, saying, 'To the way of the nations go not away, and into a city of the Samaritans go not in,
Jesús envió a estos doce y les ordenó: “No vayáis entre los gentiles, ni entréis en ninguna ciudad de los samaritanos.
6 and be going rather unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Id más bien a las ovejas perdidas de la casa de Israel.
7 'And, going on, proclaim saying that, the reign of the heavens hath come nigh;
Mientras vais, predicad diciendo: “El Reino de los Cielos está cerca”
8 infirm ones be healing, lepers be cleansing, dead be raising, demons be casting out — freely ye did receive, freely give.
Curad a los enfermos, limpiad a los leprosos y expulsad a los demonios. Si habéis recibido gratuitamente, dad gratuitamente.
9 'Provide not gold, nor silver, nor brass in your girdles,
No llevéis oro, ni plata, ni latón en vuestros cinturones.
10 nor scrip for the way, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staff — for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.
No llevéis bolsa para vuestro viaje, ni dos túnicas, ni sandalias, ni bastón; porque el trabajador es digno de su alimento.
11 'And into whatever city or village ye may enter, inquire ye who in it is worthy, and there abide, till ye may go forth.
En cualquier ciudad o aldea en que entréis, averiguad quién es digno en ella, y quedaos allí hasta que sigáis.
12 And coming to the house salute it,
Cuando entres en la casa, salúdala.
13 and if indeed the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it; and if it be not worthy, let your peace turn back to you.
Si la casa es digna, que vuestra paz llegue a ella, pero si no es digna, que vuestra paz vuelva a vosotros.
14 'And whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet,
El que no os reciba ni escuche vuestras palabras, al salir de esa casa o de esa ciudad, sacude el polvo de vuestros pies.
15 verily I say to you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.
De cierto os digo que será más tolerable para la tierra de Sodoma y Gomorra en el día del juicio que para esa ciudad.
16 'Lo, I do send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be ye therefore wise as the serpents, and simple as the doves.
“He aquí que os envío como ovejas en medio de lobos. Por tanto, sed prudentes como serpientes y sencillos como palomas.
17 And, take ye heed of men, for they will give you up to sanhedrims, and in their synagogues they will scourge you,
Pero tened cuidado con los hombres, porque os entregarán a los concilios, y en sus sinagogas os azotarán.
18 and before governors and kings ye shall be brought for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.
Sí, y seréis llevados ante gobernadores y reyes por causa de mí, para testimonio a ellos y a las naciones.
19 'And whenever they may deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye may speak, for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak;
Pero cuando os entreguen, no os preocupéis por cómo o qué vais a decir, porque se os dará en esa hora lo que vais a decir.
20 for ye are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father that is speaking in you.
Porque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu de vuestro Padre que habla en vosotros.
21 'And brother shall deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children shall rise up against parents, and shall put them to death,
“El hermano entregará al hermano a la muerte, y el padre a su hijo. Los hijos se levantarán contra los padres y los harán morir.
22 and ye shall be hated by all because of my name, but he who hath endured to the end, he shall be saved.
Seréis odiados por todos los hombres por causa de mi nombre, pero el que aguante hasta el final se salvará.
23 'And whenever they may persecute you in this city, flee to the other, for verily I say to you, ye may not have completed the cities of Israel till the Son of Man may come.
Pero cuando os persigan en esta ciudad, huid a la siguiente, porque de cierto os digo que no habréis pasado por las ciudades de Israel hasta que venga el Hijo del Hombre.
24 'A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his lord;
“El discípulo no está por encima de su maestro, ni el siervo por encima de su señor.
25 sufficient to the disciple that he may be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord; if the master of the house they did call Beelzeboul, how much more those of his household?
Al discípulo le basta con ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su señor. Si han llamado Beelzebul al dueño de la casa, ¡cuánto más a los de su casa!
26 'Ye may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed, and hid, that shall not be known;
Por lo tanto, no tengáis miedo de ellos, porque no hay nada encubierto que no se revele, ni oculto que no se sepa.
27 that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the house-tops.
Lo que os diga en la oscuridad, habladlo en la luz; y lo que oigáis susurrar al oído, proclamadlo en los tejados.
28 'And be not afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but fear rather Him who is able both soul and body to destroy in gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
No temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, pero no pueden matar el alma. Temed más bien a aquel que es capaz de destruir tanto el alma como el cuerpo en la Gehena. (Geenna g1067)
29 'Are not two sparrows sold for an assar? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father;
“¿No se venden dos gorriones por una moneda de asarion? Ni uno solo de ellos cae al suelo si no es por la voluntad de tu Padre.
30 and of you — even the hairs of the head are all numbered;
Pero los cabellos de vuestra cabeza están todos contados.
31 be not therefore afraid, than many sparrows ye are better.
Por eso, no tengáis miedo. Vosotros tenéis más valor que muchos gorriones.
32 'Every one, therefore, who shall confess in me before men, I also will confess in him before my Father who is in the heavens;
Por eso, todo el que me confiese ante los hombres, yo también lo confesaré ante mi Padre que está en los cielos.
33 and whoever shall deny me before men, I also will deny him before my Father who is in the heavens.
Pero el que me niegue ante los hombres, yo también lo negaré ante mi Padre que está en los cielos.
34 'Ye may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword;
“No penséis que he venido a traer la paz a la tierra. No he venido a traer la paz, sino la espada.
35 for I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
Porque he venido a enfrentar al hombre con su padre, a la hija con su madre y a la nuera con su suegra.
36 and the enemies of a man are those of his household.
Los enemigos del hombre serán los de su propia casa.
37 'He who is loving father or mother above me, is not worthy of me, and he who is loving son or daughter above me, is not worthy of me,
El que ama al padre o a la madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; y el que ama al hijo o a la hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí.
38 and whoever doth not receive his cross and follow after me, is not worthy of me.
El que no toma su cruz y sigue en pos de mí, no es digno de mí.
39 'He who found his life shall lose it, and he who lost his life for my sake shall find it.
El que busca su vida, la perderá; y el que pierde su vida por mí, la encontrará.
40 'He who is receiving you doth receive me, and he who is receiving me doth receive Him who sent me,
“El que os recibe a vosotros me recibe a mí, y el que me recibe a mí recibe al que me ha enviado.
41 he who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophet's reward, and he who is receiving a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous man's reward,
El que recibe a un profeta en nombre de un profeta, recibirá la recompensa de un profeta. El que recibe a un justo en nombre de un justo, recibirá la recompensa de un justo.
42 and whoever may give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say to you, he may not lose his reward.'
El que dé de beber a uno de estos pequeños un vaso de agua fría en nombre de un discípulo, de cierto os digo que no perderá su recompensa.”
