Leviticus 21
1 And Jehovah saith unto Moses, 'Speak unto the priests, sons of Aaron, and thou hast said unto them, For [any] person [a priest] is not defiled among his people,
Og Herren sa til Moses: Tal til prestene, Arons sønner, og si til dem: En prest skal ikke gjøre sig uren blandt sitt folk ved å røre et lik,
2 except for his relation who [is] near unto him — for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother.
undtagen det er hans nærmeste slekt, hans mor, hans far, hans sønn, hans datter, hans bror
3 and for his sister, the virgin, who is near unto him, who hath not been to a man; for her he is defiled.
eller hans ugifte søster, som ennu hører til ætten og ikke er blitt nogen manns hustru; ved henne kan han gjøre sig uren.
4 'A master [priest] doth not defile himself among his people — to pollute himself;
Han skal ikke gjøre sig uren som ektemann, så han vanhelliger sig blandt sitt folk.
5 they do not make baldness on their head, and the corner of their beard they do not shave, and in their flesh they do not make a cutting;
De skal ikke rake sig skallet på nogen del av sitt hode og ikke klippe sitt skjegg kort og ikke skjære i sitt kjøtt.
6 they are holy to their God, and they pollute not the name of their God, for the fire-offerings of Jehovah, bread of their God, they are bringing near, and have been holy.
De skal være hellige for sin Gud og ikke vanhellige sin Guds navn; for de bærer frem Herrens ildoffer, sin Guds mat, derfor skal de være hellige.
7 'A woman, a harlot, or polluted, they do not take, and a woman cast out from her husband they do not take, for he [is] holy to his God;
En skjøge eller en kvinne som er vanæret, skal de ikke ta til ekte, og heller ikke en kvinne som hennes mann har skilt sig fra; for presten er hellig for sin Gud.
8 and thou hast sanctified him, for the bread of thy God he is bringing near; he is holy to thee; for holy [am] I, Jehovah, sanctifying you.
Og du skal holde ham hellig, for han bærer frem din Guds mat; han skal være hellig for dig, for jeg, Herren, som helliger eder, er hellig.
9 'And a daughter of any priest when she polluteth herself by going a-whoring — her father she is polluting; with fire she is burnt.
Og dersom en prests datter vanhelliger sig ved å drive hor, så vanhelliger hun sin far; hun skal brennes med ild.
10 'And the high priest of his brethren, on whose head is poured the anointing oil, and hath consecrated his hand to put on the garments, his head doth not uncover, nor rend his garments,
Den som er yppersteprest blandt sine brødre, han på hvis hode salvings-oljen er utøst, og som er innvidd og har iklædd sig de hellige klær, han skal ikke rake sitt hode og ikke sønderrive sine klær.
11 nor beside any dead person doth he come; for his father and for his mother he doth not defile himself;
Han skal ikke gå inn til noget lik; ikke engang ved sin far eller sin mor skal han føre urenhet over sig.
12 nor from the sanctuary doth he go out, nor doth he pollute the sanctuary of his God, for the separation of the anointing oil of his God [is] on him; I [am] Jehovah.
Han skal ikke gå ut av helligdommen for ikke å vanhellige sin Guds helligdom; for innvielsen han fikk ved sin Guds salvings-olje, er over ham; jeg er Herren.
13 'And he taketh a wife in her virginity;
Til hustru skal han ta en ren jomfru;
14 widow, or cast out, or polluted one — a harlot — these he doth not take, but a virgin of his own people he doth take [for] a wife,
en enke eller en fraskilt eller en vanæret kvinne eller en skjøge - nogen sådan må han ikke gifte sig med; bare en jomfru av sitt folk skal han ta til hustru.
15 and he doth not pollute his seed among his people; for I [am] Jehovah, sanctifying him.'
Han skal ikke vanhellige sin ætt blandt sitt folk; for jeg er Herren, som helliger ham.
16 And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,
Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:
17 'Speak unto Aaron, saying, No man of thy seed to their generations in whom there is blemish doth draw near to bring near the bread of his God,
Tal til Aron og si: Ingen av din ætt, enten nu eller i kommende tider, som har noget lyte, skal trede nær for å bære frem sin Guds mat.
18 for no man in whom [is] blemish doth draw near — a man blind, or lame or dwarfed, or enlarged,
Ingen som har noget lyte, skal trede nær, ingen som er blind eller halt eller har noget ansiktslyte eller et lem som er for stort,
19 or a man in whom there is a breach in the foot, or a breach in the hand,
ingen som har brukket fot eller hånd,
20 or hump-backed, or a dwarf, or with a mixture in his eye, or a scurvy person, or scabbed, or broken-testicled.
eller som er pukkelrygget eller dverg eller har en hvit flekk på øiet eller har skabb eller noget annet utslett, eller hvis stener er knust.
21 'No man in whom is blemish (of the seed of Aaron the priest) doth come nigh to bring near the fire-offerings of Jehovah; blemish [is] in him; the bread of his God he doth not come nigh to bring near.
Ingen av Arons, prestens, ætt, som har noget lyte, skal trede nær for å bære frem Herrens ildoffer; han har et lyte, han skal ikke trede nær for å bære frem sin Guds mat.
22 'Bread of his God — of the most holy things, and of the holy things — he doth eat;
Sin Guds mat kan han nok ete, både av de høihellige og av de hellige gaver;
23 only, unto the vail he doth not enter, and unto the altar he doth not draw nigh; for blemish [is] in him; and he doth not pollute My sanctuaries; for I [am] Jehovah, sanctifying them.'
men han må ikke gå frem til forhenget og ikke trede nær til alteret, fordi han har et lyte; han skal ikke vanhellige mine helligdommer, for jeg er Herren, som helliger dem.
24 And Moses speaketh unto Aaron, and unto his sons, and unto all the sons of Israel.
Og Moses sa dette til Aron og hans sønner og til alle Israels barn.
