< Lamentations 4 >
1 How is the gold become dim, Changed the best — the pure gold? Poured out are stones of the sanctuary At the head of all out-places.
Hĩ! Kaĩ thahabu ĩyo nĩĩthirĩte ũkengu wayo-ĩ, thahabu ĩrĩa therie kaĩ ĩrĩ gũthita-ĩ! Tũhiga twa goro tũrĩa twamũre nĩtũhurunjĩtwo magomano-inĩ ma njĩra ciothe.
2 The precious sons of Zion, Who are comparable with fine gold, How have they been reckoned earthen bottles, Work of the hands of a potter.
Ariũ a Zayuni arĩa me bata, arĩa rĩmwe mangĩaringithanirio na thogora wa thahabu, kaĩ rĩu moonagwo ta nyũngũ cia rĩũmba-ĩ, o ta wĩra wa moko ma mũũmbi!
3 Even dragons have drawn out the breast, They have suckled their young ones, The daughter of my people is become cruel, Like the ostriches in a wilderness.
O na mbwe nĩciongithagia ciana ciacio, no andũ akwa matuĩkĩte andũ matarĩ tha, o ta nyaga cia werũ-inĩ.
4 Cleaved hath the tongue of a suckling unto his palate with thirst, Infants asked bread, a dealer out they have none.
Rũrĩmĩ rwa gakenge rũnyiitanĩte na karakara nĩ ũndũ wa kũnyoota; twana tũhooyaga irio, no gũtirĩ mũndũ ũtũheaga.
5 Those eating of dainties have been desolate in out-places, Those supported on scarlet have embraced dunghills.
Andũ arĩa rĩmwe maarĩĩaga irio njega, rĩu maikaraga njĩra-inĩ mekonotete, arĩa maarerirwo makĩhumbagwo nguo cia rangi wa ndathi-rĩ, rĩu makomaga ciara-inĩ cia mũhu.
6 And greater is the iniquity of the daughter of my people, Than the sin of Sodom, That was overturned as [in] a moment, And no hands were stayed on her.
Iherithia rĩa andũ akwa nĩ inene gũkĩra rĩa itũũra rĩa Sodomu, rĩrĩa rĩangʼaũranirio o rĩmwe, gũtarĩ guoko kwarĩteithirie.
7 Purer were her Nazarites than snow, Whiter than milk, ruddier of body than rubies, Of sapphire their form.
Anene akuo maatherete gũkĩra tharunji, na makeerũha gũkĩra iria, maarĩ atune mĩĩrĩ gũkĩra ruru ĩrĩa ndune, magakĩhaana ta kahiga ka goro karĩa getagwo yakuti.
8 Darker than blackness hath been their visage, They have not been known in out-places, Cleaved hath their skin unto their bone, It hath withered — it hath been as wood.
No rĩu mairĩte o na gũkĩra mbiro; matikũũrĩkanaga marĩ njĩra-inĩ. Ikonde cia mĩĩrĩ yao ciũmanĩrĩire na mahĩndĩ; ciumĩte o ta rũthanju.
9 Better have been the pierced of a sword Than the pierced of famine, For these flow away, pierced through, Without the increase of the field.
Kaba arĩa mooragagwo na rũhiũ rwa njora, kũrĩ arĩa makuuaga nĩ ngʼaragu; matooragio nĩkũhũũta, makamoca nĩ ũndũ wa kwaga irio cia kuuma mũgũnda.
10 The hands of merciful women have boiled their own children, They have been for food to them, In the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Moko ma andũ-a-nja arĩa marĩ tha nĩmarugire ciana ciao ene, igĩtuĩka irio ciao hĩndĩ ĩyo andũ akwa manangirwo.
11 Completed hath Jehovah His fury, He hath poured out the fierceness of His anger, And he kindleth a fire in Zion, And it devoureth her foundations.
Jehova nĩarekereirie mangʼũrĩ make biũ; aitũrũrĩte marakara make mahiũ. Nĩakĩtie mwaki kũu Zayuni ũrĩa ũcinĩte mĩthingi yakuo.
12 Believe not did the kings of earth, And any of the inhabitants of the world, That come would an adversary and enemy Into the gates of Jerusalem.
Athamaki a thĩ matingĩetĩkirie, o na kana kĩrĩndĩ o na kĩmwe gĩa gũkũ thĩ, atĩ thũ na amuku nĩmangĩahotire gũtoonya ihingo cia Jerusalemu.
13 Because of the sins of her prophets, The iniquities of her priests, Who are shedding in her midst the blood of the righteous,
No ũndũ ũcio wekĩkire nĩ ũndũ wa mehia ma anabii akuo, na mawaganu ma athĩnjĩri-Ngai akuo arĩa manaita thakame ya andũ arĩa athingu kũu thĩinĩ.
14 They have wandered naked in out-places, They have been polluted with blood, Without [any] being able to touch their clothing,
Rĩu maturuuraga njĩra-inĩ ta andũ atumumu. Mathaahĩtio nĩ thakame ũũ atĩ gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũmwe ũngĩgeria kũhutia nguo ciao.
15 'Turn aside — unclean,' they called to them, 'Turn aside, turn aside, touch not,' For they fled — yea, they have wandered, They have said among nations: 'They do not add to sojourn.'
Andũ mamakayagĩrĩria, makoiga atĩrĩ, “Thiĩi nakũu! Mũrĩ na thaahu! Thiĩi! Thiĩi! Mũtigatũhutie!” Ningĩ moora na maatuĩka orũũri, makeerwo atĩrĩ kũu ndũrĩrĩ-inĩ, “Matingĩikara gũkũ rĩngĩ.”
16 The face of Jehovah hath divided them, He doth not add to behold them, The face of priests they have not lifted up, Elders they have not favoured.
Jehova we mwene nĩwe ũmahurunjĩte; nĩatigĩte kũmarũmbũiya. Athĩnjĩri-Ngai matiheagwo gĩtĩĩo, o na makarega gũtuga athuuri.
17 While we exist — consumed are our eyes for our vain help, In our watch-tower we have watched for a nation [that] saveth not.
Makĩria ma ũguo-rĩ, maitho maitũ nĩmathirire hinya, o tũcũthĩrĩirie ũteithio ũrĩa tũtoonire; kuuma mĩthiringo iitũ ĩrĩa mĩraihu-rĩ, twetereire rũrĩrĩ rũtangĩahotire gũtũhonokia.
18 They have hunted our steps from going in our broad-places, Near hath been our end, fulfilled our days, For come hath our end.
Andũ maatũcemaga ikinya gwa ikinya, nĩ ũndũ ũcio tũtingĩathiĩrĩire njĩra-inĩ ciitũ. Ithirĩro riitũ rĩgĩkuhĩrĩria, namo matukũ maitũ maarĩ matare, nĩgũkorwo ithirĩro riitũ nĩrĩakinyĩte.
19 Swifter have been our pursuers, Than the eagles of the heavens, On the mountains they have burned [after] us, In the wilderness they have laid wait for us.
Andũ arĩa matũingatithĩtie-rĩ, maarĩ na ihenya gũkĩra nderi irĩ rĩera-inĩ; maatũhanyũkagĩria irĩma-inĩ, na magatuoheria werũ-inĩ.
20 The breath of our nostrils — the anointed of Jehovah, Hath been captured in their pits, of whom we said: 'In his shadow we do live among nations.'
Mũndũ ũrĩa mũitĩrĩrie maguta nĩ Jehova, o we ũrĩa warĩ ta mĩhũmũ iitũ-rĩ, nĩagwatirio nĩ mĩtego yao. Tweciiragia atĩ tũrĩ kĩĩruru-inĩ gĩake-rĩ, no tũtũũre gatagatĩ ka ndũrĩrĩ.
21 Joy and rejoice, O daughter of Edom, Dwelling in the land of Uz, Even unto thee pass over doth a cup, Thou art drunk, and makest thyself naked.
Kena na ũcanjamũke, wee Mwarĩ wa Edomu, o wee ũtũũraga bũrũri wa Uzu. No rĩrĩ, o nawe gĩkombe gĩkĩ nĩgĩgagũkora; ũgaakĩnyuĩra ũrĩĩo, na ũrutwo nguo, ũtigwo njaga.
22 Completed [is] thy iniquity, daughter of Zion, He doth not add to remove thee, He hath inspected thy iniquity, O daughter of Edom, He hath removed [thee] because of thy sins!
Wee Mwarĩ wa Zayuni-rĩ, iherithia rĩaku nĩrĩgathira; ndakoongerera ihinda rĩaku rĩa gũikara ũrĩ mũtahe. No wee, Mwarĩ wa Edomu-rĩ, nĩagakũherithĩria mehia maku na aguũrie waganu waku.
