< Lamentations 3 >

1 I [am] the man [who] hath seen affliction By the rod of His wrath.

2 Me He hath led, and causeth to go [in] darkness, and without light.

3 Surely against me He turneth back, He turneth His hand all the day.

4 He hath worn out my flesh and my skin. He hath broken my bones.

5 He hath built up against me, And setteth round poverty and weariness.
Kai tuk hanah misatuh kaminawk to pakhueng moe, kakhaa hoi karai hmuen hoiah ang takui khoep.
6 In dark places He hath caused me to dwell, As the dead of old.
Canghnii ah kadueh kami baktiah, khoving thungah ang suek.
7 He hath hedged me about, and I go not out, He hath made heavy my fetter.
Sipae hoi ang takui khoep pongah, ka loih thai ai; kazit sumqui hoiah ang pathlet.
8 Also when I call and cry out, He hath shut out my prayer.
Ka hangh moe, lawk ka thuih naah doeh, lawk ka thuihaih to ang pakaa pae ving.
9 He hath hedged my ways with hewn work, My paths He hath made crooked.
Ka caehhaih loklam to thlung hoiah ang pakaa pae khoep moe, kang koih loklam to ang pazuisak.
10 A bear lying in wait He [is] to me, A lion in secret hiding-places.
Anih loe kai hanah, moi angang taqom baktih, amtueng ai ahmuen ah kaom kaipui baktiah oh.
11 My ways He is turning aside, and He pulleth me in pieces, He hath made me a desolation.

12 He hath trodden His bow, And setteth me up as a mark for an arrow.
Anih mah kalii anueng moe, kai to palaa kahhaih ahmuen ah ang suek.
13 He hath caused to enter into my reins The sons of His quiver.
Kalii tabu thung ih anih ih palaanawk mah ka kaeng ah cop.
14 I have been a derision to all my people, Their song all the day.
Kai loe kaimah ih kaminawk mah pahnui thuih han ih ni ka oh sut boeh; ni thokkruek laasak thuih hanah ka oh.
15 He hath filled me with bitter things, He hath filled me [with] wormwood.
Anih mah kakhaa tui hoiah ang bawh moe, kakhaa ahmuet hoiah ang paquisak.
16 And He breaketh with gravel my teeth, He hath covered me with ashes.
Anih mah thlung hoiah ka ha angkhaehsak moe, maiphu hoiah ang phumh.
17 And Thou castest off from peace my soul, I have forgotten prosperity.
Monghaih hoi kangthla ah ka hinghaih pakhra na suek ving boeh pongah, khosak hoihaih to ka pahnet boeh.
18 And I say, Perished hath my strength and my hope from Jehovah.
To pongah Angraeng khae ih thacakhaih hoi oephaih to om ai boeh, tiah ka thuih.
19 Remember my affliction and my mourning, Wormwood and gall!
Patangkhanghaih hoi raihaih, kakhaa tui hoi kakhaa ahmuet doeh ka pahnet ai vop.
20 Remember well, and bow down doth my soul in me.

21 This I turn to my heart — therefore I hope.

22 The kindnesses of Jehovah! For we have not been consumed, For not ended have His mercies.

23 New every morning, abundant [is] thy faithfulness.

24 My portion [is] Jehovah, hath my soul said, Therefore I hope for Him.
Angraeng loe kai ih taham ah oh, tiah ka hinghaih pakhra mah thuih pongah, anih to ka zing han.
25 Good [is] Jehovah to those waiting for Him, To the soul [that] seeketh Him.
Angraeng hoihhaih loe anih oephaih tawn kami, hinghaih pakhra hoi anih pakrong kaminawk khaeah oh.
26 Good! when one doth stay and stand still For the salvation of Jehovah.

27 Good for a man that he beareth a yoke in his youth.
Kami loe thendoeng nathuem ah tok karai sak han hoih.
28 He sitteth alone, and is silent, For He hath laid [it] upon him.
Anih nuiah hmuen to amtik boeh pongah, angmabueng anghnut moe, anghngai duem han oh.
29 He putteth in the dust his mouth, if so be there is hope.
Oephaih om tih hmang tiah poek nahaeloe, a mikhmai to maiphu pongah akuep nasoe.
30 He giveth to his smiter the cheek, He is filled with reproach.
Anih tabaeng kami khaeah tangbaeng patueng pae nasoe loe, ahmin sethaih hoiah koi nasoe.
31 For the Lord doth not cast off to the age.
Sithaw mah aicae dungzan khoek to vaa mak ai;
32 For though He afflicted, yet He hath pitied, According to the abundance of His kindness.
anih mah palungsethaih phaksak, toe paroeai pop anih palungnathaih hoi amlunghaih to amtuengsak let tih.
33 For He hath not afflicted with His heart, Nor doth He grieve the sons of men.

34 To bruise under one's feet any bound ones of earth,
Long ah thongkrah kaminawk boih khok hoiah cawh moe,
35 To turn aside the judgment of a man, Over-against the face of the Most High,
sang koek Sithaw hmaa ah kami mah toenghaih baktiah hnuk han koi hmuen lak pae ving pacoengah,
36 To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord hath not approved.
kami mah hnuk han koi hmuen sungsak ving hanah Angraeng mah koeh ai.
37 Who [is] this — he hath said, and it is, [And] the Lord hath not commanded [it]?
Angraeng lokpaekhaih om ai ah, mi mah maw a thuih ih lok baktiah angcoengsak thaih?
38 From the mouth of the Most High Go not forth the evils and the good.
Sang koek Sithaw ih pakha thung hoiah na ai maw kahoih hoi kasae hmuen to angzo hmaek?
39 What — sigh habitually doth a living man, A man for his sin?
Kami mah a zaehaih pongah danpaek naah, tipongah kahing kami loe laisaep khing loe?
40 We search our ways, and investigate, And turn back unto Jehovah.
To tiah oh pongah loe a caeh o haih loklam hae pakrong tanoek si loe, Angraeng khaeah amlaem o let si.
41 We lift up our heart on the hands unto God in the heavens.
Vannawk ranui ah kaom Sithaw khaeah, ban a payangh o moe, lawk a thuih o naah, poekhaih palungthin doeh anih khaeah paek o si.
42 We — we have transgressed and rebelled, Thou — Thou hast not forgiven.
Ka zae o moe, na lok kang aek o moeng boeh; kaicae zaehaih to nang tahmen ai vop.
43 Thou hast covered Thyself with anger, And dost pursue us; Thou hast slain — Thou hast not pitied.
Palung na phuihaih hoiah nang kraeng khoep moe, nang pacaekthlaek boeh; tahmenhaih tawn ai ah, nang hum boeh.
44 Thou hast covered Thyself with a cloud, So that prayer doth not pass through.
Lawk ka thuih o haih nang khaeah phak han ai ah, nangmah hoi nangmah tamai hoi nang yaw khoep boeh.
45 Offscouring and refuse Thou dost make us In the midst of the peoples.
Kaminawk salakah anghnoeng baktih, panuet thok hmuen baktiah nang ohsak boeh.
46 Opened against us their mouth have all our enemies.
Kaicae ih misa boih mah, pakha ang angh o thuih.
47 Fear and a snare hath been for us, Desolation and destruction.
Kaicae nui ah zithaih, amtimhaih, amrohaih hoi anghmat angtaahaih to phak boeh.
48 Rivulets of water go down my eye, For the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Kai kami ih canunawk amro o boeh pongah, ka mik hoiah vapui tui to long.
49 Mine eye is poured out, And doth not cease without intermission,
Ka mikkhraetui loe kang ai ah long tih, anghak mak ai,
50 Till Jehovah looketh and seeth from the heavens,
Angraeng mah hnu ai karoek to van hoiah dan tathuk.
51 My eye affecteth my soul, Because of all the daughters of my city.
Ka vangpui thung ih canunawk boih pongah, ka mik mah palung ang setsak.
52 Hunted me sore as a bird have my enemies without cause.
Takung om ai ah ka misanawk mah tavaa baktiah ang mee o.
53 They have cut off in a pit my life, And they cast a stone against me.
Tangqom thungah ka hinghaih ang boeng o sak moe, ka nuiah thlung ang vah o thuih.
54 Flowed have waters over my head, I have said, I have been cut off.
Tui mah ka lu uem naah, ka duek boeh, tiah ka poek.
55 I called Thy name, O Jehovah, from the lower pit.
Aw Angraeng, tangqom thung hoiah na hmin to kang kawk.
56 My voice Thou hast heard, Hide not Thine ear at my breathing — at my cry.
Ka lok nang thaih pae; ka hamhaih hoi abomhaih kang hnik naah, na naa tamuep ving hmah.
57 Thou hast drawn near in the day I call Thee, Thou hast said, Fear not.
Nang kang kawk naah, kai nang hnai thuih moe, zii hmah, tiah nang naa.
58 Thou hast pleaded, O Lord, the pleadings of my soul, Thou hast redeemed my life.
Aw Angraeng, ka hing thai hanah tok na sak moe, ka hinghaih pakhra to nang pahlong boeh.
59 Thou hast seen, O Jehovah, my overthrow, Judge Thou my cause.
Aw Angraeng, ka sakpazaehaih na hnuk boeh; toenghaih hoiah kai lok na caek ah.
60 Thou hast seen all their vengeance, All their thoughts of me.
Nihcae mah misa ah ang suekhaih hoi a poek o ih hmuen to na hnuk boih boeh.
61 Thou hast heard their reproach, O Jehovah, All their thoughts against me,
Aw Angraeng, nihcae kasaethuihaih hoi poekhaihnawk to na thaih boeh.
62 The lips of my withstanders, Even their meditation against me all the day.
Athun qui kai patoem kaminawk hoi kai misa angthawk thuih kaminawk mah thuih ih lok to na thaih boeh.
63 Their sitting down, and their rising up, Behold attentively, I [am] their song.
Nihcae anghnuthaih hoi angthawkhaih to khenah; kai loe nihcae laasak thuih han ih ni ka oh sut boeh.
64 Thou returnest to them the deed, O Jehovah, According to the work of their hands.
Aw Angraeng, angmacae ban mah sak ih hmuen baktih toengah, nihcae khaeah pathok pae let ah.
65 Thou givest to them a covered heart, Thy curse to them.
Nihcae han qahhaih palungthin to paek ah loe, nihcae to tangoeng thuih ah.
66 Thou pursuest in anger, and destroyest them, From under the heavens of Jehovah!
