< Lamentations 2 >

1 How doth the Lord cloud in His anger the daughter of Zion, He hath cast from heaven [to] earth the beauty of Israel, And hath not remembered His footstool in the day of His anger.
How! he covers with a cloud in anger his - [the] Lord [the] daughter of Zion he has thrown from heaven earth [the] splendor of Israel and not he has remembered [the] footstool of feet his in [the] day of anger his.
2 Swallowed up hath the Lord, He hath not pitied any of the pleasant places of Jacob, He hath broken down in His wrath The fortresses of the daughter of Judah, He hath caused to come to the earth, He polluted the kingdom and its princes.
He has swallowed up [the] Lord (and not *Q(K)*) he has spared all [the] settlements of Jacob he has torn down in wrath his [the] fortifications of [the] daughter of Judah he has made [them] touch the ground he has profaned [the] kingdom and princes its.
3 He hath cut off in the heat of anger every horn of Israel, He hath turned backward His right hand From the face of the enemy, And He burneth against Jacob as a flaming fire, It hath devoured round about.
He has cut off (in [the] heat of *L(abh)*) anger every horn of Israel he has turned back backward right [hand] his from before [the] enemy and he has burned Jacob like a fire of flame [which] it has consumed all around.
4 He hath trodden His bow as an enemy, Stood hath His right hand as an adversary, And He slayeth all the desirable ones of the eye, In the tent of the daughter of Zion, He hath poured out as fire His fury.
He has bent bow his like an enemy [he has] taken a stand right [hand] his like an opponent and he has killed all [the] delights of eye in [the] tent of [the] daughter of Zion he has poured out like fire rage his.
5 The Lord hath been as an enemy, He hath swallowed up Israel, He hath swallowed up all her palaces, He hath destroyed His fortresses, And He multiplieth in the daughter of Judah Mourning and moaning.
He has become [the] Lord - like an enemy he has swallowed up Israel he has swallowed up all palaces its he has ruined fortifications its and he has multiplied in [the] daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation.
6 And He shaketh as a garden His tabernacle, He hath destroyed His appointed place, Jehovah hath forgotten in Zion the appointed time and sabbath, And despiseth, in the indignation of His anger, king and priest.
And he has treated violently like garden booth his he has ruined appointed place his he has caused to be forgotten Yahweh - in Zion appointed feast and sabbath and he has spurned in [the] indignation of anger his king and priest.
7 The Lord hath cast off His altar, He hath rejected His sanctuary, He hath shut up into the hand of the enemy The walls of her palaces, A noise they have made in the house of Jehovah Like a day of appointment.
He has rejected [the] Lord - altar his he has repudiated sanctuary his he has delivered up in [the] hand of an enemy [the] walls of palaces its voice people have given forth in [the] house of Yahweh like [the] day of an appointed feast.
8 Devised hath Jehovah to destroy the wall of the daughter of Zion, He hath stretched out a line, He hath not turned His hand from destroying, And He causeth bulwark and wall to mourn, Together — they have been weak.
He has planned Yahweh - to destroy [the] wall of [the] daughter of Zion he has stretched out a measuring-line not he has turned back hand his from swallowing up and he has caused to mourn rampart and wall together they have languished.
9 Sunk into the earth have her gates, He hath destroyed and broken her bars, Her king and her princes [are] among the nations, There is no law, also her prophets Have not found vision from Jehovah.
They have sunk in the ground gates its he has destroyed and he has broken bars its king its and princes its [are] among the nations there not [is] instruction also prophets its not they have found a vision from Yahweh.
10 Sit on the earth — keep silent do the elders of the daughter of Zion, They have caused dust to go up on their head, They have girded on sackcloth, Put down to the earth their head have the virgins of Jerusalem.
They sit to the ground they are silent [the] elders of [the] daughter of Zion they have caused to rise dust on head their they have girded on sackcloth they have brought down to the ground head their [the] virgins of Jerusalem.
11 Consumed by tears have been my eyes, Troubled have been my bowels, Poured out to the earth hath been my liver, For the breach of the daughter of my people; In infant and suckling being feeble, In the broad places of the city,
They have failed by tears eyes my they are in turmoil inward parts my it has been poured out to the ground liver my on [the] brokenness of [the] daughter of people my because faint child and suckling-child in [the] open places of a town.
12 To their mothers they say, 'Where [are] corn and wine?' In their becoming feeble as a pierced one In the broad places of the city, In their soul pouring itself out into the bosom of their mothers.
To mothers their they say where? [are] grain and wine when faint away they like [one] fatally wounded in [the] open places of a city when pours itself out life their to [the] bosom of mothers their.
13 What do I testify [to] thee, what do I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? What do I equal to thee, and I comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? For great as a sea [is] thy breach, Who doth give healing to thee?
What? will I testify for you what? will I liken to you O daughter of Jerusalem what? will I make equal to you so I may comfort you O virgin of [the] daughter of Zion for [is] great like the sea brokenness your who? will he heal you.
14 Thy prophets have seen for thee a false and insipid thing, And have not revealed concerning thine iniquity, To turn back thy captivity, And they see for thee false burdens and causes of expulsion.
Prophets your they have seen for you worthlessness and sham and not they have made known on iniquity your to turn back (captivity your *Q(k)*) and they have seen for you oracles of worthlessness and enticement.
15 Clapped hands at thee have all passing by the way, They have hissed — and they shake the head At the daughter of Jerusalem: 'Is this the city of which they said: The perfection of beauty, a joy to all the land?'
They have clapped on you hands all [those who] pass by of [the] road they have hissed and they have shaken head their on [the] daughter of Jerusalem ¿ [is] this the city that people said perfect of beauty a joy to all the earth.
16 Opened against thee their mouth have all thine enemies, They have hissed, yea, they gnash the teeth, They have said: 'We have swallowed [her] up, Surely this [is] the day that we looked for, We have found — we have seen.'
They have opened on you mouth their all enemies your they have hissed and they have gnashed a tooth they said we have swallowed up surely this [is] the day that we have waited for it we have found we have seen.
17 Jehovah hath done that which He devised, He hath fulfilled His saying That He commanded from the days of old, He hath broken down and hath not pitied, And causeth an enemy to rejoice over thee, He lifted up the horn of thine adversaries.
He has done Yahweh what he purposed he has fulfilled word his which he commanded from days of antiquity he has torn down and not he has spared and he has caused to rejoice on you an enemy he has lifted up [the] horn of opponents your.
18 Cried hath their heart unto the Lord; O wall of the daughter of Zion, Cause to go down as a stream tears daily and nightly, Give not rest to thyself, Let not the daughter of thine eye stand still.
It has cried out heart their to [the] Lord O wall of [the] daughter of Zion send down like river tear[s] by day and night may not you give rest to yourself may not it be still [the] daughter of eye your.
19 Arise, cry aloud in the night, At the beginning of the watches. Pour out as water thy heart, Over against the face of the Lord, Lift up unto Him thy hands, for the soul of thine infants, Who are feeble with hunger at the head of all out-places.
Arise - cry out (in the night *Q(K)*) to [the] head of [the] night-watches pour out like water heart your before [the] presence of [the] Lord lift up to him hands your on [the] life children your the ones enfeebled by hunger at [the] head of all [the] streets.
20 See, O Jehovah, and look attentively, To whom Thou hast acted thus, Do women eat their fruit, infants of a handbreadth? Slain in the sanctuary of the Lord are priest and prophet?
See O Yahweh and look! to whom? have you dealt severely thus? will they eat women descendant[s] their children of health or? will he be killed in [the] sanctuary of [the] Lord priest and prophet.
21 Lain on the earth [in] out-places have young and old, My virgins and my young men have fallen by the sword, Thou hast slain in a day of Thine anger, Thou hast slaughtered — Thou hast not pitied.
They have lain down to the ground streets youth and old [person] young women my and young men my they have fallen by the sword you have killed in [the] day of anger your you have slaughtered not you have spared.
22 Thou dost call as [at] a day of appointment, My fears from round about, And there hath not been in the day of the anger of Jehovah, An escaped and remaining one, They whom I stretched out and nourished, My enemy hath consumed!
You have summoned like [the] day of an appointed feast terrors my from round about and not he was in [the] day of [the] anger of Yahweh an escapee and a survivor [those] whom I had given birth and I had reared enemy my he has made an end of them.
