Lamentations 1
1 How hath she sat alone, The city abounding with people! She hath been as a widow, The mighty among nations! Princes among provinces, She hath become tributary!
ഒരിക്കൽ ജനനിബിഡമായിരുന്ന നഗരം, എങ്ങനെ വിജനമായിപ്പോയി! ഒരിക്കൽ രാഷ്ട്രങ്ങളുടെ മധ്യേ ശ്രേഷ്ഠയായിരുന്നവൾ എങ്ങനെ വിധവയായിപ്പോയി! പ്രവിശ്യകളുടെ റാണിയായിരുന്നവൾ ഇതാ അടിമയായിരിക്കുന്നു!
2 She weepeth sore in the night, And her tear [is] on her cheeks, There is no comforter for her out of all her lovers, All her friends dealt treacherously by her, They have been to her for enemies.
രാത്രിയിൽ അവൾ ദുഃഖത്തോടെ കരഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു; അവളുടെ കവിൾത്തടങ്ങൾ കണ്ണുനീർ ഒഴുക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ പ്രേമഭാജനങ്ങളിൽ അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാൻ ഒരുവനുമില്ല. അവളുടെ സ്നേഹിതരെല്ലാം അവളെ തള്ളിപ്പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; അവരെല്ലാം അവളുടെ ശത്രുക്കളായിത്തീർന്നു.
3 Removed hath Judah because of affliction, And because of the abundance of her service; She hath dwelt among nations, She hath not found rest, All her pursuers have overtaken her between the straits.
കഷ്ടതയ്ക്കും കഠിനാധ്വാനത്തിനുംശേഷം യെഹൂദാ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു. ജനതകളുടെ മധ്യേ അവൾ വസിക്കുന്നു; വിശ്രമത്തിനിടം കണ്ടെത്തുന്നതുമില്ല. അവളുടെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നവർ അവളുടെ ദുരിതകാലത്തിൽത്തന്നെ അവളെ പിന്നിലാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
4 The ways of Zion are mourning, Without any coming at the appointed time, All her gates are desolate, her priests sigh, Her virgins are afflicted — and she hath bitterness.
സീയോനിലേക്കുള്ള പാതകൾ വിലപിക്കുന്നു, കാരണം ആരും അവളുടെ നിർദിഷ്ട ഉത്സവങ്ങൾക്ക് വരുന്നില്ല. അവളുടെ പ്രവേശനകവാടങ്ങളെല്ലാം ശൂന്യമാണ്, അവളുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ വിലപിക്കുന്നു, അവളുടെ കന്യകമാർ നെടുവീർപ്പിടുന്നു, അവളാകട്ടെ തീവ്രവേദനയിലും ആയിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 Her adversaries have become chief, Her enemies have been at ease, For Jehovah hath afflicted her, For the abundance of her transgressions, Her infants have gone captive before the adversary.
അവളുടെ ശത്രുക്കൾ അവളുടെ യജമാനന്മാരായിത്തീർന്നു; അവളുടെ ശത്രുക്കൾ സ്വസ്ഥതയോടെ കഴിയുന്നു. അവളുടെ അനവധി പാപങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം യഹോവ അവൾക്ക് കഷ്ടത വരുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ മക്കൾ പ്രവാസത്തിലേക്കുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു, ശത്രുക്കളുടെമുന്നിൽ തടവുകാരായിത്തന്നെ.
6 And go out from the daughter of Zion doth all her honour, Her princes have been as harts — They have not found pasture, And they go powerless before a pursuer.
സീയോൻപുത്രിയുടെ പ്രതാപമെല്ലാം അവളെ വിട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ പുൽമേടു കാണാത്ത മാനുകൾപോലെ; അവരെ പിൻതുടരുന്ന ശത്രുക്കളുടെമുന്നിൽ അവർ അവശരായി ഓടി.
7 Remembered hath Jerusalem [In] the days of her affliction and her mournings, all her desirable things that were from the days of old, In the falling of her people into the hand of an adversary, And she hath no helper; Seen her have adversaries, They have laughed at her cessation.
കഷ്ടതയുടെയും അലച്ചിലിന്റെയും ദിനങ്ങളിൽ ജെറുശലേം പുരാതനകാലങ്ങളിൽ തനിക്കുണ്ടായിരുന്ന എല്ലാ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങളെയുംകുറിച്ച് ഓർക്കുന്നു. അവളുടെ ജനങ്ങൾ ശത്രുകരങ്ങളിൽ വീണുപോയപ്പോൾ, അവളെ സഹായിക്കാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. അവളുടെ ശത്രുക്കൾ അവളെ നോക്കി, അവളുടെ നാശത്തിൽ അവളെ പരിഹസിച്ചു.
8 A sin hath Jerusalem sinned, Therefore impure she hath become, All who honoured her have esteemed her lightly, For they have seen her nakedness, Yea, she herself hath sighed and turneth backward.
ജെറുശലേം വലിയ പാപംചെയ്തു, അവൾ അങ്ങനെ മലിനയായിത്തീർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. അവളെ ബഹുമാനിച്ചിരുന്നവരെല്ലാം അവളെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നു, കാരണം അവരെല്ലാം അവളുടെ നഗ്നതകണ്ടല്ലോ; അവളാകട്ടെ ഞരക്കത്തോടെ മുഖംതിരിക്കുന്നു.
9 Her uncleanness [is] in her skirts, She hath not remembered her latter end, And she cometh down wonderfully, There is no comforter for her. See, O Jehovah, mine affliction, For exerted himself hath an enemy.
അവളുടെ അശുദ്ധി അവളുടെ വസ്ത്രത്തിൽ പറ്റിയിരിക്കുന്നു; അവൾ അവളുടെ ഭാവിയെക്കുറിച്ചു ചിന്തിച്ചതുമില്ല. അവളുടെ പതനം ഭയങ്കരമായിരുന്നു; അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. “യഹോവേ, എന്റെ കഷ്ടത നോക്കണമേ, കാരണം എന്റെ ശത്രു ജയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.”
10 His hand spread out hath an adversary On all her desirable things, For she hath seen — Nations have entered her sanctuary, Concerning which Thou didst command, 'They do not come into the assembly to thee.'
ശത്രു അവളുടെ സകലനിക്ഷേപങ്ങളിന്മേലും കൈവെച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; യെഹൂദേതരരായ ജനതകൾ, അങ്ങയുടെ മന്ദിരത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിക്കരുതെന്ന് അങ്ങു വിലക്കിയവർതന്നെ, അവളുടെ വിശുദ്ധസ്ഥലത്ത് പ്രവേശിക്കുന്നത് അവൾ കണ്ടു.
11 All her people are sighing — seeking bread, They have given their desirable things For food to refresh the body; See, O Jehovah, and behold attentively, For I have been lightly esteemed.
അപ്പംതേടി അലഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് അവളുടെ ജനം ഞരങ്ങുന്നു; അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ജീവൻ നിലനിർത്താനുള്ള ഭക്ഷണത്തിനായി തങ്ങളുടെ അമൂല്യ നിക്ഷേപങ്ങൾ മാറ്റക്കച്ചവടംചെയ്യുന്നു. “നോക്കണമേ, യഹോവേ, കരുതണമേ, ഞാൻ നിന്ദിതയായിരിക്കുന്നല്ലോ.”
12 [Is it] nothing to you, all ye passing by the way? Look attentively, and see, If there is any pain like my pain, That He is rolling to me? Whom Jehovah hath afflicted In the day of the fierceness of His anger.
“കടന്നുപോകുന്നവരേ, ഇതു നിങ്ങൾക്ക് ഏതുമില്ലയോ? ചുറ്റുമൊന്നു നോക്കിക്കാണുക. യഹോവ തന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപത്തിന്റെ ദിവസത്തിൽ എനിക്ക് വരുത്തിയ ദുഃഖംപോലൊരു ദുഃഖമുണ്ടോ?
13 From above He hath sent fire into my bone, And it subdueth it, He hath spread a net for my feet, He hath turned me backward, He hath made me desolate — all the day sick.
“ഉയരത്തിൽനിന്ന് അവിടന്ന് അഗ്നി അയച്ചു, എന്റെ അസ്ഥികളിലേക്കുതന്നെ അത് കടന്നുപിടിച്ചു. അവിടന്ന് എന്റെ കാലുകൾക്ക് ഒരു വല വിരിച്ച് എന്നെ പിന്തിരിപ്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു. അവിടന്ന് എന്നെ ശൂന്യമാക്കി, ദിവസം മുഴുവൻ എന്നെ അസ്തപ്രജ്ഞയാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
14 Bound hath been the yoke of my transgressions by His hand, They are wrapped together, They have gone up on my neck, He hath caused my power to stumble, The Lord hath given me into hands, I am not able to rise.
“എന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾ ഒരു നുകത്തോടു ബന്ധിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അവിടത്തെ കരങ്ങളാൽ അവയെ ഒന്നിച്ചു പിണച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അവ എന്റെ കഴുത്തിന്മേൽ അമർന്നു, കർത്താവ് എന്റെ ശക്തി ക്ഷയിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. എനിക്ക് എതിർത്തുനിൽക്കാൻ കഴിയാത്തവർക്ക് അവിടന്ന് എന്നെ കൈമാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
15 Trodden down all my mighty ones hath the Lord in my midst, He proclaimed against me an appointed time, To destroy my young men, A wine-press hath the Lord trodden, To the virgin daughter of Judah.
“എന്റെ എല്ലാ പോരാളികളെയും കർത്താവ് നിരസിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ യുവവീരന്മാരെ തകർക്കുന്നതിന് അവിടന്ന് എനിക്കെതിരേ ഒരു സൈന്യത്തെ വിളിച്ചുവരുത്തി. കർത്താവ് അവിടത്തെ മുന്തിരിച്ചക്കിൽ യെഹൂദയുടെ കന്യകയായ മകളെ ചവിട്ടിമെതിക്കുന്നു.
16 For these I am weeping, My eye, my eye, is running down with waters, For, far from me hath been a comforter, Refreshing my soul, My sons have been desolate, For mighty hath been an enemy.
“അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ഞാൻ കരയുന്നത്, എന്റെ കണ്ണുകളിൽ കണ്ണുനീർ കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാൻ ആരും എനിക്കരികിലില്ല, എന്റെ പ്രാണനെ വീണ്ടെടുക്കാനും ആരുമില്ല. എന്റെ മക്കൾ അഗതികളാണ്, കാരണം ശത്രു എന്നെ കീഴടക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.”
17 Spread forth hath Zion her hands, There is no comforter for her, Jehovah hath charged concerning Jacob, His neighbours [are] his adversaries, Jerusalem hath become impure among them.
സീയോൻ അവളുടെ കരങ്ങൾ നീട്ടുന്നു, എങ്കിലും അവളെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാൻ ആരുമില്ല. തന്റെ അയൽവാസികൾ തനിക്ക് ശത്രുക്കളാകുമെന്ന് യഹോവ യാക്കോബിനോട് ശപഥംചെയ്തു; ജെറുശലേം അവർക്കിടയിൽ ഒരു മലിനവസ്തുവായി മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
18 Righteous is Jehovah, For His mouth I have provoked. Hear, I pray you, all ye peoples, and see my pain, My virgins and my young men have gone into captivity.
“യഹോവ നീതിമാനാകുന്നു, എന്നിട്ടും അവിടത്തെ ആജ്ഞ ഞാൻ ധിക്കരിച്ചു. സർവജനതകളുമേ, നിങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക എന്റെ കഷ്ടത നിങ്ങൾ കാണുക. എന്റെ യുവാക്കളും കന്യകമാരും പ്രവാസത്തിൽ പോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
19 I called for my lovers, they — they have deceived me, My priests and my elders in the city have expired; When they have sought food for themselves, Then they give back their soul.
“ഞാൻ എന്റെ സഖ്യദേശങ്ങളെ വിളിച്ചു, എന്നാൽ അവർ എന്നെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ഗോത്രത്തലവന്മാരും ജീവൻ നിലനിർത്തുന്നതിന് ഭക്ഷണം തേടുന്നതിനിടയിൽ നഗരത്തിൽ പട്ടുപോയിരിക്കുന്നു.
20 See, O Jehovah, for distress [is] to me, My bowels have been troubled, Turned hath been my heart in my midst, For I have greatly provoked, From without bereaved hath the sword, In the house [it is] as death.
“യഹോവേ നോക്കണമേ, ഞാൻ വിഷമത്തിലായി! ഉള്ളിൽ എനിക്ക് അതിവേദനയാണ്, എന്റെ ഹൃദയം അസ്വസ്ഥമാണ്, ഞാൻ അത്യന്തം നിഷേധിയായിരുന്നല്ലോ. പുറമേ വാൾ വിലാപം വിതയ്ക്കുന്നു; ഉള്ളിലോ മരണംമാത്രവും.
21 They have heard that I have sighed, There is no comforter for me, All my enemies have heard of my calamity, They have rejoiced that Thou hast done [it], Thou hast brought in the day Thou hast called, And they are like to me.
“ജനങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ഞരക്കം കേട്ടു, എങ്കിലും എന്നെ ആശ്വസിപ്പിക്കാൻ ആരും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല. എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾ എല്ലാം എന്റെ തീവ്രദുഃഖത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു; അങ്ങയുടെ പ്രവൃത്തിയിൽ അവർ ഉല്ലസിക്കുന്നു. അവരും എന്നെപ്പോലെ ആകേണ്ടതിന് അങ്ങു കൽപ്പിച്ച ദിവസം അങ്ങു വരുത്തണമേ.
22 Come in doth all their evil before Thee, And one is doing to them as Thou hast done to me, For all my transgressions, For many [are] my sighs, and my heart [is] sick!
“അവരുടെ എല്ലാ ദുഷ്ടതയും അങ്ങയുടെമുമ്പിൽ വരട്ടെ; എന്റെ പാപങ്ങൾനിമിത്തം എന്നോട് ചെയ്തതുപോലെ, അവരോടും ചെയ്യുക. എന്റെ നിശ്വാസങ്ങൾ ബഹുലവും എന്റെ ഹൃദയം തളർന്നുമിരിക്കുന്നു.”
