Judges 18

1 In those days there is no king in Israel, and in those days the tribe of the Danite is seeking for itself an inheritance to inhabit, for [that] hath not fallen to it unto that day in the midst of the tribes of Israel by inheritance.

௧அந்த நாட்களில் இஸ்ரவேலிலே ராஜாவே இல்லை; தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்கள் குடியிருக்கிறதற்கு, தங்களுக்குப் பங்கு தேடினார்கள்; அந்த நாள்வரைக்கும் அவர்களுக்கு இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்கள் நடுவே போதிய பங்கு கிடைக்கவில்லை.

2 And the sons of Dan send, out of their family, five men of them, men, sons of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to traverse the land, and to search it, and they say unto them, 'Go, search the land;' and they come into the hill-country of Ephraim, unto the house of Micah, and lodge there.

௨ஆகையால் தேசத்தை உளவுபார்த்து வரும்படி, தாண் மக்கள் தங்கள் கோத்திரத்திலே பலத்த மனிதர்களாகிய ஐந்து பேரைத் தங்கள் எல்லைகளில் இருக்கிற சோராவிலும் எஸ்தாவோலிலும் இருந்து அனுப்பி: நீங்கள் போய், தேசத்தை ஆராய்ந்துபார்த்து வாருங்கள் என்று அவர்களோடே சொன்னார்கள்; அவர்கள் எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்தில் இருக்கிற மீகாவின் வீடுவரை போய், அங்கே இரவு தங்கினார்கள்.

3 They [are] with the household of Micah, and they have discerned the voice of the young man, the Levite, and turn aside there, and say to him, 'Who hath brought thee hither? and what art thou doing in this [place?] and what to thee here?'

௩அவர்கள் மீகாவின் வீட்டின் அருகில் இருக்கும்போது லேவியனான வாலிபனுடைய சத்தத்தை அறிந்து, அங்கே அவனிடத்தில் போய்: உன்னை இங்கே அழைத்து வந்தது யார்? இவ்விடத்தில் என்ன செய்கிறாய்? உனக்கு இங்கே என்ன இருக்கிறது என்று அவனிடத்தில் கேட்டார்கள்.

4 And he saith unto them, 'Thus and thus hath Micah done to me; and he hireth me, and I am to him for a priest.'

௪அதற்கு அவன்: இன்ன இன்னபடி மீகா எனக்குச் செய்தான்; என்னை சம்பளத்திற்கு பணியமர்த்தினான்; அவனுக்கு ஆசாரியனானேன் என்றான்.

5 And they say to him, 'Ask, we pray thee, at God, and we know whether our way is prosperous on which we are going.'

௫அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் அவனை நோக்கி: எங்கள் பயணம் வெற்றியாக முடியுமா என்று நாங்கள் அறியும்படி தேவனிடத்தில் கேள் என்றார்கள்.

6 And the priest saith to them, 'Go in peace; over-against Jehovah [is] your way in which ye go.'

௬அவர்களுக்கு அந்த ஆசாரியன்: சமாதானத்தோடு போங்கள்; உங்கள் பயணம் யெகோவாவுக்கு ஏற்றது என்றான்.

7 And the five men go, and come in to Laish, and see the people which [is] in its midst, dwelling confidently, according to the custom of Zidonians, quiet and confident; and there is none putting to shame in the land in [any] thing, possessing restraint, and they [are] far off from the Zidonians, and have no word with [any] man.

௭அப்பொழுது அந்த ஐந்து மனிதர்களும் புறப்பட்டு, லாயீசுக்குப் போய், அதில் குடியிருக்கிற மக்கள் சீதோனியர்களுடைய வழக்கத்தின்படியே, பயமில்லாமல் அமைதியாகவும் எந்த குறையில்லாமலும் சுகமாக இருக்கிறதையும், அவர்கள் சீதோனியர்களுக்குத் தூரமானவர்கள் என்பதையும், அவர்களுக்கு ஒருவரோடும் கொடுக்கல் வாங்கல் விவகாரங்கள் இல்லை என்பதையும் பார்த்து,

8 And they come in unto their brethren, at Zorah and Eshtaol, and their brethren say to them, 'What — ye?'

௮சோராவிலும் எஸ்தாவோலிலும் இருக்கிற தங்கள் சகோதரர்களிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்தார்கள். அவர்களுடைய சகோதரர்கள்: நீங்கள் கொண்டுவருகிற செய்தி என்ன என்று அவர்களைக் கேட்டார்கள்.

9 And they say, 'Rise, and we go up against them, for we have seen the land, and lo, very good; and ye are keeping silent! be not slothful to go — to enter to possess the land.

௯அதற்கு அவர்கள்: எழும்புங்கள், அவர்களுக்கு எதிராகப் போவோம் வாருங்கள்; அந்த தேசத்தைப் பார்த்தோம், அது மிகவும் நன்றாயிருக்கிறது, நீங்கள் சும்மாயிருப்பீர்களா? அந்த தேசத்தைச் கைப்பற்றிக்கொள்ளும்படி புறப்பட்டுப்போக அசதியாக இருக்கவேண்டாம்.

10 When ye go, ye come in unto a people confident, and the land [is] large on both hands, for God hath given it into your hand, a place where there is no lack of anything which [is] in the land.'

௧0நீங்கள் அங்கே சேரும்போது, சுகமாய்க் குடியிருக்கிற மக்களிடம் சேருவீர்கள்; அந்த தேசம் விசாலமாக இருக்கிறது; தேவன் அதை உங்களுடைய கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அது பூமியிலுள்ள எல்லாப் பொருட்களும் குறைவில்லாமலிருக்கிற இடம் என்றார்கள்.

11 And there journey thence, of the family of the Danite, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, six hundred men girded with weapons of war.

௧௧அப்பொழுது சோராவிலும் எஸ்தாவோலிலும் இருக்கிற தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்களில் அறுநூறுபேர் ஆயுதம் அணிந்தவர்களாக அங்கேயிருந்து புறப்பட்டுப்போய்,

12 And they go up and encamp in Kirjath-Jearim, in Judah, therefore they have called that place, 'Camp of Dan,' till this day; lo, behind Kirjath-Jearim.

௧௨யூதாவிலுள்ள கீரியாத்யாரீமிலே முகாமிட்டார்கள்; ஆதலால் மக்கள் அதை இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் மக்னிதான் என்று அழைக்கிறார்கள்; அது கீரியாத்யாரீமின் மேற்குப்பகுதியிலே இருக்கிறது.

13 And they pass over thence [to] the hill-country of Ephraim, and come in unto the house of Micah.

௧௩பின்பு அவர்கள் அங்கேயிருந்து எப்பிராயீம் மலைக்குப் போய், மீகாவின் வீடுவரை வந்தார்கள்.

14 And the five men, those going to traverse the land of Laish, answer and say unto their brethren, 'Have ye known that there is in these houses an ephod, and teraphim, and graven image, and molten image? and now, know what ye do.'

௧௪அப்பொழுது லாயீசின் நாட்டை உளவுபார்க்கப் போய்வந்த ஐந்து மனிதர்கள் தங்கள் சகோதரர்களைப் பார்த்து: இந்த வீடுகளில் ஏபோத்தும் சுரூபங்களும் வெட்டப்பட்ட விக்கிரகமும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகமும் இருக்கிறது என்று உங்களுக்குத் தெரியுமா; இப்போதும் நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டியதைத் தீர்மானித்துக் கொள்ளுங்கள் என்றார்கள்.

15 And they turn aside thither, and come in unto the house of the young man the Levite, the house of Micah, and ask of him of welfare, —

௧௫அப்பொழுது அந்த இடத்திற்குத் திரும்பி, மீகாவின் வீட்டில் இருக்கிற லேவியனான வாலிபனின் வீட்டிற்கு வந்து, அவனிடத்தில் சுகசெய்தி விசாரித்தார்கள்.

16 (and the six hundred men girded with their weapons of war, who [are] of the sons of Dan, are standing at the opening of the gate), —

௧௬ஆயுதம் அணிந்தவர்களாகிய தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்கள் 600 பேரும் வாசற்படியிலே நின்றார்கள்.

17 yea, the five men, those going to traverse the land, go up — they have come in thither — they have taken the graven image, and the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image — and the priest is standing at the opening of the gate, and the six hundred men who are girded with weapons of war —

௧௭ஆசாரியனும் ஆயுதம் அணிந்தவர்களாகிய 600 பேரும் வாசற்படியிலே நிற்க்கும்போது, தேசத்தை உளவுபார்க்கப் போய் வந்த அந்த 5 மனிதர்கள் உள்ளே புகுந்து, செதுக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தையும் ஏபோத்தையும் உருவங்களையும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள்.

18 yea, these have entered the house of Micah, and take the graven image, the ephod, and the teraphim, and the molten image; and the priest saith unto them, 'What are ye doing?'

௧௮அவர்கள் மீகாவின் வீட்டிற்குள் புகுந்து, செதுக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தையும் ஏபோத்தையும் உருவங்களையும் வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வருகிறபோது, ஆசாரியன் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் செய்கிறது என்ன என்று கேட்டான்.

19 and they say to him, 'Keep silent, lay thy hand on thy mouth, and go with us, and be to us for a father and for a priest: is it better thy being a priest to the house of one man, or thy being priest to a tribe and to a family in Israel?'

௧௯அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நீ பேசாதே, உன்னுடைய வாயை மூடிக்கொண்டு, எங்களோடு வந்து எங்களுக்குத் தகப்பனும் ஆசாரியனுமாயிரு; நீ ஒருவனுடைய வீட்டிற்கு மட்டும் ஆசாரியனாக இருக்கிறது நல்லதோ? இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு கோத்திரத்திற்கும் வம்சத்திற்கும் ஆசாரியனாக இருக்கிறது நல்லதோ? என்றார்கள்.

20 And the heart of the priest is glad, and he taketh the ephod, and the teraphim, and the graven image, and goeth into the midst of the people,

௨0அப்பொழுது ஆசாரியனுடைய மனது மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்து, அவன் ஏபோத்தையும் உருவங்களையும் செதுக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, மக்களிடம் போனான்.

21 and they turn and go, and put the infants, and the cattle, and the baggage, before them.

௨௧அவர்கள் திரும்பும்படிப் புறப்பட்டு, பிள்ளைகளையும், ஆடுமாடுகளையும், உடைமைகளையும், தங்களுக்கு முன்னே போகச்செய்தார்கள்.

22 They have been far off from the house of Micah — and the men who [are] in the houses which [are] near the house of Micah have been called together, and overtake the sons of Dan,

௨௨அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டு, மீகாவின் வீட்டை விட்டுக் கொஞ்சந்தூரம் போனபோது, மீகாவின் வீட்டிற்கு அயல்வீட்டார் கூட்டங்கூடி, தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்களை பின்தொடர்ந்துவந்து,

23 and call unto the sons of Dan, and they turn round their faces, and say to Micah, 'What — to thee that thou hast been called together?'

௨௩அவர்களைப் பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் திரும்பிப்பார்த்து, மீகாவை நோக்கி: நீ இப்படிக் கூட்டத்துடன் வருகிற காரியம் என்ன என்று கேட்டார்கள்.

24 And he saith, 'My gods which I made ye have taken, and the priest, and ye go; and what to me more? and what [is] this ye say unto me, What — to thee!'

௨௪அதற்கு அவன்: நான் உண்டாக்கின என்னுடைய தெய்வங்களையும் அந்த ஆசாரியனையுங்கூட நீங்கள் கொண்டு போகிறீர்களே; இனி எனக்கு என்ன இருக்கிறது; நீ கூப்பிடுகிற காரியம் என்ன என்று நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் எப்படிக் கேட்கலாம் என்றான்.

25 And the sons of Dan say unto him, 'Let not thy voice be heard with us, lest men bitter in soul fall upon you, and thou hast gathered thy life, and the life of thy household;'

௨௫தாண் மக்கள் அவனைப் பார்த்து: எங்கள் காதுகள் கேட்க சத்தமிடாதே, சத்தமிட்டால் கடுங்கோபக்காரர்கள் உங்களைத் தாக்குவார்கள்; அப்பொழுது நீயும் உன்னுடைய குடும்பத்தினர்களும் கொல்லப்படுவார்கள் என்று சொல்லி,

26 and the sons of Dan go on their way, and Micah seeth that they are stronger than he, and turneth, and goeth back unto his house.

௨௬தங்களுடைய வழியிலே நடந்துபோனார்கள்; அவர்கள் தன்னைவிட பலசாலிகள் என்று மீகா பார்த்து, அவன் தன்னுடைய வீட்டிற்குத் திரும்பினான்.

27 And they have taken that which Micah had made, and the priest whom he had, and come in against Laish, against a people quiet and confident, and smite them by the mouth of the sword, and the city have burnt with fire,

௨௭அவர்களோ மீகா உண்டாக்கினவைகளையும், அவனுடைய ஆசாரியனையும் கொண்டுபோய், பயமில்லாமல் சுகமாயிருக்கிற லாயீஸ் ஊர் மக்களிடத்தில் சேர்த்து, அவர்களைக் கூர்மையான பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டி, பட்டணத்தை அக்கினியால் எரித்துப்போட்டார்கள்.

28 and there is no deliverer, for it [is] far off from Zidon, and they have no word with [any] man, and it [is] in the valley which [is] by Beth-Rehob; and they build the city, and dwell in it,

௨௮அது சீதோனுக்குத் தூரமாயிருந்தது; மற்ற மனிதர்களோடு அவர்களுக்குச் சம்பந்தமில்லாமலும் இருந்ததால், அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்ற ஒருவரும் இல்லை; அந்தப் பட்டணம் பெத்ரேகோபுக்கு அருகே பள்ளத்தாக்கில் இருந்தது; அவர்கள் அதைத் திரும்பக் கட்டி, அதிலே குடியிருந்து,

29 and call the name of the city Dan, by the name of Dan their father, who was born to Israel; and yet Laish [is] the name of the city at the first.

௨௯முதலில் லாயீஸ் என்னும் பெயர்கொண்டிருந்த அந்தப் பட்டணத்திற்கு இஸ்ரவேலுக்குப் பிறந்த தங்கள் முற்பிதவான தாணுடைய பெயரின்படியே தாண் என்று பெயரிட்டார்கள்.

30 And the sons of Dan raise up for themselves the graven image, and Jonathan son of Gershom, son of Manasseh, he and his sons have been priests to the tribe of the Danite, till the day of the removal of [the people] of the land.

௩0அப்பொழுது தாண் மக்கள் அந்தச் சுரூபத்தைத் தங்களுக்கு நியமித்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; மனாசேயின் மகனான கெர்சோனின் மகன் யோனத்தானும், அவன் மகன்களும் அந்தத் தேசம் சிறைப்பட்டுப்போன நாள்வரை, தாண் கோத்திரத்தார்கள் ஆசாரியர்களாக இருந்தார்கள்.

31 And they appoint for them the graven image of Micah, which he had made, all the days of the house of God being in Shiloh.

௩௧தேவனுடைய கூடாரம் சீலோவிலிருந்த காலம் முழுவதும் அவர்கள் மீகா உண்டாக்கின சிலையை வைத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.
