Judges 15
1 And it cometh to pass, after [some] days, in the days of wheat-harvest, that Samson looketh after his wife, with a kid of the goats, and saith, 'I go in unto my wife, to the inner chamber;' and her father hath not permitted him to go in,
Nach einiger Zeit aber, in der Zeit der Weizenernte, kam Simson mit einem Ziegenböckchen, um sein Weib zu besuchen, und verlangte: Laßt mich zu meinem Weibe ins innere Gemach gehen! Aber ihr Vater ließ ihn nicht eintreten.
2 and her father saith, I certainly said, that thou didst certainly hate her, and I give her to thy companion; is not her sister — the young one — better than she? Let her be, I pray thee, to thee, instead of her.'
Vielmehr erklärte ihr Vater: Ich dachte in der That, du seist ihr abgeneigt, und gab sie deinem Gesellen; aber ihre jüngere Schwester ist ja noch schöner als sie: sie sei dein anstatt jener!
3 And Samson saith of them, 'I am more innocent this time than the Philistines, though I am doing with them evil.'
Simson aber erwiderte ihnen: Diesmal bin ich ohne Schuld den Philistern gegenüber, wenn ich ihnen etwas anhänge!
4 And Samson goeth and catcheth three hundred foxes, and taketh torches, and turneth tail unto tail, and putteth a torch between the two tails, in the midst,
So machte sich denn Simson auf den Weg und fing dreihundert Füchse, nahm Fackeln, kehrte immer einen Schwanz gegen den anderen und that mitten zwischen je zwei Schwänze eine Fackel.
5 and kindleth fire in the torches, and sendeth [them] out into the standing corn of the Philistines, and burneth [it] from heap even unto standing corn, even unto vineyard — olive-yard.
Dann steckte er die Fackeln in Brand, ließ sie in die Getreidefelder der Philister laufen und steckte so sowohl die Garben, als die noch stehenden Halme und die Olivengärten in Brand.
6 And the Philistines say, 'Who hath done this?' And they say, 'Samson, son-in-law of the Timnite, because he hath taken away his wife, and giveth her to his companion;' and the Philistines go up, and burn her and her father with fire.
Als nun die Philister fragten: Wer hat dies gethan? hieß es: Simson, der Eidam des Thimniters, - weil er ihm sein Weib genommen und es seinem Gesellen gegeben hat! Da kamen die Philister herangezogen und verbrannten sie samt ihrem Vater.
7 And Samson saith to them, 'Though ye do thus, nevertheless I am avenged on you, and afterwards I cease!'
Simson aber sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ihr dergleichen thut, so will ich nicht eher ruhen, als bis ich Rache an euch genommen habe!
8 And he smiteth them hip and thigh — a great smiting, and goeth down and dwelleth in the cleft of the rock Etam.
So zerschlug er ihnen Schenkel und Hüfte mit heftigen Schlägen. Dann ging er hinab und nahm seinen Aufenthalt in der Felsenkluft von Etam.
9 And the Philistines go up, and encamp in Judah, and are spread out in Lehi,
Da rückten die Philister heran, lagerten sich in Juda und breiteten sich über Lehi aus.
10 and the men of Judah say, 'Why have ye come up against us?' and they say, 'To bind Samson we have come up, to do to him as he hath done to us.'
Als nun die Judäer fragten: Warum seid ihr gegen uns herangezogen? erwiderten sie: Um Simson festzunehmen, sind wir herangezogen, um mit ihm zu verfahren, wie er mit uns verfahren ist.
11 And three thousand men of Judah go down unto the cleft of the rock Etam, and say to Samson, 'Hast thou now known that the Philistines are rulers over us? and what [is] this thou hast done to us?' And he saith to them, 'As they did to me, so I did to them.'
Da zogen dreitausend Mann aus Juda hinab nach der Felsenkluft von Etam und riefen Simson zu: Weißt du nicht, daß die Philister unsere Herren sind? Warum hast du uns also das angethan? Er erwiderte ihnen: Wie sie mit mir verfahren sind, so verfuhr ich mit ihnen.
12 And they say to him, 'To bind thee we have come down — to give thee into the hand of the Philistines.' And Samson saith to them, 'Swear to me, lest ye fall upon me yourselves.'
Sie sprachen zu ihm: Dich festzunehmen, sind wir hergekommen, um dich den Philistern auszuliefern! Simson aber erwiderte ihnen: Schwört mir, daß ihr selbst mich nicht erschlagen wollt!
13 And they speak to him, saying, No, but we certainly bind thee, and have given thee into their hand, and we certainly do not put thee to death;' and they bind him with two thick bands, new ones, and bring him up from the rock.
Sie antworteten ihm: Nein, wir wollen dich ja nur festnehmen und ihnen ausliefern - töten wollen wir dich nicht! So fesselten sie ihn denn mit zwei neuen Stricken und brachten ihn herauf vom Felsen.
14 He hath come unto Lehi — and the Philistines have shouted at meeting him — and the Spirit of Jehovah prospereth over him, and the thick bands which [are] on his arms are as flax which they burn with fire, and his bands are wasted from off his hands,
Als er aber bis Lehi gelangt war, und die Philister schon ein Freudengeschrei erhoben über seine Ankunft, da überkam ihn der Geist Jahwes, und die Stricke an seinen Armen wurden wie Fäden, die vom Feuer versengt sind, und seine Bande zerflossen ihm an den Händen.
15 and he findeth a fresh jaw-bone of an ass, and putteth forth his hand and taketh it, and smiteth with it — a thousand men.
Als er sodann einen frischen Eselskinnbacken fand, streckte er seine Hand aus, nahm ihn und erschlug damit tausend Mann.
16 And Samson saith, 'With a jaw-bone of the ass — an ass upon asses — with a jaw-bone of the ass I have smitten a thousand men.'
Da rief Simson: Mit einem Eselskinnbacken habe ich sie gründlich geschoren, mit einem Eselskinnbacken habe ich 1000 Mann erschlagen!
17 And it cometh to pass when he finisheth speaking, that he casteth away the jaw-bone out of his hand, and calleth that place Ramath-Lehi;
Als er ausgeredet hatte, warf er den Kinnbacken weg, und man nannte seitdem jene Örtlichkeit Ramath Lehi.
18 and he thirsteth exceedingly, and calleth unto Jehovah, and saith, 'Thou — Thou hast given by the hand of Thy servant this great salvation; and now, I die with thirst, and have fallen into the hand of the uncircumcised.'
Da ihn aber sehr dürstete, rief er Jahwe an und sprach: Du hast durch deines Knechtes Hand diesen großen Sieg gegeben - und nun soll ich vor Durst umkommen und den Unbeschnittenen in die Hände fallen?
19 And God cleaveth the hollow place which [is] in Lehi, and waters come out of it, and he drinketh, and his spirit cometh back, and he reviveth; therefore hath [one] called its name 'The fountain of him who is calling,' which [is] in Lehi unto this day.
Da spaltete Gott die Vertiefung in dem Kinnbacken, und es floß Wasser daraus hervor. Als er nun getrunken hatte, kehrten seine Lebensgeister zurück und er lebte wieder auf. Daher nannte man sie: Quelle des Rufers; die befindet sich bei Lehi bis auf den heutigen Tag.
20 And he judgeth Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
Er richtete aber Israel in den Tagen der Philisterherrschaft zwanzig Jahre.
