Judges 10
1 And there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,
Après la mort d'Abimélech, un fils de son oncle maternel fut suscité pour sauver Israël: ce fut Thola, fils de Phua, de la tribu d'Issachar; il demeurait à Samir, dans les montagnes d'Ephraïm.
2 and he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.
Il jugea Israël vingt-trois ans; puis, il mourut, et il fut enseveli à Samir.
3 And there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,
Après lui, s'éleva Jaïr de Galaad, qui jugea Israël vingt-deux ans.
4 and he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which [are] in the land of Gilead;
Il avait trente-deux fils qui montaient sur trente-deux poulains, et trente-deux villes leur appartenaient; on appelle ces villes, encore de nos jours, les cités de Jaïr, en la terre de Galaad.
5 and Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.
Jaïr mourut, et il fut enseveli à Rhamnon.
6 And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;
Alors, les fils d'Israël recommencèrent à faire le mal devant le Seigneur; ils servirent les Baal, les Astaroth, les dieux d'Aram, les dieux de Sidon, les dieux de Moab, les dieux des fils d'Ammon, et les dieux des Philistins; ils abandonnèrent le Seigneur, et ils ne le servirent plus.
7 and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,
Et le Seigneur se courrouça contre Israël, il les livra aux mains des Philistins et des fils d'Ammon.
8 and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year — eighteen years all the sons of Israel [who] are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which [is] in Gilead.
En ce temps-là, ceux-ci opprimèrent et meurtrirent les fils d'Israël, durant dix-huit années; c'est-à-dire tous les fils d'Israël, au delà du Jourdain, en la terre des Amorrhéens qui est celle de Galaad.
9 And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.
Ensuite, les fils d'Ammon traversèrent le Jourdain pour combattre Juda, Benjamin et Ephraïm; et les fils d'Israël furent grandement affligés.
10 And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, 'We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'
Et les fils d'Israël crièrent au Seigneur, disant: Nous avons péché contre vous, parce que nous avons abandonné Dieu pour servir Baal.
11 And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, '[Have I] not [saved you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?
Et le Seigneur dit aux fils d'Israël: Ne vous ai-je point sauvés de l'Egypte, de l'Amorrhéen, des fils d'Ammon, des Philistins,
12 And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;
Des Sidoniens, d'Amalec, de Madian, de tous ceux qui vous ont opprimés? N'avez-vous point crié au Seigneur? ne vous ai-je point délivrés de leurs mains?
13 and ye — ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.
Ne m'avez-vous point abandonné pour servir d'autres dieux? A cause de cela, je ne vous sauverai plus.
14 Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they — they save you in the time of your adversity.'
Allez, criez aux dieux que vous vous êtes choisis, qu'ils vous sauvent au temps de votre affliction.
15 And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, 'We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'
Et les fils d'Israël dirent au Seigneur: Nous avons péché, traitez-nous comme il sera bon à vos yeux, seulement délivrez-nous aujourd'hui.
16 And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.
Et ils expulsèrent du milieu du peuple les dieux étrangers, et ils servirent le Seigneur seul, et son âme s'apaisa à cause de l'anxiété d'Israël;
17 And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.
Et les fils d'Ammon vinrent camper en Galaad; et les fils d'Israël se réunirent et campèrent sur une cime élevée.
18 And the people — heads of Gilead — say one unto another, 'Who [is] the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'
Le peuple et les fils de Galaad se dirent entre eux: Quel est l'homme qui le premier livrera bataille aux fils d'Ammon, et qui sera le chef de tous ceux qui habitent Galaad?
