Judges 10
1 And there riseth after Abimelech, to save Israel, Tola son of Puah, son of Dodo, a man of Issachar, and he is dwelling in Shamir, in the hill-country of Ephraim,
Après Abimélec, Tola, fils de Puah, fils de Dodo, homme d'Issacar, se leva pour sauver Israël. Il habitait à Schamir, dans la montagne d'Éphraïm.
2 and he judgeth Israel twenty and three years, and he dieth, and is buried in Shamir.
Il jugea Israël pendant vingt-trois ans, puis il mourut et fut enterré à Schamir.
3 And there riseth after him Jair the Gileadite, and he judgeth Israel twenty and two years,
Après lui se leva Jaïr, le Galaadite. Il fut juge en Israël pendant vingt-deux ans.
4 and he hath thirty sons riding on thirty ass-colts, and they have thirty cities, (they call them Havoth-Jair unto this day), which [are] in the land of Gilead;
Il avait trente fils qui montaient sur trente ânes. Ils avaient trente villes, qui sont appelées jusqu'à ce jour Havvoth Jaïr, et qui sont situées dans le pays de Galaad.
5 and Jair dieth, and is buried in Kamon.
Jaïr mourut, et il fut enterré à Kamon.
6 And the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and serve the Baalim, and Ashtaroth, and the gods of Aram, and the gods of Zidon, and the gods of Moab, and the gods of the Bene-Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines, and forsake Jehovah, and have not served Him;
Les enfants d'Israël firent encore ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, et ils servirent les Baals, les Ashtaroths, les dieux de Syrie, les dieux de Sidon, les dieux de Moab, les dieux des enfants d'Ammon et les dieux des Philistins. Ils abandonnèrent Yahvé et ne le servirent pas.
7 and the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the Bene-Ammon,
La colère de Yahvé s'enflamma contre Israël, et il les vendit entre les mains des Philistins et entre les mains des enfants d'Ammon.
8 and they crush and oppress the sons of Israel in that year — eighteen years all the sons of Israel [who] are beyond the Jordan, in the land of the Amorite, which [is] in Gilead.
Ils troublèrent et opprimèrent les enfants d'Israël cette année-là. Ils opprimèrent pendant dix-huit ans tous les enfants d'Israël qui étaient au-delà du Jourdain, dans le pays des Amoréens, qui est en Galaad.
9 And the Bene-Ammon pass over the Jordan to fight also against Judah, and against Benjamin, and against the house of Ephraim, and Israel hath great distress.
Les enfants d'Ammon passèrent le Jourdain pour combattre Juda, Benjamin et la maison d'Ephraïm, de sorte qu'Israël fut très éprouvé.
10 And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, saying, 'We have sinned against Thee, even because we have forsaken our God, and serve the Baalim.'
Les enfants d'Israël crièrent à Yahvé, en disant: « Nous avons péché contre toi, parce que nous avons abandonné notre Dieu et servi les Baals. »
11 And Jehovah saith unto the sons of Israel, '[Have I] not [saved you] from the Egyptians, and from the Amorite, from the Bene-Ammon, and from the Philistines?
Yahvé dit aux enfants d'Israël: « Ne vous ai-je pas sauvés des Égyptiens, des Amoréens, des enfants d'Ammon et des Philistins?
12 And the Zidonians, and Amalek, and Maon have oppressed you, and ye cry unto Me, and I save you out of their hand;
Les Sidoniens, les Amalécites et les Maonites vous ont opprimés; vous avez crié vers moi, et je vous ai sauvés de leur main.
13 and ye — ye have forsaken Me, and serve other gods, therefore I add not to save you.
Mais vous m'avez abandonné et vous avez servi d'autres dieux. C'est pourquoi je ne vous sauverai plus.
14 Go and cry unto the gods on which ye have fixed; they — they save you in the time of your adversity.'
Va et crie vers les dieux que tu as choisis. Qu'ils te sauvent au temps de ta détresse! »
15 And the sons of Israel say unto Jehovah, 'We have sinned, do Thou to us according to all that is good in Thine eyes; only deliver us, we pray Thee, this day.'
Les enfants d'Israël dirent à Yahvé: « Nous avons péché! Fais de nous ce qui te semble bon; mais délivre-nous, je t'en prie, aujourd'hui. »
16 And they turn aside the gods of the stranger out of their midst, and serve Jehovah, and His soul is grieved with the misery of Israel.
Ils chassèrent les dieux étrangers du milieu d'eux et servirent Yahvé; et son âme fut affligée de la misère d'Israël.
17 And the Bene-Ammon are called together, and encamp in Gilead, and the sons of Israel are gathered together, and encamp in Mizpah.
Alors les enfants d'Ammon se rassemblèrent et campèrent à Galaad. Les enfants d'Israël se rassemblèrent et campèrent à Mitspa.
18 And the people — heads of Gilead — say one unto another, 'Who [is] the man that doth begin to fight against the Bene-Ammon? he is for head to all inhabitants of Gilead.'
Le peuple, les princes de Galaad, se dirent les uns aux autres: « Quel est l'homme qui commencera à combattre les enfants d'Ammon? Il sera le chef de tous les habitants de Galaad. »
