Joshua 7
1 And the sons of Israel commit a trespass in the devoted thing, and Achan, son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, taketh of the devoted thing, and the anger of Jehovah burneth against the sons of Israel.
Pero los hijos de Israel cometieron una transgresión en las cosas consagradas, pues Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá, tomó algunas de las cosas consagradas. Por eso la ira de Yahvé ardió contra los hijos de Israel.
2 And Joshua sendeth men from Jericho to Ai, which [is] near Beth-Aven, on the east of Bethel, and speaketh unto them, saying, 'Go up and spy the land;' and the men go up and spy Ai,
Josué envió hombres desde Jericó a Hai, que está junto a Bet-Aven, al este de Bet-El, y les habló diciendo: “Suban a espiar la tierra”. Los hombres subieron y divisaron a Hai.
3 and they turn back unto Joshua, and say unto him, 'Let not all the people go up; let about two thousand men, or about three thousand men, go up, and they smite Ai; cause not all the people to labour thither; for they [are] few.'
Volvieron a Josué y le dijeron: “No dejes subir a todo el pueblo, sino que suban unos dos o tres mil hombres y ataquen a Hai. No hagas que todo el pueblo trabaje allí, pues son pocos”.
4 And there go up of the people thither about three thousand men, and they flee before the men of Ai,
Subieron, pues, unos tres mil hombres del pueblo y huyeron ante los hombres de Hai.
5 and the men of Ai smite of them about thirty and six men, and pursue them before the gate unto Shebarim, and they smite them in Morad; and the heart of the people is melted, and becometh water.
Los hombres de Hai hirieron a unos treinta y seis hombres de ellos. Los persiguieron desde delante de la puerta hasta Sebarim, y los hirieron al bajar. El corazón del pueblo se derritió y se volvió como agua.
6 And Joshua rendeth his garments, and falleth on his face to the earth before the ark of Jehovah till the evening, he and the elders of Israel, and they cause dust to go up on their head.
Josué se rasgó las vestiduras y se postró en tierra sobre su rostro ante el arca de Yahvé hasta el atardecer, él y los ancianos de Israel, y se pusieron polvo en la cabeza.
7 And Joshua saith, 'Ah, Lord Jehovah, why hast Thou at all caused this people to pass over the Jordan, to give us into the hand of the Amorite to destroy us? — and oh that we had been willing — and we dwell beyond the Jordan!
Josué dijo: “Ay, Señor Yahvé, ¿por qué has hecho pasar a este pueblo por el Jordán, para entregarnos en manos de los amorreos y hacernos perecer? ¡Ojalá nos hubiéramos contentado y hubiéramos vivido más allá del Jordán!
8 Oh, Lord, what do I say, after that Israel hath turned the neck before its enemies?
Oh, Señor, ¿qué voy a decir, después de que Israel haya dado la espalda ante sus enemigos?
9 and the Canaanite and all the inhabitants of the land do hear, and have come round against us, and cut off our name out of the earth; and what dost Thou do for Thy great name?'
Porque los cananeos y todos los habitantes del país se enterarán, nos rodearán y borrarán nuestro nombre de la tierra. ¿Qué harás por tu gran nombre?”
10 And Jehovah saith unto Joshua, 'Rise for thee, why [is] this? — thou [art] falling on thy face?
Yahvé dijo a Josué: “¡Levántate! ¿Por qué has caído de bruces así?
11 Israel hath sinned, and also they have transgressed My covenant which I commanded them, and also taken of the devoted thing, and also stolen, and also deceived, and also put [it] among their vessels,
Israel ha pecado. Sí, incluso han transgredido mi pacto que les ordené. Sí, incluso han tomado algunas de las cosas consagradas, y también han robado, y también han engañado. Incluso han puesto entre sus propias cosas.
12 and the sons of Israel have not been able to stand before their enemies; the neck they turn before their enemies, for they have become a devoted thing; I add not to be with you — if ye destroy not the devoted thing out of your midst.
Por eso los hijos de Israel no pueden resistir ante sus enemigos. Dan la espalda ante sus enemigos, porque se han convertido en devotos para la destrucción. No estaré más con ustedes, a menos que destruyan las cosas consagradas de entre ustedes.
13 'Rise, sanctify the people, and thou hast said, Sanctify yourselves for to-morrow; for thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, A devoted thing [is] in thy midst, O Israel, thou art not able to stand before thine enemies till your turning aside of the devoted thing out of your midst;
¡Levántate! Santificad al pueblo y decid: ‘Santificaos para mañana, porque Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, dice: “Hay una cosa consagrada entre vosotros, Israel. No podrás resistir ante tus enemigos hasta que quites el objeto consagrado de en medio de ti”.
14 and ye have been brought near in the morning by your tribes, and it hath been, the tribe which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by families, and the family which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by households, and the household which Jehovah doth capture doth draw near by men;
Por lo tanto, por la mañana serás acercado por tus tribus. La tribu que Yahvé seleccione se acercará por familias. La familia que Yahvé seleccione se acercará por hogares. El hogar que el Señor seleccione se acercará por medio de hombres.
15 and it hath been, he who is captured with the devoted thing is burnt with fire, he and all that he hath, because he hath transgressed the covenant of Jehovah, and because he hath done folly in Israel.'
Será que el que sea tomado con lo consagrado será quemado con fuego, él y todo lo que tiene, porque ha transgredido el pacto de Yahvé y porque ha hecho una cosa vergonzosa en Israel.’”
16 And Joshua riseth early in the morning, and bringeth Israel near by its tribes, and the tribe of Judah is captured;
Entonces Josué se levantó de madrugada y acercó a Israel por sus tribus. Seleccionó la tribu de Judá.
17 and he bringeth near the family of Judah, and he captureth the family of the Zarhite; and he bringeth near the family of the Zarhite by men, and Zabdi is captured;
Acercó a la familia de Judá y seleccionó a la familia de los zeraítas. Acercó a la familia de los zeraítas hombre por hombre, y seleccionó a Zabdi.
18 and he bringeth near his household by men, and Achan — son of Carmi, son of Zabdi, son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah — is captured.
Acercó su familia hombre por hombre, y fue seleccionado Acán, hijo de Carmi, hijo de Zabdi, hijo de Zera, de la tribu de Judá.
19 And Joshua saith unto Achan, 'My son, put, I pray thee, honour on Jehovah, God of Israel, and give to Him thanks, and declare, I pray thee, to me, what thou hast done — hide not from me.'
Josué le dijo a Acán: “Hijo mío, por favor, da gloria a Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, y hazle una confesión. ¡Dime ahora lo que has hecho! No me lo ocultes”.
20 And Achan answereth Joshua, and saith, 'Truly I have sinned against Jehovah, God of Israel, and thus and thus I have done;
Acán respondió a Josué y dijo: “Verdaderamente he pecado contra Yahvé, el Dios de Israel, y esto es lo que he hecho.
21 and I see among the spoil a goodly robe of Shinar, and two hundred shekels of silver, and one wedge of gold, whose weight [is] fifty shekels, and I desire them, and take them; and lo, they [are] hid in the earth, in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.'
Cuando vi entre el botín un hermoso manto babilónico, doscientos siclos de plata, y una cuña de oro que pesaba cincuenta siclos, entonces los codicié y los tomé. He aquí que están escondidos en el suelo, en medio de mi tienda, con la plata debajo”.
22 And Joshua sendeth messengers, and they run unto the tent, and lo, it is hidden in his tent, and the silver under it;
Entonces Josué envió mensajeros, y éstos corrieron a la tienda. He aquí que estaba escondida en su tienda, con la plata debajo de ella.
23 and they take them out of the midst of the tent, and bring them in unto Joshua, and unto all the sons of Israel, and pour them out before Jehovah.
La sacaron de en medio de la tienda y la llevaron a Josué y a todos los hijos de Israel. Los depositaron ante el Señor.
24 And Joshua taketh Achan son of Zerah, and the silver, and the robe, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his ox, and his ass, and his flock, and his tent, and all that he hath, and all Israel with him, and they cause them to go up the valley of Achor.
Josué, y todo Israel con él, tomaron a Acán hijo de Zera, la plata, el manto, la cuña de oro, sus hijos, sus hijas, su ganado, sus asnos, sus ovejas, su tienda y todo lo que tenía; y los llevaron al valle de Acor.
25 And Joshua saith, 'What! thou hast troubled us! — Jehovah doth trouble thee this day;' and all Israel cast stones at him, and they burn them with fire, and they stone them with stones,
Josué les dijo: “¿Por qué nos han molestado? El Señor los molestará hoy”. Todo Israel lo apedreó, y los quemaron con fuego y los apedrearon.
26 and they raise up over him a great heap of stones unto this day, and Jehovah turneth back from the heat of His anger, therefore hath [one] called the name of that place 'Valley of Achor' till this day.
Levantaron sobre él un gran montón de piedras que permanece hasta hoy. El Señor se apartó del ardor de su ira. Por eso el nombre de aquel lugar se llamó hasta hoy “Valle de Acor”.
