Joshua 24
1 And Joshua gathereth all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and calleth for the elders of Israel, and for its heads, and for its judges, and for its authorities, and they station themselves before God.
Und Joschua versammelte alle Stämme Israels nach Schechem und rief den Ältesten Israels, seinen Häuptern und seinen Richtern und seinen Vorstehern, und sie stellten sich vor Gott;
2 And Joshua saith unto all the people, 'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, Beyond the River have your fathers dwelt of old — Terah father of Abraham and father of Nachor — and they serve other gods;
Und Joschua sprach zu dem ganzen Volke: So sprach Jehovah, der Gott Israels: Jenseits des Flusses wohnten vor Zeiten eure Väter Terach, der Vater Abrahams und der Vater Nachors und dienten anderen Göttern.
3 and I take your father Abraham from beyond the River, and cause him to go through all the land of Canaan, and multiply his seed, and give to him Isaac.
Und Ich nahm euren Vater Abraham von jenseits des Flusses und ließ ihn ziehen durch das ganze Land Kanaan und mehrte seinen Samen und gab ihm den Isaak.
4 And I give to Isaac, Jacob and Esau; and I give to Esau mount Seir, to possess it; and Jacob and his sons have gone down to Egypt.
Und dem Isaak gab Ich Jakob und Esau; und dem Esau gab Ich das Gebirge Seir, es erblich zu besitzen, und Jakob und seine Söhne gingen hinab nach Ägypten.
5 And I send Moses and Aaron, and plague Egypt, as I have done in its midst, and afterwards I have brought you out.
Und Ich sandte Mose und Aharon und schlug Ägypten. Wie Ich so getan in seiner Mitte, führte Ich euch danach aus;
6 And I bring out your fathers from Egypt, and ye go into the sea, and the Egyptians pursue after your fathers, with chariot and with horsemen, to the Red Sea;
Und Ich führte eure Väter aus von Ägypten, und ihr kamt an das Meer. Und die Ägypter setzten euren Vätern nach mit Streitwagen und Reitern an das Schilfmeer.
7 and they cry unto Jehovah, and He setteth thick darkness between you and the Egyptians, and bringeth on them the sea, and covereth them, and your eyes see that which I have done in Egypt; and ye dwell in a wilderness many days.
Und sie schrien zu Jehovah, und Er setzte Dunkelheit zwischen euch und die Ägypter, und brachte über sie das Meer herein, daß es sie bedeckte; und eure Augen sahen, was Ich an Ägypten getan, und viele Tage wohntet ihr in der Wüste.
8 'And I bring you in unto the land of the Amorite who is dwelling beyond the Jordan, and they fight with you, and I give them into your hand, and ye possess their land, and I destroy them out of your presence.
Und Ich brachte euch nach dem Lande des Amoriters, der jenseits des Jordan wohnte und sie stritten mit euch. Und Ich gab sie in eure Hand, und ihr nahmt ihr Land ein, und Ich vernichtete sie vor euch her.
9 'And Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, riseth and fighteth against Israel, and sendeth and calleth for Balaam son of Beor, to revile you,
Und Balak machte sich auf, der Sohn Zippors, Moabs König, und stritt mit Israel, und sandte und rief Bileam, Beors Sohn, daß er euch fluchete;
10 and I have not been willing to hearken to Balaam, and he doth greatly bless you, and I deliver you out of his hand.
Und Ich wollte nicht hören auf Bileam, und er segnete euch, und Ich errettete euch aus seiner Hand.
11 'And ye pass over the Jordan, and come in unto Jericho, and fight against you do the possessors of Jericho — the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Canaanite, and the Hittite, and the Girgashite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite — and I give them into your hand.
Und ihr setztet über den Jordan und kamt nach Jericho; und es stritten wider euch die Bürger von Jericho, der Amoriter und der Pherisiter und der Kanaaniter und der Chethiter und der Girgaschiter, der Chiviter und der Jebusiter, und Ich gab sie in eure Hand.
12 And I send before you the hornet, and it casteth them out from your presence — two kings of the Amorite — not by thy sword, nor by thy bow.
Und Ich sandte die Hornisse vor euch her und Ich trieb sie fort vor Euch, die zwei Könige des Amoriters, nicht mit deinem Schwert und nicht mit deinem Bogen.
13 'And I give to you a land for which thou hast not laboured, and cities which ye have not built, and ye dwell in them; of vineyards and olive-yards which ye have not planted ye are eating.
Und Ich habe euch ein Land gegeben, um das du dich nicht bemüht hast, und die Städte, die ihr nicht gebaut, und ihr wohnt darin; von Weinbergen und Ölgärten, die ihr nicht gepflanzt habt, esset ihr.
14 'And now, fear ye Jehovah, and serve Him, in perfection and in truth, and turn aside the gods which your fathers served beyond the River, and in Egypt, and serve ye Jehovah;
Und nun fürchtet Jehovah und dient Ihm untadelig und mit Treue, und wendet euch ab von den Göttern, denen eure Väter jenseits des Flusses und in Ägypten gedient, und dienet Jehovah!
15 and if wrong in your eyes to serve Jehovah — choose for you to-day whom ye do serve; — whether the gods whom your fathers served, which [are] beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorite in whose land ye are dwelling; and I and my house — we serve Jehovah.'
Ist es aber böse in euren Augen, daß ihr Jehovah dient, so erwählet heute für euch, wem ihr dienen wollt; ob den Göttern, denen eure Väter, die jenseits des Flusses waren, gedient, oder den Göttern des Amoriters, in dessen Lande ihr wohnt; ich aber und mein Haus, wir werden Jehovah dienen.
16 And the people answer and say, 'Far be it from us to forsake Jehovah, to serve other gods;
Und das Volk antwortete und sprach: Ferne sei von uns, daß wir Jehovah verließen, um anderen Göttern zu dienen.
17 for Jehovah our God [is] He who is bringing us and our fathers up out of the land of Egypt, out of a house of servants, and who hath done before our eyes these great signs, and doth keep us in all the way in which we have gone, and among all the peoples through whose midst we passed;
Ist es ja Jehovah, unser Gott, Der uns heraufgeführt und unsere Väter aus Ägyptenland und aus der Knechte Haus, und Der vor unseren Augen diese großen Zeichen getan und uns behütet hat auf dem ganzen Wege, auf dem wir gegangen, und unter allen Völkern, durch deren Mitte wir gezogen sind.
18 and Jehovah casteth out the whole of the peoples, even the Amorite inhabiting the land, from our presence; we also do serve Jehovah, for He [is] our God.'
Und Jehovah trieb fort vor uns alle die Völker und den Amoriter, der im Lande wohnte. Darum wollen auch wir Jehovah dienen; denn Er ist unser Gott.
19 And Joshua saith unto the people, 'Ye are not able to serve Jehovah, for a God most holy He [is]; a zealous God He [is]; He doth not bear with your transgression and with your sins.
Und Joschua sprach zu dem Volk: Ihr werdet Jehovah nicht zu dienen vermögen; denn Er ist ein heiliger Gott, ein eifernder Gott, Der euch eure Übertretungen und Sünden nicht verzeihen wird.
20 When ye forsake Jehovah, and have served gods of a stranger, then He hath turned back and done evil to you, and consumed you, after that He hath done good to you.'
Wenn ihr Jehovah verlasset und Göttern des Auslandes dient, so wird Er Sich zurückwenden und euch Übles tun und euch verzehren, nachdem Er euch Gutes getan hat.
21 And the people saith unto Joshua, 'No, but Jehovah we do serve.'
Und das Volk sprach zu Joschua: Nein, sondern Jehovah wollen wir dienen.
22 And Joshua saith unto the people, 'Witnesses ye are against yourselves, that ye have chosen for you Jehovah to serve Him (and they say, 'Witnesses!')
Und Joschua sprach zum Volk: Ihr selbst seid Zeugen gegen euch, daß ihr Jehovah für euch erwählt habt, Ihm zu dienen. Und sie sprachen: Wir sind Zeugen.
23 and, now, turn aside the gods of the stranger which [are] in your midst, and incline your heart unto Jehovah, God of Israel.'
Und nun tut weg von euch die Götter des Auslandes, die in eurer Mitte sind, und neigt euer Herz zu Jehovah, dem Gott Israels.
24 And the people say unto Joshua, 'Jehovah our God we serve, and to His voice we hearken.'
Und das Volk sprach zu Joschua: Jehovah, unserem Gott, werden wir dienen und auf Seine Stimme hören.
25 And Joshua maketh a covenant with the people on that day, and layeth on it a statute and an ordinance, in Shechem.
Und Joschua schloß selbigen Tages für das Volk einen Bund und setzte ihm Satzung und Recht in Schechem.
26 And Joshua writeth these words in the Book of the Law of God, and taketh a great stone, and raiseth it up there under the oak which [is] in the sanctuary of Jehovah.
Und Joschua schrieb diese Worte in das Buch des Gesetzes Gottes und nahm einen großen Stein und richtete ihn allda auf unter der Eiche, die am Heiligtum Jehovahs war.
27 And Joshua saith unto all the people, 'Lo, this stone is against us for a witness, for it hath heard all the sayings of Jehovah which He hath spoken with us, and it hath been against you for a witness, lest ye lie against your God.'
Und Joschua sprach zu allem Volk: Siehe, dieser Stein soll gegen uns zum Zeugen sein, daß er hörte all die Reden Jehovahs, die Er mit uns geredet hat, und soll zum Zeugen sein wider euch, auf daß ihr euren Gott nicht verleugnet.
28 And Joshua sendeth the people away, each to his inheritance.
Und Joschua entließ das Volk, jeden Mann in sein Erbe.
29 And it cometh to pass, after these things, that Joshua son of Nun, servant of Jehovah, dieth, a son of a hundred and ten years,
Und nach diesen Dingen geschah, daß Joschua, der Sohn Nuns, der Knecht Jehovahs, starb, einhundertzehn Jahre alt.
30 and they bury him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath-Serah, which [is] in the hill-country of Ephraim, on the north of the hill of Gaash.
Und sie begruben ihn in der Grenze seines Erbes in Timnath-Serach, auf dem Gebirge Ephraim, nördlich vom Berge Gaasch.
31 And Israel serveth Jehovah all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who prolonged days after Joshua, and who knew all the work of Jehovah which He did to Israel.
Und Israel diente Jehovah all die Tage Joschuas und all die Tage der Ältesten, deren Tage verlängert wurden nach Joschua, und die um alle Taten Jehovahs wußten, die Er für Israel tat.
32 And the bones of Joseph, which the sons of Israel brought up out of Egypt, they buried in Shechem, in the portion of the field which Jacob bought from the sons of Hamor father of Shechem, with a hundred kesitah; and they are to the sons of Joseph for an inheritance.
Und die Gebeine Josephs, welche die Söhne Israel aus Ägypten heraufgebracht, begruben sie in Schechem in dem Teile des Feldes, das Jakob von den Söhnen Chamors, des Vaters Schichems, um hundert Kesitah gekauft hatte, und sie waren Josephs Söhnen zum Erbe.
33 And Eleazar son of Aaron died, and they bury him in the hill of Phinehas his son, which was given to him in the hill-country of Ephraim.
Und Eleasar, der Sohn Aharons, starb, und sie begruben ihn in Gibeah des Pinechas, seines Sohnes, das ihm auf dem Gebirge Ephraims gegeben ward.
