John 3
1 And there was a man of the Pharisees, Nicodemus his name, a ruler of the Jews,
Ήτο δε άνθρωπός τις εκ των Φαρισαίων, Νικόδημος ονομαζόμενος, άρχων των Ιουδαίων.
2 this one came unto him by night, and said to him, 'Rabbi, we have known that from God thou hast come — a teacher, for no one these signs is able to do that thou dost, if God may not be with him.'
Ούτος ήλθε προς τον Ιησούν διά νυκτός και είπε προς αυτόν· Ραββί, εξεύρομεν ότι από Θεού ήλθες διδάσκαλος· διότι ουδείς δύναται να κάμνη τα σημεία ταύτα, τα οποία συ κάμνεις, εάν δεν ήναι ο Θεός μετ' αυτού.
3 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born from above, he is not able to see the reign of God;'
Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτόν· Αληθώς, αληθώς σοι λέγω, εάν τις δεν γεννηθή άνωθεν, δεν δύναται να ίδη την βασιλείαν του Θεού.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, 'How is a man able to be born, being old? is he able into the womb of his mother a second time to enter, and to be born?'
Λέγει προς αυτόν ο Νικόδημος· Πως δύναται άνθρωπος να γεννηθή γέρων ων; μήποτε δύναται να εισέλθη δευτέραν φοράν εις την κοιλίαν της μητρός αυτού και να γεννηθή;
5 Jesus answered, 'Verily, verily, I say to thee, If any one may not be born of water, and the Spirit, he is not able to enter into the reign of God;
Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς· Αληθώς, αληθώς σοι λέγω, εάν τις δεν γεννηθή εξ ύδατος και Πνεύματος, δεν δύναται να εισέλθη εις την βασιλείαν του Θεού.
6 that which hath been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which hath been born of the Spirit is spirit.
Το γεγεννημένον εκ της σαρκός είναι σαρξ και το γεγεννημένον εκ του Πνεύματος είναι πνεύμα.
7 'Thou mayest not wonder that I said to thee, It behoveth you to be born from above;
Μη θαυμάσης ότι σοι είπον, Πρέπει να γεννηθήτε άνωθεν.
8 the Spirit where he willeth doth blow, and his voice thou dost hear, but thou hast not known whence he cometh, and whither he goeth; thus is every one who hath been born of the Spirit.'
Ο άνεμος όπου θέλει πνέει, και την φωνήν αυτού ακούεις, αλλά δεν εξεύρεις πόθεν έρχεται και που υπάγει· ούτως είναι πας, όστις εγεννήθη εκ του Πνεύματος.
9 Nicodemus answered and said to him, 'How are these things able to happen?'
Απεκρίθη ο Νικόδημος και είπε προς αυτόν· Πως δύνανται να γείνωσι ταύτα;
10 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Thou art the teacher of Israel — and these things thou dost not know!
Απεκρίθη ο Ιησούς και είπε προς αυτόν· Συ είσαι ο διδάσκαλος του Ισραήλ και ταύτα δεν εξεύρεις;
11 'Verily, verily, I say to thee — What we have known we speak, and what we have seen we testify, and our testimony ye do not receive;
Αληθώς, αληθώς σοι λέγω ότι εκείνο το οποίον εξεύρομεν λαλούμεν και εκείνο το οποίον είδομεν μαρτυρούμεν, και την μαρτυρίαν ημών δεν δέχεσθε.
12 if the earthly things I said to you, and ye do not believe, how, if I shall say to you the heavenly things, will ye believe?
Εάν τα επίγεια σας είπον και δεν πιστεύητε, πως, εάν σας είπω τα επουράνια, θέλετε πιστεύσει;
13 and no one hath gone up to the heaven, except he who out of the heaven came down — the Son of Man who is in the heaven.
Και ουδείς ανέβη εις τον ουρανόν ειμή ο καταβάς εκ του ουρανού, ο Υιός του ανθρώπου, ο ων εν τω ουρανώ.
14 'And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up,
Και καθώς ο Μωϋσής ύψωσε τον όφιν εν τη ερήμω, ούτω πρέπει να υψωθή ο Υιός του ανθρώπου,
15 that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during, (aiōnios g166)
διά να μη απολεσθή πας ο πιστεύων εις αυτόν, αλλά να έχη ζωήν αιώνιον. (aiōnios g166)
16 for God did so love the world, that His Son — the only begotten — He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during. (aiōnios g166)
Διότι τόσον ηγάπησεν ο Θεός τον κόσμον, ώστε έδωκε τον Υιόν αυτού τον μονογενή, διά να μη απολεσθή πας ο πιστεύων εις αυτόν, αλλά να έχη ζωήν αιώνιον. (aiōnios g166)
17 For God did not send His Son to the world that he may judge the world, but that the world may be saved through him;
Επειδή δεν απέστειλεν ο Θεός τον Υιόν αυτού εις τον κόσμον διά να κρίνη τον κόσμον, αλλά διά να σωθή ο κόσμος δι' αυτού.
18 he who is believing in him is not judged, but he who is not believing hath been judged already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Όστις πιστεύει εις αυτόν δεν κρίνεται, όστις όμως δεν πιστεύει είναι ήδη κεκριμένος, διότι δεν επίστευσεν εις το όνομα του μονογενούς Υιού του Θεού.
19 'And this is the judgment, that the light hath come to the world, and men did love the darkness rather than the light, for their works were evil;
Και αύτη είναι η κρίσις, ότι το φως ήλθεν εις τον κόσμον, και οι άνθρωποι ηγάπησαν το σκότος μάλλον παρά το φώς· διότι ήσαν πονηρά τα έργα αυτών.
20 for every one who is doing wicked things hateth the light, and doth not come unto the light, that his works may not be detected;
Επειδή πας, όστις πράττει φαύλα, μισεί το φως και δεν έρχεται εις το φως, διά να μη ελεγχθώσι τα έργα αυτού·
21 but he who is doing the truth doth come to the light, that his works may be manifested, that in God they are having been wrought.'
όστις όμως πράττει την αλήθειαν, έρχεται εις το φως, διά να φανερωθώσι τα έργα αυτού ότι επράχθησαν κατά Θεόν.
22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples to the land of Judea, and there he did tarry with them, and was baptizing;
Μετά ταύτα ήλθεν ο Ιησούς και οι μαθηταί αυτού εις την γην της Ιουδαίας, και εκεί διέτριβε μετ' αυτών και εβάπτιζεν.
23 and John was also baptizing in Aenon, nigh to Salem, because there were many waters there, and they were coming and were being baptized —
Ήτο δε και ο Ιωάννης βαπτίζων εν Αινών πλησίον του Σαλείμ, διότι ήσαν εκεί ύδατα πολλά, και ήρχοντο και εβαπτίζοντο·
24 for John was not yet cast into the prison —
Επειδή ο Ιωάννης δεν ήτο έτι βεβλημένος εις την φυλακήν.
25 there arose then a question from the disciples of John with [some] Jews about purifying,
Έγεινε λοιπόν συζήτησις περί καθαρισμού παρά των μαθητών του Ιωάννου με Ιουδαίους τινάς.
26 and they came unto John, and said to him, 'Rabbi, he who was with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou didst testify, lo, this one is baptizing, and all are coming unto him.'
Και ήλθον προς τον Ιωάννην και είπον προς αυτόν· Ραββί, εκείνος όστις ήτο μετά σου πέραν του Ιορδάνου, εις τον οποίον συ εμαρτύρησας, ιδού, ούτος βαπτίζει και πάντες έρχονται προς αυτόν.
27 John answered and said, 'A man is not able to receive anything, if it may not have been given him from the heaven;
Απεκρίθη ο Ιωάννης και είπε· Δεν δύναται ο άνθρωπος να λαμβάνη ουδέν, εάν δεν ήναι δεδομένον εις αυτόν εκ του ουρανού.
28 ye yourselves do testify to me that I said, I am not the Christ, but, that I am having been sent before him;
Σεις αυτοί είσθε μάρτυρές μου ότι είπον· Δεν είμαι εγώ ο Χριστός, αλλ' ότι είμαι απεσταλμένος έμπροσθεν εκείνου.
29 he who is having the bride is bridegroom, and the friend of the bridegroom, who is standing and hearing him, with joy doth rejoice because of the voice of the bridegroom; this, then, my joy hath been fulfilled.
Όστις έχει την νύμφην είναι νυμφίος· ο δε φίλος του νυμφίου, ο ιστάμενος και ακούων αυτόν, χαίρει καθ' υπερβολήν διά την φωνήν του νυμφίου. Αύτη λοιπόν η χαρά η ιδική μου επληρώθη.
30 'Him it behoveth to increase, and me to become less;
Εκείνος πρέπει να αυξάνη, εγώ δε να ελαττόνωμαι.
31 he who from above is coming is above all; he who is from the earth, from the earth he is, and from the earth he speaketh; he who from the heaven is coming is above all.
Ο ερχόμενος άνωθεν είναι υπεράνω πάντων. Ο ων εκ της γης εκ της γης είναι και εκ της γης λαλεί· ο ερχόμενος εκ του ουρανού είναι υπεράνω πάντων,
32 'And what he hath seen and heard this he doth testify, and his testimony none receiveth;
και εκείνο το οποίον είδε και ήκουσε, τούτο μαρτυρεί, και ουδείς δέχεται την μαρτυρίαν αυτού.
33 he who is receiving his testimony did seal that God is true;
Όστις δεχθή την μαρτυρίαν αυτού επεσφράγισεν ότι ο Θεός είναι αληθής.
34 for he whom God sent, the sayings of God he speaketh; for not by measure doth God give the Spirit;
Διότι εκείνος, τον οποίον απέστειλεν ο Θεός, τους λόγους του Θεού λαλεί· επειδή ο Θεός δεν δίδει εις αυτόν το Πνεύμα με μέτρον.
35 the Father doth love the Son, and all things hath given into his hand;
Ο Πατήρ αγαπά τον Υιόν και πάντα έδωκεν εις την χείρα αυτού.
36 he who is believing in the Son, hath life age-during; and he who is not believing the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God doth remain upon him.' (aiōnios g166)
Όστις πιστεύει εις τον Υιόν έχει ζωήν αιώνιον· όστις όμως απειθεί εις τον Υιόν δεν θέλει ιδεί ζωήν, αλλ' η οργή του Θεού μένει επάνω αυτού. (aiōnios g166)
