John 19
1 Then, therefore, did Pilate take Jesus and scourge [him],
Entonces Pilato llevó a Jesús y mandó que lo azotaran.
2 and the soldiers having plaited a crown of thorns, did place [it] on his head, and a purple garment they put around him,
Los soldados hicieron una corona de espinas y la pusieron sobre su cabeza, y lo vistieron con una túnica de color púrpura.
3 and said, 'Hail! the king of the Jews;' and they were giving him slaps.
Una y otra vez iban a él y le decían: “¡Oh, Rey de los Judíos!” y lo abofeteaban.
4 Pilate, therefore, again went forth without, and saith to them, 'Lo, I do bring him to you without, that ye may know that in him I find no fault;'
Pilato salió una vez más y les dijo: “Lo traeré aquí para que sepan que no lo encuentro culpable de ningún crimen”.
5 Jesus, therefore, came forth without, bearing the thorny crown and the purple garment; and he saith to them, 'Lo, the man!'
Entonces Jesús salió usando la corona de espinas y la túnica de color púrpura. “Miren, aquí está el hombre”, dijo Pilato.
6 When, therefore, the chief priests and the officers did see him, they cried out, saying, 'Crucify, crucify;' Pilate saith to them, 'Take ye him — ye, and crucify; for I find no fault in him;'
Cuando el jefe de los sacerdotes y los guardias vieron a Jesús, gritaron: “¡Crucifícale! ¡Crucifícale!” “Llévenselo ustedes y crucifíquenlo”, respondió Pilato. “Yo no le hallo culpable”.
7 the Jews answered him, 'We have a law, and according to our law he ought to die, for he made himself Son of God.'
Los líderes judíos respondieron: “Tenemos una ley, y de acuerdo a esa ley, él debe morir porque se proclamó a sí mismo como el Hijo de Dios”.
8 When, therefore, Pilate heard this word, he was the more afraid,
Cuando Pilato escuchó esto, tuvo más temor que nunca antes
9 and entered again to the praetorium, and saith to Jesus, 'Whence art thou?' and Jesus gave him no answer.
y regresó al palacio del gobernador. Pilato le preguntó a Jesús, “¿De dónde vienes?” Pero Jesús no respondió.
10 Pilate, therefore, saith to him, 'To me dost thou not speak? hast thou not known that I have authority to crucify thee, and I have authority to release thee?'
“¿Estás negándote a hablarme?” le dijo Pilato. “¿No te das cuenta de que tengo el poder para liberarte o crucificarte?”
11 Jesus answered, 'Thou wouldest have no authority against me, if it were not having been given thee from above; because of this, he who is delivering me up to thee hath greater sin.'
“Tú no tendrías ningún poder a menos que se te conceda desde arriba”, le respondió Jesús. “Así que el que me entregó en tus manos es culpable de mayor pecado”.
12 From this [time] was Pilate seeking to release him, and the Jews were crying out, saying, 'If this one thou mayest release, thou art not a friend of Caesar; every one making himself a king, doth speak against Caesar.'
Cuando Pilato escuchó esto, trató de liberar a Jesús, pero los líderes judíos gritaban: “Si liberas a este hombre, no eres amigo del César. Cualquiera que se proclama a sí mismo como rey, se rebela contra el César”.
13 Pilate, therefore, having heard this word, brought Jesus without — and he sat down upon the tribunal — to a place called, 'Pavement,' and in Hebrew, Gabbatha;
Cuando Pilato escuchó esto, trajo a Jesús afuera y se sentó en el tribunal, en un lugar que se llamaba El Enlosado (“Gabata” en Hebreo).
14 and it was the preparation of the passover, and as it were the sixth hour, and he saith to the Jews, 'Lo, your king!'
Era casi la tarde del día de preparación para la Pascua. “Miren, aquí tienen a su rey”, le dijo a los judíos.
15 and they cried out, 'Take away, take away, crucify him;' Pilate saith to them, 'Your king shall I crucify?' the chief priests answered, 'We have no king except Caesar.'
“¡Mátalo! ¡Mátalo! ¡Crucifícalo!” gritaban ellos. “¿Quieren que crucifique a su rey?” preguntó Pilato. “El único rey que tenemos es el César”, respondieron los jefes de los sacerdotes.
16 Then, therefore, he delivered him up to them, that he may be crucified, and they took Jesus and led [him] away,
Entonces Pilato les entregó a Jesús para que lo crucificaran.
17 and bearing his cross, he went forth to the place called [Place] of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew Golgotha;
Ellos condujeron a Jesús fuera de allí, cargando él su propia cruz, y se dirigió al lugar llamado “La Calavera”, (Gólgota en hebreo).
18 where they crucified him, and with him two others, on this side, and on that side, and Jesus in the midst.
Lo crucificaron allí, y a otros dos con él: uno a cada lado, poniendo a Jesús en medio de ellos.
19 And Pilate also wrote a title, and put [it] on the cross, and it was written, 'Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews;'
Pilato mandó a poner un letrero en la cruz que decía: “Jesús de Nazaret, el Rey de los Judíos”.
20 this title, therefore, read many of the Jews, because the place was nigh to the city where Jesus was crucified, and it was having been written in Hebrew, in Greek, in Roman.
Muchas personas leyeron el letrero porque el lugar donde Jesús fue crucificado estaba cerca de la ciudad, y estaba escrito en hebreo, latín y griego.
21 The chief priests of the Jews said, therefore, to Pilate, 'Write not — The king of the Jews, but that one said, I am king of the Jews;'
Entonces los jefes de los sacerdotes se acercaron a Pilato y le dijeron “No escribas ‘el Rey de los Judíos,’ sino ‘Este hombre decía: Yo soy el Rey de los Judíos’”.
22 Pilate answered, 'What I have written, I have written.'
Pilato respondió: “Lo que escribí, ya está escrito”.
23 The soldiers, therefore, when they did crucify Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to each soldier a part, also the coat, and the coat was seamless, from the top woven throughout,
Cuando los soldados hubieron crucificado a Jesús, tomaron sus ropas y las dividieron en cuatro partes a fin de que cada soldado tuviera una. También estaba allí su túnica hecha sin costuras, tejida en una sola pieza.
24 they said, therefore, to one another, 'We may not rend it, but cast a lot for it, whose it shall be;' that the Writing might be fulfilled, that is saying, 'They divided my garments to themselves, and upon my raiment they did cast a lot;' the soldiers, therefore, indeed, did these things.
Entonces ellos se dijeron unos a otros: “No la botemos, sino decidamos quién se quedará con ella lanzando un dado”. Esto cumplía la Escritura que dice: “Dividieron mis vestidos entre ellos y lanzaron un dado por mis vestiduras”.
25 And there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary of Cleopas, and Mary the Magdalene;
Y así lo hicieron. Junto a la cruz estaba la madre de Jesús, la hermana de su madre, María la esposa de Cleofás y María Magdalena.
26 Jesus, therefore, having seen [his] mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he was loving, he saith to his mother, 'Woman, lo, thy son;'
Cuando Jesús vio a su madre, y al discípulo que él amaba junto a ella, le dijo a su madre: “Madre, este es tu hijo”.
27 afterward he saith to the disciple, 'Lo, thy mother;' and from that hour the disciple took her to his own [home].
Luego le dijo al discípulo: “Esta es tu madre”. Desde ese momento el discípulo se la llevó a su casa.
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things now have been finished, that the Writing may be fulfilled, saith, 'I thirst;'
Jesús se dio cuenta entonces que había completado todo lo que había venido a hacer. En cumplimiento de la Escritura, dijo: “Tengo sed”.
29 a vessel, therefore, was placed full of vinegar, and they having filled a sponge with vinegar, and having put [it] around a hyssop stalk, did put [it] to his mouth;
Y allí había una tinaja llena de vinagre de vino; así que ellos mojaron una esponja en el vinagre, la pusieron en una vara de hisopo, y la acercaron a sus labios.
30 when, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, he said, 'It hath been finished;' and having bowed the head, gave up the spirit.
Después que bebió el vinagre, Jesús dijo: “¡Está terminado!” Entonces inclinó su cabeza y dio su último respiro.
31 The Jews, therefore, that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, since it was the preparation, (for that sabbath day was a great one, ) asked of Pilate that their legs may be broken, and they taken away.
Era el día de la preparación, y los líderes judíos no querían dejar los cuerpos en la cruz durante el día sábado (de hecho, este era un sábado especial), así que le pidieron a Pilato que mandara a partirles las piernas para poder quitar los cuerpos.
32 The soldiers, therefore, came, and of the first indeed they did break the legs, and of the other who was crucified with him,
Entonces los soldados vinieron y partieron las piernas del primero y luego del otro, de los dos hombres crucificados con Jesús,
33 and having come to Jesus, when they saw him already having been dead, they did not break his legs;
pero cuando se acercaron a Jesús, vieron que ya estaba muerto, así que no le partieron sus piernas.
34 but one of the soldiers with a spear did pierce his side, and immediately there came forth blood and water;
Sin embargo, uno de los soldados clavó una lanza en su costado, y salió sangre mezclada con agua.
35 and he who hath seen hath testified, and his testimony is true, and that one hath known that true things he speaketh, that ye also may believe.
El que vio esto dio testimonio de ello, y su testimonio es verdadero. Él está seguro de que lo que dice es verdadero a fin de que ustedes crean también.
36 For these things came to pass, that the Writing may be fulfilled, 'A bone of him shall not be broken;'
Ocurrió así para que se cumpliera la Escritura: “Ninguno de sus huesos será partido”,
37 and again another Writing saith, 'They shall look to him whom they did pierce.'
y como dice otra Escritura: “Ellos mirarán al que traspasaron”.
38 And after these things did Joseph of Arimathea — being a disciple of Jesus, but concealed, through the fear of the Jews — ask of Pilate, that he may take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave leave; he came, therefore, and took away the body of Jesus,
Después de esto, José de Arimatea le preguntó a Pilato si podría bajar el cuerpo de Jesús, y Pilato le dio su permiso. José era un discípulo de Jesús, pero en secreto porque tenía miedo de los judíos. Así que José fue y se llevó el cuerpo.
39 and Nicodemus also came — who came unto Jesus by night at the first — bearing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, as it were, a hundred pounds.
Con él estaba Nicodemo, el hombre que había visitado de noche a Jesús anteriormente. Él trajo consigo una mezcla de mirra y aloes que pesaba aproximadamente setenta y cinco libras.
40 They took, therefore, the body of Jesus, and bound it with linen clothes with the spices, according as it was the custom of the Jews to prepare for burial;
Ellos se llevaron el cuerpo de Jesús y lo envolvieron en un paño de lino junto con la mezcla de especias, conforme a la costumbre judía de sepultura. Cerca del lugar donde Jesús había sido crucificado, había un jardín;
41 and there was in the place where he was crucified a garden, and in the garden a new tomb, in which no one was yet laid;
y en ese jardín había una tumba nueva, sin usar.
42 there, therefore, because of the preparation of the Jews, because the tomb was nigh, they laid Jesus.
Como era el día de la preparación y la tumba estaba cerca, ellos pusieron allí a Jesús.
