Joel 3
1 For lo, in those days, and in that time, When I turn back [to] the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
Want zie, in die dagen en in die tijd, Waarin Ik het lot van Juda, En het lot van Jerusalem ten beste zal keren,
2 Then I have gathered all the nations, And caused them to go down unto the valley of Jehoshaphat, And I have been judged with them there, Concerning My people and Mine inheritance — Israel, Whom they scattered among nations, And My land they have apportioned.
Drijf Ik alle heidenen te hoop; In het Dal van Josafat zal Ik ze voeren, En daar oordeel over hen houden! Omdat ze mijn volk, en Israël mijn erfdeel, Onder de heidenen hebben verstrooid; Mijn land onder elkander verdeeld,
3 And for My people they do cast a lot, And they give the young man for an harlot, And the young woman have sold for wine, That they may drink.
En over mijn volk het lot geworpen; Den knaap hebben verruild voor een deerne, Het meisje verkocht voor wijn, om te brassen.
4 And also, what [are] ye to Me, O Tyre and Zidon, And all circuits of Philistia? Recompence are ye rendering unto Me? And if ye are giving recompence to Me, Swiftly, hastily, I turn back your recompence on your head.
Wat wilt ge van Mij, Tyrus en Sidon, En gij allen, Filistijnse gewesten? Wilt ge vergelding aan Mij oefenen, Of u wreken op Mij? Bliksemsnel stort Ik uw wraak Op uw eigen hoofd terug!
5 In that My silver and My gold ye took, And My desirable things that are good, Ye have brought in to your temples.
Ge hebt mijn zilver geroofd en mijn goud, Mijn kostbaarste schatten naar uw paleizen gesleept;
6 And sons of Judah, and sons of Jerusalem, Ye have sold to the sons of Javan, To put them far off from their border.
De zonen van Juda en Jerusalem Aan de Grieken verkocht, Om ze weg te voeren Ver van hun land.
7 Lo, I am stirring them up out of the place Whither ye have sold them, And I have turned back your recompence on your head,
Zie, Ik roep ze op van de plaats, waarheen gij ze verkocht, Maar uw gedrag stort Ik terug op uw eigen hoofd:
8 And have sold your sons and your daughters Into the hand of the sons of Judah, And they have sold them to Shabeans, Unto a nation far off, for Jehovah hath spoken.
Aan de kinderen van Juda verkoop Ik uw zonen en dochters; Zij zullen ze weer aan de Sjabeërs verkopen Voor een ver verwijderd volk: Waarachtig, Jahweh heeft het gezegd!
9 Proclaim ye this among nations, Sanctify a war, stir up the mighty ones, Come nigh, come up, let all the men of war.
Kondigt het onder de heidenen af: Maakt u gereed voor de heilige strijd; Werft sterke mannen aan! Oorlogsmannen, treedt aan; rukt allen vooruit;
10 Beat your ploughshares to swords, And your pruning-hooks to javelins, Let the weak say, 'I [am] mighty.'
Smeedt uw ploegen om tot zwaarden, Uw sikkels tot lansen! Zelfs de zwakke moet zeggen: Ik ben een held!
11 Haste, and come in, all ye nations round, And be gathered together, Thither cause to come down, O Jehovah, Thy mighty ones.
Vooruit, gij allen, u gehaast, Omliggende volken, Sluit de rangen aaneen: Jahweh, breng daar uw strijders bijeen!
12 Wake and come up let the nations unto the valley of Jehoshaphat, For there I sit to judge all the nations around.
Op heidenen; op naar het Dal van Josafat; Want daar zit Ik ten oordeel over alle omliggende volken!
13 Send ye forth a sickle, For ripened hath harvest, Come in, come down, for filled hath been the press, Overflowed hath wine-presses, For great [is] their wickedness.
Slaat de sikkel erin, want de oogst is rijp, Gaat treden, want de perskuip is vol; De bakken vloeien over, Want hun boosheid is groot!
14 Multitudes, multitudes [are] in the valley of decision, For near [is] the day of Jehovah in the valley of decision.
Drommen, drommen in het Dal der Beslissing; Want Jahweh’s dag is nabij in het Dal der Beslissing!
15 Sun and moon have been black, And stars have gathered up their shining.
Zon en maan verduisteren, De sterren trekken haar glans terug;
16 And Jehovah from Zion doth roar, And from Jerusalem giveth forth His voice, And shaken have the heavens and earth, And Jehovah [is] a refuge to his people, And a stronghold to sons of Israel.
Jahweh buldert uit Sion, dondert uit Jerusalem: Hemel en aarde beven ervan! Maar voor zijn volk is Jahweh een toevlucht, Een burcht voor Israëls zonen.
17 And ye have known that I [am] Jehovah your God, Dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain, And Jerusalem hath been holy, And strangers do not pass over into it again.
Dan zult ge weten, dat Ik, Jahweh, uw God ben, Dat Ik woon op de Sion, mijn heilige berg; Dan zal Jerusalem heilig wezen, Geen vreemdeling komt er meer in!
18 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Drop down do the mountains juice, And the hills do flow [with] milk, And all streams of Judah do go [with] water, And a fountain from the house of Jehovah goeth forth, And hath watered the valley of Shittim.
Op die dag druipen de bergen van wijn, Vloeien de heuvelen van melk, En al de beken van Juda Stromen over van water. Een bron zal uit het huis van Jahweh ontspringen, En zelfs het Sjittim-dal besproeien!
19 Egypt a desolation becometh, And Edom a desolation, a wilderness, becometh, For violence [to] sons of Judah, Whose innocent blood they shed in their land.
Egypte zal een steppe worden, Edom een dorre woestijn; Omdat ze Juda’s kinderen hebben mishandeld, Onschuldig bloed in hun land hebben vergoten.
20 And Judah to the age doth dwell, And Jerusalem to generation and generation.
Maar Juda zal in eeuwigheid blijven bestaan, Jerusalem van geslacht tot geslacht;
21 And I have declared their blood innocent, [That] I did not declare innocent, And Jehovah is dwelling in Zion!
hun bloed laat Ik niet ongewroken: Ik, Jahweh, blijf wonen op Sion!
