< Job 5 >
1 Pray, call, is there any to answer thee? And unto which of the holy ones dost thou turn?
“Ó jẹ́ pé nísinsin yìí bí ẹnìkan bá wà tí yóò dá wa lóhùn? Tàbí ta ni nínú àwọn ènìyàn mímọ́ tí ìwọ ó yípadà sí?
2 For provocation slayeth the perverse, And envy putteth to death the simple,
Nítorí pé ìbínú pa aláìmòye, ìrunú a sì pa òpè ènìyàn.
3 I — I have seen the perverse taking root, And I mark his habitation straightway,
Èmi ti rí aláìmòye ti ó ta gbọ̀nọ́ngbọ̀nọ́n lulẹ̀, ṣùgbọ́n lójúkan náà mo fi ibùjókòó rẹ̀ bú.
4 Far are his sons from safety, And they are bruised in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
Àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ kò jìnnà sí ewu, a sì tẹ̀ wọ́n mọ́lẹ̀ lójú ibodè, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sí aláàbò kan.
5 Whose harvest the hungry doth eat, And even from the thorns taketh it, And the designing swallowed their wealth.
Ìkórè oko ẹni tí àwọn tí ebi ń pa sọ̀ di jíjẹ, tí wọ́n sì wọ inú ẹ̀gún lọ kó, àwọn ìgárá ọlọ́ṣà sì gbé ohun ìní wọn mì.
6 For sorrow cometh not forth from the dust, Nor from the ground springeth up misery.
Bí ìpọ́njú kò bá ti inú erùpẹ̀ jáde wá ni, tí ìyọnu kò ti ilẹ̀ jáde wá.
7 For man to misery is born, And the sparks go high to fly.
Ṣùgbọ́n a bí ènìyàn sínú wàhálà, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ìpẹ́pẹ́ iná ti máa ń ta sókè.
8 Yet I — I inquire for God, And for God I give my word,
“Ṣùgbọ́n bí ó ṣe tèmi, ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run ní èmi yóò ti ṣìpẹ̀, ní ọwọ́ Ọlọ́run ní èmi yóò máa fi ọ̀rọ̀ mi lé.
9 Doing great things, and there is no searching. Wonderful, till there is no numbering.
Ẹni tí ó ṣe ohun tí ó tóbi tí a kò lè ṣe àwárí, ohun ìyanu láìní iye.
10 Who is giving rain on the face of the land, And is sending waters on the out-places.
Tí ń rọ̀jò sí orí ilẹ̀ ayé tí ó sì ń rán omi sínú ilẹ̀kílẹ̀.
11 To set the low on a high place, And the mourners have been high [in] safety.
Láti gbé àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè lékè kí á lè gbé àwọn ẹni ìbànújẹ́ ga sí ibi aláìléwu.
12 Making void thoughts of the subtile, And their hands do not execute wisdom.
Ó yí ìmọ̀ àwọn alárékérekè po, bẹ́ẹ̀ ní ọwọ́ wọn kò lè mú ìdáwọ́lé wọn ṣẹ.
13 Capturing the wise in their subtilty, And the counsel of wrestling ones was hastened,
Ó mú àwọn ọlọ́gbọ́n nínú àrékérekè ara wọn, àti ìmọ̀ àwọn òǹrorò ní ó tì ṣubú ní ògèdèǹgbé.
14 By day they meet darkness, And as night — they grope at noon.
Wọ́n sáré wọ inú òkùnkùn ní ọ̀sán; wọ́n sì fọwọ́ tálẹ̀ ní ọ̀sán gangan bí ẹni pé ní òru ni.
15 And He saveth the wasted from their mouth, And from a strong hand the needy,
Ṣùgbọ́n ó gba tálákà là ní ọwọ́ idà, lọ́wọ́ ẹnu wọn àti lọ́wọ́ àwọn alágbára.
16 And there is hope to the poor, And perverseness hath shut her mouth.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìrètí wà fún tálákà, àìṣòótọ́ sì pa ẹnu rẹ̀ mọ́.
17 Lo, the happiness of mortal man, God doth reprove him: And the chastisement of the Mighty despise not,
“Kíyèsi i, ìbùkún ni fún ẹni tí Ọlọ́run bá wí, nítorí náà, má ṣe gan ìbáwí Olódùmarè.
18 For He doth pain, and He bindeth up, He smiteth, and His hands heal.
Nítorí pé òun a máa pa ni lára, síbẹ̀ òun a sì tún dì í ní ìdì ìtura, ó sá lọ́gbẹ́, a sì fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ di ojú ọgbẹ̀ náà jiná.
19 In six distresses He delivereth thee, And in seven evil striketh not on thee.
Yóò gbà ọ́ nínú ìpọ́njú mẹ́fà, àní nínú méje, ibi kan kì yóò bá ọ.
20 In famine He hath redeemed thee from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword.
Nínú ìyanu yóò gbà ọ́ lọ́wọ́ ikú àti nínú ogun, yóò gbà ọ́ lọ́wọ́ idà.
21 When the tongue scourgeth thou art hid, And thou art not afraid of destruction, When it cometh.
A ó pa ọ́ mọ́ kúrò lọ́wọ́ iná ahọ́n, bẹ́ẹ̀ ní ìwọ kì yóò bẹ̀rù ìparun tí ó bá dé.
22 At destruction and at hunger thou mockest, And of the beast of the earth, Thou art not afraid.
Ìwọ yóò rẹ́rìn-ín nínú ìparun àti ìyàn, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ìwọ kì yóò bẹ̀rù ẹranko ilẹ̀ ayé.
23 (For with sons of the field [is] thy covenant, And the beast of the field Hath been at peace with thee.)
Nítorí pé ìwọ ti bá òkúta igbó mulẹ̀, àwọn ẹranko igbó yóò wà pẹ̀lú rẹ ní àlàáfíà.
24 And thou hast known that thy tent [is] peace, And inspected thy habitation, and errest not,
Ìwọ ó sì mọ̀ pé àlàáfíà ni ibùjókòó rẹ wà, ìwọ yóò sì máa ṣe ìbẹ̀wò ibùjókòó rẹ, ìwọ kì yóò ṣìnà.
25 And hast known that numerous [is] Thy seed, And thine offspring as the herb of the earth;
Ìwọ ó sì mọ̀ pẹ̀lú pé irú-ọmọ rẹ ó sì pọ̀ àti àwọn ọmọ ọmọ rẹ yóò rí bí koríko igbó.
26 Thou comest in full age unto the grave, As the going up of a stalk in its season.
Ìwọ yóò wọ isà òkú rẹ ní ògbólógbòó ọjọ́, bí síírí ọkà tí ó gbó tí á sì kó ní ìgbà ìkórè rẹ̀.
27 Lo, this — we searched it out — it [is] right, hearken; And thou, know for thyself!
“Kíyèsi i, àwa ti wádìí rẹ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀ ní ó rí! Gbà á gbọ́, kí o sì mọ̀ pé fún ìre ara rẹ ni.”
