< Job 40 >
1 And Jehovah doth answer Job, and saith: —
and to answer LORD [obj] Job and to say
2 Is the striver with the Mighty instructed? The reprover of God, let him answer it.
to contend with Almighty faultfinder to rebuke god to answer her
3 And Job answereth Jehovah, and saith: —
and to answer Job [obj] LORD and to say
4 Lo, I have been vile, What do I return to Thee? My hand I have placed on my mouth.
look! to lighten what? to return: reply you hand my to set: put upon lip my
5 Once I have spoken, and I answer not, And twice, and I add not.
one to speak: speak and not to answer and two and not to add: again
6 And Jehovah answereth Job out of the whirlwind, and saith: —
and to answer LORD [obj] Job (from *Q(K)*) (tempest *Q(k)*) and to say
7 Gird, I pray thee, as a man, thy loins, I ask thee, and cause thou Me to know.
to gird please like/as great man loin your to ask you and to know me
8 Dost thou also make void My judgment? Dost thou condemn Me, That thou mayest be righteous?
also to break justice: judgement my be wicked me because to justify
9 And an arm like God hast thou? And with a voice like Him dost thou thunder?
and if: surely yes arm like/as God to/for you and in/on/with voice like him to thunder
10 Put on, I pray thee, excellency and loftiness, Yea, honour and beauty put on.
to adorn please pride and height and splendor and glory to clothe
11 Scatter abroad the wrath of thine anger, And see every proud one, and make him low.
to scatter fury face: anger your and to see: see all proud and to abase him
12 See every proud one — humble him, And tread down the wicked in their place.
to see: see all proud be humble him and to tread down wicked underneath: stand them
13 Hide them in the dust together, Their faces bind in secret.
to hide them in/on/with dust unitedness face their to saddle/tie in/on/with to hide
14 And even I — I do praise thee, For thy right hand giveth salvation to thee.
and also I to give thanks you for to save to/for you right your
15 Lo, I pray thee, Behemoth, that I made with thee: Grass as an ox he eateth.
behold please Behemoth which to make with you grass like/as cattle to eat
16 Lo, I pray thee, his power [is] in his loins, And his strength in the muscles of his belly.
behold please strength his in/on/with loin his and strength his in/on/with muscle belly: abdomen his
17 He doth bend his tail as a cedar, The sinews of his thighs are wrapped together,
to sway tail his like cedar sinew (thigh his *Q(K)*) to intertwine
18 His bones [are] tubes of brass, His bones [are] as a bar of iron.
bone his channel bronze bone his like/as rod iron
19 He [is] a beginning of the ways of God, His Maker bringeth nigh his sword;
he/she/it first: beginning way: conduct God [the] to make him to approach: bring sword his
20 For food do mountains bear for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.
for produce mountain: mount to lift: aid to/for him and all living thing [the] land: wildlife to laugh there
21 Under shades he lieth down, In a secret place of reed and mire.
underneath: under lotus to lie down: lay down in/on/with secrecy branch: stem and swamp
22 Cover him do shades, [with] their shadow, Cover him do willows of the brook.
to cover him lotus shadow his to turn: surround him willow torrent: river
23 Lo, a flood oppresseth — he doth not haste, He is confident though Jordan Doth come forth unto his mouth.
look! to oppress river not to hurry to trust for to burst/come out Jordan to(wards) lip his
24 Before his eyes doth [one] take him, With snares doth [one] pierce the nose?
in/on/with eye his to take: take him in/on/with snare to pierce face: nose
