< Job 18 >
1 And Bildad the Shuhite answereth and saith: —
Ìgbà náà ni Bilidadi, ará Ṣuhi, dáhùn, ó sì wí pé,
2 When do ye set an end to words? Consider ye, and afterwards do we speak.
“Nígbà wo ni ẹ̀yin yóò tó fi ìdí ọ̀rọ̀ tì; ẹ rò ó, nígbẹ̀yìn rẹ̀ ni àwa ó tó máa sọ.
3 Wherefore have we been reckoned as cattle? We have been defiled in your eyes!
Nítorí kí ni a ṣe ń kà wá sí bí ẹranko, tí a sì ń kà wá si bí ẹni ẹ̀gàn ní ojú yín?
4 (He is tearing himself in his anger.) For thy sake is earth forsaken? And removed is a rock from its place?
Ìwọ fa ara rẹ ya pẹ́rẹpẹ̀rẹ nínú ìbínú rẹ̀; kí a ha kọ ayé sílẹ̀ nítorí rẹ̀ bi? Tàbí kí a sí àpáta kúrò ní ipò rẹ̀?
5 Also, the light of the wicked is extinguished. And there doth not shine a spark of his fire.
“Nítòótọ́ ìmọ́lẹ̀ ènìyàn búburú ni a ó pa kúrò, ọ̀wọ́-iná rẹ̀ kì yóò sì tan ìmọ́lẹ̀.
6 The light hath been dark in his tent, And his lamp over him is extinguished.
Ìmọ́lẹ̀ yóò di òkùnkùn nínú àgọ́ rẹ̀, fìtílà ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀ ni a ó sì pa pẹ̀lú.
7 Straitened are the steps of his strength, And cast him down doth his own counsel.
Ìrìn ẹsẹ̀ agbára rẹ̀ yóò di fífọ; ète òun tìkára rẹ̀ ni yóò bí i ṣubú.
8 For he is sent into a net by his own feet, And on a snare he doth walk habitually.
Nípa ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ òun tìkára rẹ̀ ó ti bọ́ sínú àwọ̀n, ó sì rìn lórí okùn dídẹ.
9 Seize on the heel doth a gin, Prevail over him do the designing.
Tàkúté ni yóò mú un ní gìgísẹ̀, àwọn àwọ̀n tí a dẹ yóò sì ṣẹ́gun rẹ̀.
10 Hidden in the earth is his cord, And his trap on the path.
A dẹkùn sílẹ̀ fún un lórí ilẹ̀, a sì wà ọ̀fìn fún un lójú ọ̀nà.
11 Round about terrified him have terrors, And they have scattered him — at his feet.
Ẹ̀rù ńlá yóò bà á ní ìhà gbogbo, yóò sì lé e dé ẹsẹ̀ rẹ̀.
12 Hungry is his sorrow, And calamity is ready at his side.
Àìlera rẹ̀ yóò di púpọ̀ fún ebi, ìparun yóò dìde dúró sí i nígbà tí ó bá ṣubú.
13 It consumeth the parts of his skin, Consume his parts doth death's first-born.
Yóò jẹ ẹ̀yà ara rẹ̀; ikú àkọ́bí ni yóò jẹ agbára rẹ̀ run.
14 Drawn from his tent is his confidence, And it causeth him to step to the king of terrors.
A ó fà á tu kúrò nínú àgọ́ tí ó gbẹ́kẹ̀lé, a ó sì mú un tọ ọba ẹ̀rù ńlá nì lọ.
15 It dwelleth in his tent — out of his provender, Scattered over his habitation is sulphur.
Yóò sì máa jókòó nínú àgọ́ rẹ̀ èyí tí í ṣe tirẹ̀; sulfuru ti o jóná ni a ó fún káàkiri ibùgbé rẹ̀.
16 From beneath his roots are dried up, And from above cut off is his crop.
Gbòǹgbò rẹ̀ yóò gbẹ níṣàlẹ̀, a ó sì ké ẹ̀ka rẹ̀ kúrò lókè.
17 His memorial hath perished from the land, And he hath no name on the street.
Ìrántí rẹ̀ yóò parun kúrò ni ayé, kì yóò sí orúkọ rẹ̀ ní ìgboro ìlú.
18 They thrust him from light unto darkness, And from the habitable earth cast him out.
A ó sì lé e láti inú ìmọ́lẹ̀ sí inú òkùnkùn, a ó sì lé e kúrò ní ayé.
19 He hath no continuator, Nor successor among his people, And none is remaining in his dwellings.
Kì yóò ní ọmọ tàbí ọmọ ọmọ nínú àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kò sí ẹnikẹ́ni tí yóò kù nínú agbo ilé rẹ̀.
20 At this day westerns have been astonished And easterns have taken fright.
Ẹnu yóò ya àwọn ìran ti ìwọ̀-oòrùn sí ìgbà ọjọ́ rẹ̀, gẹ́gẹ́ bí ẹ̀rù ìwárìrì ti í bá àwọn ìran ti ìlà-oòrùn.
21 Only these [are] tabernacles of the perverse, And this the place God hath not known.
Nítòótọ́ irú bẹ́ẹ̀ ni ibùgbé àwọn ènìyàn búburú, èyí sì ni ipò ẹni tí kò mọ̀ Ọlọ́run.”
