Jeremiah 34
1 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah — and Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and all his force, and all kingdoms of the land of the dominion of his hand, and all the peoples are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all its cities — saying:
La palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte del Señor, cuando Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, y todo su ejército, y todos los reinos de la tierra que estaban bajo su gobierno, y todos los pueblos, estaban luchando contra Jerusalén y todos sus pueblos, diciendo:
2 'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: Go, and thou hast spoken unto Zedekiah king of Judah, and hast said unto him, Thus said Jehovah: Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath burned it with fire,
El Señor, el Dios de Israel, dijo: Ve y di a Sedequías, rey de Judá, esto es lo que dijo el Señor: Mira, entregaré este pueblo en manos del rey de Babilonia, y lo quemará con fuego;
3 and thou, thou dost not escape out of his hand, for thou art certainly caught, and into his hand thou art given, and thine eyes see the eyes of the king of Babylon, and his mouth with thy mouth speaketh, and Babylon thou enterest.
Y tú no escaparás de él, sino que ciertamente serás capturado y entregado en sus manos; y verás cara a cara al rey de Babilonia, y él hablará contigo, boca a boca, y tú irás a Babilonia.
4 'Only, hear a word of Jehovah, O Zedekiah king of Judah, Thus said Jehovah unto thee: Thou dost not die by sword,
Más escucha la palabra del Señor, Sedequías, rey de Judá; esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de ti: La muerte no vendrá a ti por la espada.
5 in peace thou diest, and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings who have been before thee, so they make a burning for thee; and Ah, lord, they lament for thee, for the word I have spoken — an affirmation of Jehovah.'
Llegarás a tu fin en paz; y quemarán incienso como lo hicieron para tus padres, los reyes anteriores antes que tú, se harán para ti; y llorarán por ti y te dirán: ¡Ah señor! Porque he dicho la palabra, dice el Señor.
6 And Jeremiah the prophet speaketh unto Zedekiah king of Judah all these words in Jerusalem,
Entonces el profeta Jeremías dijo todas estas cosas a Sedequías, rey de Judá, en Jerusalén:
7 and the forces of the king of Babylon are fighting against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that are left — against Lachish, and against Azekah, for these have been left among the cities of Judah, cities of fortresses.
Cuando el ejército del rey de Babilonia peleaba contra Jerusalén y contra todos los pueblos de Judá que no habían sido tomados, contra Laquis y contra Azeca; porque estas fueron las últimas ciudades amuralladas de Judá.
8 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, after the making by the king Zedekiah of a covenant with all the people who [are] in Jerusalem, to proclaim to them liberty,
La palabra que vino a Jeremías de parte del Señor, después de que el rey Sedequías hubo llegado a un acuerdo con todo el pueblo de Jerusalén, para dar noticias en público de que los esclavos debían ser liberados;
9 to send out each his man-servant, and each his maid-servant — the Hebrew and the Hebrewess — free, so as not to lay service on them, any on a Jew his brother;
Que todo hombre debía dejar libres a su siervo hebreo y su sierva hebrea; para que nadie haga uso de un judío, su compatriota, como sirviente:
10 and hearken do all the heads, and all the people who have come in to the covenant to send forth each his man-servant and each his maid-servant free, so as not to lay service on them any more, yea, they hearken, and send them away;
Y esto fue hecho por todos los gobernantes y las personas que participaron en el acuerdo, y cada uno dejó que su sirviente y su sirvienta salieran libres, para que ya no fueran usados como sirvientes; Así lo hicieron, y los dejaron ir.
11 and they turn afterwards, and cause the men-servants and the maid-servants to return, whom they had sent forth free, and they subdue them for men-servants and for maid-servants.
Pero más tarde, recuperaron a los sirvientes y las sirvientas que habían dejado libres, y los pusieron de nuevo bajo el yugo como sirvientes y sirvientas.
12 And there is a word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, saying:
Por esta razón la palabra del Señor vino a Jeremías de parte del Señor, diciendo:
13 'Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, I — I made a covenant with your fathers in the day of My bringing them forth from the land of Egypt, from a house of servants, saying,
El Señor, el Dios de Israel, ha dicho: Hice un acuerdo con sus padres el día en que los saqué de Egipto, de la prisión, diciendo:
14 At the end of seven years ye do send forth each his brother, the Hebrew, who is sold to thee, and hath served thee six years, yea, thou hast sent him forth free from thee: and your fathers hearkened not unto Me, nor inclined their ear.
Al final de siete años, cada hombre debe dejar ir a su compatriota que es hebreo, quien se ha hecho suyo por un precio y ha sido su sirviente durante seis años; debes dejarlo en libertad, pero tus padres no prestaron atención y no escucharon.
15 'And ye turn back, ye to-day, and ye do that which is right in Mine eyes, to proclaim liberty each to his neighbour, and ye make a covenant before Me in the house over which My name is called.
Y ahora, apartándose del mal, habían hecho lo que es correcto a mis ojos, comprometiéndose públicamente a que cada hombre hiciera libre a su prójimo; y habían hecho un acuerdo ante mi en él templo que lleva mi nombre:
16 And — ye turn back, and pollute My name, and ye cause each his man-servant and each his maid-servant, whom he had sent forth free, (at their pleasure, ) to return, and ye subdue them to be to you for men-servants and for maid-servants.
Pero se volvieron atrás de nuevo y profanaron mi nombre, y tomaron de vuelta a cada uno, a su siervo y a su sirvienta, a quienes enviaron en libertad, y los pusieron de nuevo bajo el yugo para que fueran sus siervos y siervas.
17 'Therefore, thus said Jehovah: Ye have not hearkened unto Me to proclaim freedom, each to his brother, and each to his neighbour; lo, I am proclaiming to you liberty — an affirmation of Jehovah — unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine, and I have given you for a trembling to all kingdoms of the earth.
Y el Señor ha dicho: No me escucharon, y no proclamaste públicamente, que todo hombre soltara a su compatriota y al prójimo. Mira, me comprometo a soltar contra ti la espada y la enfermedad y el hambre; y te enviaré vagando entre todos los reinos de la tierra.
18 'And I have given the men who are transgressing My covenant, who have not established the words of the covenant that they have made before Me, by the calf, that they have cut in two, and pass through between its pieces —
Y entregaré a los hombres que han ido en contra de mi acuerdo y no han dado efecto a las palabras del acuerdo que hicieron ante mi, cuando el buey se cortó en dos y se fueron entre las partes del mismo,
19 heads of Judah, and heads of Jerusalem, the officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land those passing through between the pieces of the calf —
Los gobernantes de Judá y los gobernantes de Jerusalén, los siervos que no son criados y los sacerdotes y todas las personas de la tierra que iban entre las partes del buey,
20 yea, I have given them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and their carcase hath been for food to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth.
Incluso a estos les entregaré en manos de sus enemigos y en manos de aquellos que tienen planes contra sus vidas; y sus cuerpos muertos se convertirán en alimento para las aves del cielo y las bestias de la tierra.
21 'And Zedekiah king of Judah, and his heads, I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of those seeking their soul, and into the hand of the forces of the king of Babylon, that are going up from off you.
Y a Sedequías, rey de Judá, y a sus gobernantes, lo entregaré en manos de sus enemigos y en manos de los que tienen planes contra sus vidas, y en manos del rey del ejército de Babilonia que se ha retirado de ti.
22 Lo, I am commanding — an affirmation of Jehovah — and have brought them back unto this city, and they have fought against it, and captured it, and burned it with fire, and the cities of Judah I do make a desolation — without inhabitant.'
Mira, daré órdenes, dice el Señor, y haré que regresen a este pueblo; y le harán guerra, la tomarán y la quemarán, y haré que los pueblos de Judá sea una desolación sin habitantes.
