Jeremiah 32

1 The word that hath been unto Jeremiah from Jehovah, in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah — it [is] the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar,

La parole qui fut [adressée] de par l'Eternel à Jérémie, la dixième année de Sédécias Roi de Juda, qui est l'an dix-huitième de Nébucadnetsar.

2 And then the forces of the king of Babylon are laying siege against Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet hath been shut up in the court of the prison that [is] in the house of the king of Judah,

(Or l'armée du Roi de Babylone assiégeait alors Jérusalem, et Jérémie le Prophète était enfermé dans la cour de la prison, qui était dans la maison du Roi de Juda;

3 Where Zedekiah king of Judah hath shut him up, saying, 'Wherefore art thou prophesying, saying, Thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he hath captured it;

Car Sédécias Roi de Juda l'avait enfermé, et lui avait dit: pourquoi prophétises-tu? en disant: ainsi a dit l'Eternel: voici, je m'en vais livrer cette ville en la main du Roi de Babylone, et il la prendra.

4 And Zedekiah king of Judah doth not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but is certainly given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and his mouth hath spoken with his mouth, and his eyes see his eyes,

Et Sédécias Roi de Juda n'échappera point de la main des Caldéens, mais il sera certainement livré en la main du Roi de Babylone, et lui parlera bouche à bouche, et ses yeux verront les yeux de ce Roi.

5 And [to] Babylon he leadeth Zedekiah, and there he is till My inspecting him, — an affirmation of Jehovah — because ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye do not prosper.'

Et il emmènera Sédécias à Babylone, qui y demeurera jusqu’à ce que je le visite, dit l'Eternel; si vous combattez contre les Caldéens, vous ne prospérerez point; )

6 And Jeremiah saith, 'A word of Jehovah hath been unto me saying,

Jérémie donc dit: la parole de l'Eternel m'a été [adressée], en disant:

7 Lo, Hanameel son of Shallum, thine uncle, is coming unto thee, saying, Buy for thee my field that [is] in Anathoth, for thine [is] the right of redemption — to buy.

Voici Hanaméel fils de Sallum ton oncle, qui vient vers toi, pour te dire: achète-toi mon champ, qui est à Hanathoth; car tu as le droit de retrait lignager pour le racheter.

8 And Hanameel, my uncle's son, cometh in unto me, according to the word of Jehovah, unto the court of the prison, and saith unto me, 'Buy, I pray thee, my field that [is] in Anathoth, that [is] in the land of Benjamin, for thine [is] the right of possession, and thine of redemption — buy for thee.' And I know that it [is] the word of Jehovah,

Hanaméel donc, fils de mon oncle, vint à moi, selon la parole de l'Eternel, dans la cour de la prison, et me dit: achète, je te prie, mon champ qui [est] à Hanathoth, dans le territoire de Benjamin: car tu as le droit de possession héréditaire, et de retrait lignager, achète-le [donc] pour toi; et je connus alors que c'était la parole de l'Eternel.

9 And I buy the field, that [is] in Anathoth, from Hanameel, my uncle's son, and I weigh to him the money — seventeen shekels of silver.

Ainsi j'achetai le champ de Hanaméel, fils de mon oncle, qui [est] à Hanathoth; et je lui pesai l'argent, [qui fut] dix-sept sicles d'argent.

10 And I write in a book, and seal, and cause witnesses to testify, and weigh the silver in balances;

Puis j'en écrivis le contrat, et le cachetai, et je pris des témoins après avoir pesé l'argent dans la balance;

11 And I take the purchase-book, the sealed one, according to law and custom, and the open one.

Et je pris le contrat d'acquisition, tant celui qui était cacheté, selon l'ordonnance et les statuts, que celui qui était ouvert.

12 And I give the purchase-book unto Baruch son of Neriah, son of Maaseiah, before the eyes of Hanameel, my uncle's son, and before the eyes of the witnesses, those writing in the purchase-book, before the eyes of all the Jews who are sitting in the court of the prison.

Et je donnai le contrat d'acquisition à Baruc fils de Nérija, fils de Mahaséja, en présence d'Hanaméel fils de mon oncle, et des témoins qui s'étaient souscrits dans le contrat de l'acquisition, [et] en présence de tous les Juifs qui étaient assis dans la cour de la prison.

13 And I charge Baruch before their eyes, saying,

Puis je commandai en leur présence à Baruc, en lui disant:

14 'Thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Take these books, this purchase-book, both the sealed one and the open one, and thou hast put them in an earthen vessel, that they may remain many days;

Ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: prends ces contrats ici, savoir ce contrat d'acquisition, qui est cacheté, et ce contrat qui est ouvert, et mets-les dans un pot de terre, afin qu'ils puissent se conserver longtemps.

15 For thus said Jehovah of Hosts, God of Israel, Again are houses and fields and vineyards bought in this land.'

Car ainsi a dit l'Eternel des armées, le Dieu d'Israël: on achètera encore des maisons, des champs, et des vignes en ce pays.

16 And I pray unto Jehovah — after my giving the purchase-book unto Baruch son of Neriah — saying,

Et après que j'eus donné à Baruc fils de Nerija le contrat d'acquisition, je fis requête à l'Eternel, en disant:

17 'Ah, Lord Jehovah, lo, Thou hast made the heavens and the earth by Thy great power, and by Thy stretched-out arm; there is nothing too wonderful for Thee:

Ah! ah! Seigneur Eternel, voici, tu as fait le ciel et la terre par ta grande puissance, et par ton bras étendu; aucune chose ne te sera difficile;

18 Doing kindness to thousands, and recompensing iniquity of fathers into the bosom of their sons after them; God, the great, the mighty, Jehovah of Hosts [is] His name,

Tu fais miséricorde jusqu'en mille générations, et tu rends l'iniquité des pères dans le sein de leurs enfants après eux; tu es le [Dieu] Fort, le Grand, le Puissant, le Nom duquel est l'Eternel des armées;

19 Great in counsel, and mighty in act, in that Thine eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of Adam, to give to each according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:

Grand en conseil, et abondant en moyens; car tes yeux sont ouverts sur toutes les voies des enfants des hommes, pour rendre à chacun selon ses voies, et selon le fruit de ses œuvres.

20 In that thou hast done signs and wonders in the land of Egypt unto this day, and in Israel, and among men, and Thou dost make for Thee a name as [at] this day.

Tu as fait au pays d'Egypte des signes et des miracles [qui sont connus] jusques à ce jour, et dans Israël, et parmi les hommes, et tu t'es acquis un nom tel qu'[il paraît] aujourd'hui.

21 'And Thou bringest forth Thy people Israel from the land of Egypt, with signs and with wonders, and by a strong hand, and by a stretched-out arm, and by great fear,

Car tu as retiré Israël ton peuple du pays d'Egypte, avec des signes et des miracles, et avec une main forte, et avec un bras étendu, et en répandant partout la frayeur.

22 And thou givest to them this land that thou didst swear to their fathers to give to them, a land flowing with milk and honey,

Et tu leur as donné ce pays que tu avais juré à leurs pères de leur donner, qui est un pays découlant de lait et de miel;

23 And they come in, and possess it, and they have not hearkened to Thy voice, and in Thy law have not walked, all that which Thou didst lay a charge on them to do they have not done, and Thou dost proclaim [to] them all this evil.

Et ils [y] sont entrés et l'ont possédé; mais ils n'ont point obéi à ta voix, et n'ont point marché en ta Loi, [et] n'ont pas fait toutes les choses que tu leur avais commandé de faire; c'est pourquoi tu as fait que tout ce mal ici les a rencontrés.

24 'Lo, the mounts — they have come in to the city to capture it, and the city hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it, because of the sword, and the famine, and the pestilence; and that which Thou hast spoken hath come to pass, and lo, Thou art seeing;

Voilà, les terrasses [sont élevées], on est venu contre la ville pour la prendre, et à cause de l'épée, de la famine, et de la mortalité, la ville est livrée en la main des Caldéens qui combattent contre elle; et ce que tu as dit est arrivé, et voici, tu le vois.

25 Yet Thou hast said unto me, O Lord Jehovah, Buy for thee the field with money, and cause witnesses to testify — and the city hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans!'

Et cependant, Seigneur Eternel! tu m'as dit: achète-toi ce champ à prix d'argent, et prends-en des témoins, quoique la ville soit livrée en la main des Caldéens.

26 And the word of Jehovah is unto Jeremiah, saying:

Mais la parole de l'Eternel fut [adressée] à Jérémie, en disant:

27 'Lo, I [am] Jehovah, God of all flesh: For Me is anything too wonderful?

Voici, je suis l'Eternel, le Dieu de toute chair; y aura-t-il quelque chose qui me soit difficile?

28 'Therefore, thus said Jehovah, Lo, I am giving this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he hath captured it;

C'est pourquoi ainsi a dit l'Eternel: voici, je m'en vais livrer cette ville entre les mains des Caldéens, et entre les mains de Nébucadnetsar Roi de Babylone, qui la prendra.

29 And come in have the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city, and they have set this city on fire, and have burned it, and the houses on whose roofs they made perfume to Baal, and poured out libations to other gods, so as to provoke Me to anger.

Et les Caldéens qui combattent contre cette ville, y entreront, [et] mettront le feu à cette ville, et la brûleront, avec les maisons sur les toits desquelles on a fait des parfums à Bahal, et [où] l'on a fait des aspersions à d'autres dieux pour m'irriter.

30 For the sons of Israel and the sons of Judah have been only doing evil in Mine eyes, from their youth; for the sons of Israel are only provoking Me with the work of their hands — an affirmation of Jehovah.

Car les enfants d'Israël et les enfants de Juda n'ont fait dès leur jeunesse que ce qui déplaît à mes yeux; et les enfants d'Israël ne font que m'irriter par les œuvres de leurs mains, dit l'Eternel.

31 'For a cause of Mine anger, and a cause of My fury, hath this city been to Me, even from the day that they built it, and unto this day — to turn it aside from before My face,

Car cette ville a été portée à provoquer ma colère et ma fureur, depuis le jour qu'ils l'ont bâtie, jusqu’à aujourd'hui, afin que je l'abolisse de devant ma face;

32 Because of all the evil of the sons of Israel, and of the sons of Judah that they have done, so as to provoke Me — they, their kings, their heads, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

A cause de toute la malice des enfants d'Israël, et des enfants de Juda, qu'ils ont commise pour m'irriter, eux, leurs Rois, les principaux d'entre eux, leurs Sacrificateurs, et leurs Prophètes, les hommes de Juda, et les habitants de Jérusalem.

33 And they turn unto Me the neck, and not the face, and teaching them, rising early and teaching, and they are not hearkening to accept instruction.

Ils m'ont abandonné; et quand je les ai enseignés, me levant dès le matin et les enseignant, ils n'ont point été obéissants pour recevoir instruction.

34 'And they set their abominations in the house over which My name is called, so as to defile it;

Mais ils ont mis leurs abominations dans la maison sur laquelle mon Nom est réclamé, pour la souiller.

35 And they build the high places of Baal, that [are] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through to Molech, which I did not command them, nor did it come up on my heart to do this abomination, so as to cause Judah to sin.

Et ils ont bâti les hauts lieux de Bahal, qui sont en la vallée du fils de Hinnom, pour faire passer par le feu leurs fils et leurs filles à Molec; ce que je ne leur avais point commandé, et je n'avais jamais pensé qu'ils fissent cette abomination pour faire pécher Juda.

36 'And now, therefore, thus said Jehovah, God of Israel, concerning this city, of which ye are saying, It hath been given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, and by famine, and by pestilence,

Et maintenant, à cause de cela l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, dit ainsi touchant cette ville de laquelle vous dites qu'elle est livrée entre les mains du Roi de Babylone, à cause que l'épée, la famine, et la mortalité [sont en elle]:

37 Lo, I am gathering them out of all the lands whither I have driven them in Mine anger, and in My fury, and in great wrath, and I have brought them back unto this place, and have caused them to dwell confidently;

Voici, je m'en vais les rassembler de tous les pays dans lesquels je les aurai dispersés par ma colère et par ma fureur, et par ma grande indignation, et je les ferai retourner en ce lieu-ci, et je les [y] ferai demeurer en sûreté.

38 and they have been to Me for a people, and I am to them for God;

Et ils me seront pour peuple, et je leur serai pour Dieu.

39 and I have given to them one heart, and one way, to fear Me all the days, for good to them, and to their sons after them:

Et je leur donnerai un même cœur, et un même chemin, afin qu'ils me craignent à toujours, pour leur bien et le bien de leurs enfants après eux.

40 and I have made for them a covenant age-during, in that I turn not back from after them for My doing them good, and My fear I put in their heart, so as not to turn aside from me;

Et je traiterai avec eux une alliance éternelle, [savoir] que je ne me retirerai point d'eux pour leur faire du bien; et je mettrai ma crainte dans leur cœur, afin qu'ils ne se retirent point de moi.

41 and I have rejoiced over them to do them good, and have planted them in this land in truth, with all my heart, and with all My soul.

Et je prendrai plaisir à leur faire du bien, et je les planterai dans ce pays-ci solidement, de tout mon cœur, et de toute mon âme.

42 'For thus said Jehovah: As I brought in unto this people all this great evil, so I am bringing in on them all the good that I am speaking concerning them;

Car ainsi a dit l'Eternel: comme j'ai fait venir tout ce grand mal sur ce peuple, ainsi je m'en vais faire venir sur eux tout le bien que je prononce en leur faveur.

43 and bought hath been the field in this land of which ye are saying, A desolation it [is], without man and beast, it hath been given into the hand of the Chaldeans.

Et on achètera des champs dans ce pays, duquel vous dites que ce n'est que désolation, n'y ayant ni homme ni bête, [et qui] est livré entre les mains des Caldéens.

44 Fields with money they buy, so as to write in a book, and to seal, and to cause witnesses to testify, in the land of Benjamin, and in suburbs of Jerusalem, and in cities of Judah, and in cities of the hill-country, and in cities of the low country, and in cities of the south, for I turn back their captivity — an affirmation of Jehovah.'

On achètera, [dis-je], des champs à prix d'argent, et on en écrira les contrats, et on les cachettera, et on en prendra des témoins au pays de Benjamin, et aux environs de Jérusalem, dans les villes de Juda, tant dans les villes des montagnes, que dans les villes de la plaine, et dans les villes du Midi. Car je ferai retourner leurs captifs, dit l'Eternel.
