Jeremiah 14
1 That which hath been the word of Jehovah unto Jeremiah concerning the matters of the dearths:
Słowo PANA, które doszło do Jeremiasza w związku z suszą:
2 Mourned hath Judah, and her gates have languished, They have mourned to the earth, And the cry of Jerusalem hath gone up.
Ziemia Judy płacze, a jej bramy osłabły, w szacie żałobnej siedzą na ziemi, a krzyk Jerozolimy się podnosi.
3 And their honourable ones have sent their little ones to the water, They have come unto ditches, They have not found water, They have turned back — their vessels empty! They have been ashamed, And have blushed and covered their head.
Ich szlachetni posyłają swoje sługi po wodę. A gdy przyszli do cystern, nie znaleźli wody i powrócili z pustymi naczyniami. Zapłonęli i zawstydzili się, i zakryli swoje głowy.
4 Because the ground hath been broken, For there hath been no rain in the land, Ashamed have been husbandmen, They have covered their head.
Z powodu spękanej ziemi – bo nie było deszczu na ziemi – oracze ze wstydu zakryli swoje głowy.
5 For even the hind in the field hath brought forth — to forsake [it!] For there hath been no grass.
Nawet łania rodząca na polu porzuciła [młode], bo nie było trawy.
6 And wild asses have stood on high places, They have swallowed up wind like dragons, Consumed have been their eyes, for there is no herb.
A dzikie osły, stojąc na wysokich miejscach, chwyciły wiatr jak smoki; ich oczy osłabły, bo nie było trawy.
7 Surely our iniquities have testified against us, O Jehovah, work for Thy name's sake, For many have been our backslidings, Against Thee we have sinned.
PANIE, chociaż nasze nieprawości świadczą przeciwko nam, działaj przez wzgląd na twoje imię. Liczne są bowiem nasze odstępstwa, zgrzeszyliśmy przeciwko tobie.
8 O Hope of Israel — its saviour in time of trouble, Why art Thou as a sojourner in the land? And as a traveller turned aside to lodge?
Nadziejo Izraela, jego Zbawicielu w czasie utrapienia, czemu jesteś jak przybysz w tej ziemi, jak podróżny, który zatrzymuje się na nocleg?
9 Why art Thou as one dumb? As a mighty one not able to save? And Thou [art] in our midst, O Jehovah, And Thy name over us is called, leave us not.
Czemu jesteś jak człowiek osłupiały [albo] jak mocarz, który nie może wybawić? Ty jednak jesteś pośród nas, PANIE, i twoje imię jest wzywane nad nami. Nie opuszczaj nas.
10 Thus said Jehovah concerning this people: Well they have loved to wander, Their feet they have not restrained, And Jehovah hath not accepted them, Now doth He remember their iniquity, And inspect their sin.
Tak mówi PAN o tym ludzie: Tak kochają błądzić, swoich nóg nie powstrzymają; dlatego PAN nie ma w nich upodobania, teraz wspomina ich nieprawość i nawiedza ich [za ich] grzechy.
11 And Jehovah saith unto me: Thou dost not pray for this people for good,
Potem PAN powiedział do mnie: Nie módl się o dobro tego ludu.
12 When they fast, I hearken not unto their cry, And when they cause to ascend burnt-offering and present, I accept them not, For by sword, and by famine, And by pestilence, I am consuming them.
Gdy będą pościć, nie wysłucham ich wołania, a gdy będą składać całopalenia i ofiarę z pokarmów, nie przyjmę tego, ale wytracę ich mieczem, głodem i zarazą.
13 And I say, 'Ah, Lord Jehovah, Lo, the prophets are saying to them: Ye do not see a sword, yea, famine is not to you, For true peace I give to you in this place.'
Wtedy powiedziałem: Ach, Panie BOŻE! Oto prorocy mówią im: Nie zobaczycie miecza ani nie dotknie was głód, ale dam wam trwały pokój na tym miejscu.
14 And Jehovah saith unto me: Falsehood the prophets are prophesying in My name, I did not send them, nor command them, Nor have I spoken unto them: A false vision, and divination, and vanity, And the deceit of their own heart, they are prophesying to you.
I PAN powiedział do mnie: Ci prorocy fałszywie prorokują w moje imię. Nie posłałem ich ani im [niczego] nie nakazywałem, ani nie mówiłem do nich. Prorokują wam kłamliwe widzenie i wróżbę, marność i urojenie swego serca.
15 Therefore, thus said Jehovah concerning the prophets who are prophesying in My name, and I have not sent them, and they are saying, Sword and famine is not in this land: By sword and by famine are these prophets consumed.
Dlatego tak mówi PAN o prorokach, którzy prorokują w moje imię, chociaż ich nie posłałem, i którzy mówią: Miecza i głodu nie będzie w tej ziemi. Ci sami prorocy od miecza i głodu zginą.
16 And the people to whom they are prophesying, Are cast into out-places of Jerusalem, Because of the famine, and of the sword, And they have none burying them, Them, their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, And I have poured out upon them this evil.
A ten lud, któremu oni prorokują, będzie wyrzucony na ulice Jerozolimy z powodu głodu i miecza i nie będzie nikogo, kto by pogrzebał ich samych ani ich żon, ani ich synów i córek. Tak wyleję na nich ich niegodziwość.
17 And thou hast said unto them this word: Tears come down mine eyes night and day, And they do not cease, For, [with] a great breach, Broken hath been the virgin daughter of my people, A very grievous stroke.
Dlatego powiesz im to słowo: Moje oczy wylewają łzy w nocy i we dnie, bez przerwy, bo dziewicza córka mego ludu została dotknięta wielką klęską, ciosem bardzo bolesnym.
18 If I have gone forth to the field, Then, lo, the pierced of the sword! And if I have entered the city, Then, lo, the diseased of famine! For both prophet and priest have gone up and down Unto a land that they knew not.
Jeśli wychodzę na pole – oto pobici mieczem, jeśli wchodzę do miasta – oto ginący od głodu. Tak, zarówno prorok, jak i kapłan kupczą ziemią, a [ludzie] tego nie zauważają.
19 Hast Thou utterly rejected Judah? Zion hath Thy soul loathed? Wherefore hast Thou smitten us, And there is no healing to us? Looking for peace, and there is no good, And for a time of healing, and lo, terror.
Czy całkowicie odrzucasz Judę? Czy twoja dusza obrzydziła sobie Syjon? Czemu nas bijesz, tak że już nie ma dla nas uzdrowienia? Oczekiwaliśmy pokoju, ale nie [ma] nic dobrego; [oczekiwaliśmy] czasu uleczenia, a oto trwoga.
20 We have known, O Jehovah, our wickedness, The iniquity of our fathers, For we have sinned against Thee.
Uznajemy, PANIE, swoją niegodziwość i nieprawość naszych ojców, bo zgrzeszyliśmy przeciw tobie.
21 Do not despise, for Thy name's sake, Dishonour not the throne of Thine honour, Remember, break not Thy covenant with us.
Nie odrzucaj [nas] przez wzgląd na twoje imię, nie dopuść do znieważenia tronu swojej chwały. Pamiętaj o swoim przymierzu i nie zrywaj go z nami.
22 Are there among the vanities of the nations any causing rain? And do the heavens give showers? Art not Thou He, O Jehovah our God? And we wait for thee, for Thou — Thou hast done all these!
Czy wśród marności pogan są takie, co spuszczają deszcz? Czy niebiosa mogą [same] dawać deszcze? Czy to nie ty, PANIE, nasz Boże? Dlatego oczekujemy ciebie, bo ty czynisz to wszystko.
